Zombie Chimera.

Before the zombies could get close, Joo Joowon activated the Spider Web Launcher without the slightest hesitation.

A massive web descended from above and instantly enveloped the leading zombies.

Joo Joowon immediately threw a Molotov cocktail toward them.

The zombies behind them, however, showed no intention of stopping because of the burning Zombie Chimera in front.

They completely ignored the flames consuming the bodies ahead and simply stepped directly over them.

Of course, not every zombie was unwilling to go around.

The problem was that there were simply too many of them.

The zombies pressed against one another so tightly that those who wanted to change direction had no room to move.

Seeing this, a sense of urgency rose within Joo Joowon.

The apocalypse had only just begun and yet these zombies were already neither stupid nor mindless.

If they were given a little more time to grow, would they eventually start using battle strategy as well?

Joo Joowon expressionlessly threw out another enhanced Molotov cocktail to block the path.

At the same time, he fired two more webs in succession, temporarily trapping the incoming ordinary zombies inside them.

The alley was narrow.

The two groups of zombies quickly blocked the entire road.

Yet within this short amount of time, several Zombie Chimera had already worked together to tear through the webs Joo Joowon had fired.

Rare quality spider silk was not easy to destroy once it wrapped around something.

If it was only restraining a single target, there would not have been any issue.

When it was trying to restrain an entire group, however, it became somewhat powerless.

Clang!

At such close range, missing was simply impossible.

The zombies were nothing more than moving targets.

The bolt shot forward with perfect accuracy and struck the zombie directly in the head.

Immobilization triggered.

Spider silk wrapped around the creature’s neck.

Joo Joowon pulled hard.

The hidden thread was capable of supporting over a ton of weight.

There was no doubt about its incredible toughness.

Its characteristics were completely different from the easily broken search thread.

The two focused on entirely different functions.

Its strength was more than sufficient to effortlessly slit the throat of a living creature.

A zombie could survive for a while even after having its head pierced.

But what if it lost its head entirely?

Taking advantage of the Compound Repeating Crossbow’s ability to fire three bolts at once, Joo Joowon shot three Zombie Chimera simultaneously.

Unfortunately, aside from the first one triggering the weapon’s immobilization effect, the other two did not activate the special effect.

Fortunately, higher level zombies possessed instinctive evasive reactions.

When they saw bolts flying toward their faces, they instinctively tried to dodge.

That gave Joo Joowon the perfect opportunity to sneak spider silk onto them through the gaps in their movements.

Joo Joowon stepped to the right to avoid the Zombie Chimera lunging toward him and quickly swept his gaze over their appearances.

The Zombie Chimera with the pig snout was the one that had been immobilized.

Perhaps because it relied too heavily on its thick hide and tough body, it had not bothered trying to dodge the bolt at all.

That was why it ended up immobilized.

The remaining enemies consisted of two Cat Chimera, one Dog Chimera, and one Insect Chimera covered in tentacles whose original species could not be identified.

The Insect Chimera sold out its teammates the instant it broke free from the web.

Instead of attacking Joo Joowon, it decisively chose to flee through the air after carefully assessing the situation.

Joo Joowon could not tell whether it intended to hide nearby and wait for an opportunity to strike or whether it had truly escaped.

Judging from its behavior, however, this Insect Chimera had probably experienced being hunted by spiders before or perhaps it feared fire.

It was also possible that it was simply born timid.

One enemy had left.

That still left four Zombie Chimera and one psychic zombie.

The canine Chimera had an extremely vicious appearance.

Without the slightest hesitation, it lunged toward Joo Joowon and attempted to tear into him with its teeth.

The impact of its charge shattered chunks of red brick from the wall and sent debris flying everywhere.

Its Strength attribute was obviously extremely high.

"ROAR!"

The immobilization effect finally disappeared.

The Pig Chimera roared furiously and immediately grabbed hold of the spider silk that had already sunk deeply into its flesh.

Then it yanked violently with all its strength.

Rip!

A pig head rolled across the ground.

The cross section of the severed neck was astonishingly smooth.

The Pig Chimera seemed to suffer some sort of pig brain overload.

Its tiny eyes widened into circles.

Its body hurriedly tried to pick up the fallen head and place it back onto its neck.

Instead, because it could no longer see where it was going, it accidentally kicked the head even farther away.

Black blood poured from the severed neck, staining the already blood soaked clothes covering the Pig Chimera.

In only a few moments, the system notification rang out beside Joo Joowon’s ear.

[ Ding! ]

[ Level 6 Elite • Pig Chimera has been killed! ]

[ EXP +64 ]

Joo Joowon was stunned.

"Huh?"

The other Zombie Chimera: ???

Amidst the endless roars of the lower level zombies, even the higher level zombies froze for a few seconds.

They had always known this guy was not particularly intelligent.

When it came to eating people, he never knew how to choose the fat ones over the skinny ones.

All he ever thought about was eating.

Still, none of them had expected him to perform such a catastrophically stupid move.

God, this was embarrassing.

How were they supposed to tell the human that they were not actually associated with this idiot?

Retrieving the spider silk wrapped around the Pig Chimera, Joo Joowon found only a single thought filling his mind.

Could Byeol’s luck buff actually affect Elite monsters as well?

Other than that possibility, he genuinely could not come up with any explanation for why the Pig Chimera would perform such a ridiculous move.
