Chapter 223: Becoming Part of the Strength
As soon as he finished speaking, he had already cut off the connection.
Flying Eagle walked out of the cramped room. Looking at his subordinates outside his door—many from the Flying Tiger Organization—the first thing he had to do was secure his own deployment.
"Go on." He just waved his hand, then let out a sigh.
The subordinates outside nodded heavily. They all knew the inside story, knew why they had to clear people from the Dungeon.
There were very few Dungeons where humans could survive. Forcing out so many people, their end could only be one.
But this was everyone’s only road left.
After Flying Eagle finished all this, he looked at his phone, at Leng Feng’s personal account.
Right now, the internet was full of news about him driving people out of the Dungeon.
Accusations against him were everywhere.
Some even wagered he didn’t dare to actually force people out.
He looked at Leng Feng’s account—it was still absolutely silent, no one had been expelled, and there was no announcement about the Dark Forest.
Most of the subordinates beside him could easily deal with anyone below the fifth tier.
They’d said the sweep would start in three days, but in fact, people were already being forced out.
All across the Dungeon, curses and wails rose in cacophony, but Flying Eagle could hear each one with clarity.
His mind felt like it was about to explode, countless curses blasting into his head through the surveillance feeds.
"Zhang Guodong! We were elementary school classmates—now you’re kicking me out?"
"Chen, you’re really going to force me out?"
"Du Juchuan, I never expected you to be such a heartless bastard!"
"Fang Feng, can you even give me a reason—do you really have to drive us away?"
"I never said I wanted to leave. The other Dungeons are full—where would I even go if I left?"
...
The subordinates sent out didn’t secretly let anyone stay, even if they knew each other.
Though Flying Eagle hadn’t announced the news publicly, he had already told the rest of the organization.
Now, he needed everyone to act as one—there couldn’t be any surprises among his ranks.
"Brother, don’t blame me. If you stay, none of us will survive." Someone couldn’t help it any longer; hearing his old classmate plead, he said a few more words.
"The population’s too high—the Dark Forest will corrode us." He sighed, "Even if you don’t leave, you’ll still be killed later. Might as well go out and find your own way."
"The Dark Forest? Aren’t you afraid we’ll build a Life Bridge and let the Dark Forest swallow its way in?" The expelled showed a touch of bitterness, their gaze filled with despair.
"It’s pointless. Unless the population inside surpasses a certain threshold, as long as the Lord’s present, the Dark Forest won’t invade the Dungeon."
He waved his hand. At that moment, residents below the fifth tier were swarming outward like a hive of bees.
They had no way to resist.
And as soon as the reason for the eviction was revealed, even more people learned the truth.
Especially the other high-tiers in the Dungeons—they even joined the expulsion, driving out the lower-tiers.
And this news, too, spread online.
Those driven out of the Dungeon now huddled outside, while inside was locked down tight.
Furious, they tried to break in, but all that would accomplish was to spill more blood onto the ground.
[They never really gave us three days—what he meant was, everyone would be forced out within three days!]
[The Dark Forest will devour us? Going beyond some population threshold will make the Dark Forest unstoppable?? Sounds like a bad joke to me!]
[Other Dungeons aren’t throwing people out like this—it’s all just a rumor, isn’t it? Leng Feng’s Dungeon isn’t chasing people away!]
...
They scrambled to contact other Dungeons, desperate to see if similar events were happening elsewhere.
[Nope, I haven’t heard anything. Our Lord hasn’t made any moves yet.]
[This must be just Flying Eagle acting on his own—he doesn’t have any checkpoints. Never thought he’d be so afraid to die.]
[You could try coming here. Give me something, and I’ll quietly get rid of a few people inside the Dungeon—free up a spot or two.]
[Shit. Why didn’t we ever think of doing that!]
...
Kill the original residents of a Dungeon, make space for outsiders—the instant that rumor spread, everyone exploded in anger.
Even so, some began privately messaging that guy, desperate for any slim chance to survive.
Flying Eagle watched their internal group; Leng Feng hadn’t spoken, but many other Lords who had established Dungeons started tagging him, asking if the news was true.
"It’s true. My daughter told me." He didn’t mention that Leng Feng knew as well.
He was just confused—why didn’t Leng Feng speak up, or give everyone the heads-up?
The group went silent at Flying Eagle’s confirmation.
The chat quieted—everyone knew what would follow, what sort of consequences there would be.
Flying Eagle’s Dungeon—this was the test case.
A prototype for driving people out.
But only forcing out part of the people didn’t mean much yet—there were still Dungeons to take them in.
Now, though, some had started a business in flesh and blood—murdered the Dungeon’s own, let others take their place.
But what if every Dungeon stopped taking people in?
What if every Dungeon started expelling people?
"How many can a Dungeon keep?" After a silence, someone finally asked the crucial question.
"A quarter." After Flying Eagle spoke, everyone fell utterly silent.
Someone quickly tagged Leng Feng. "Is this for real?"
Logically speaking, this was something Leng Feng should have told them all first.
"Yeah."
Leng Feng’s reply was instant, no hesitation at all—you could tell he’d been lurking the whole time.
"As for what to do, how to act, that’s up to everyone." Leng Feng looked at the phone screen, feeling a little helpless too.
Nobody spoke in the group, but it was as if everyone could hear the others sucking in cold breaths.
"If it goes on like this, do we still have hope—or any future?" A voice message sounded, deep and stifling.
They’d crammed their Dungeons as full as possible, just to preserve the greatest possible strength.
But now they were told, if they kept things this way, they’d be the first knocked out before even fighting the evil spirits.
"There’s still hope," Leng Feng quickly replied. "As for the population, act according to your true feelings. I hope that in the future, win or lose, everyone will understand."
He clenched his fist, looking out at the crowded masses outside.
The sky above grew gray. By now, he hadn’t slept in a very long time.
It seemed ever since the passage was opened, he hadn’t truly rested at all.
But at this tier, sleep wasn’t needed—once you hit tier five, you no longer needed rest.
Many ordinary people in his territory weren’t sleeping either. The lower-tiers could barely lie down and rest.
He had no intention of driving people away. He’d rather let them stay and become part of the power base, than let them die outside.
When victory comes, everyone will share in the fruits.
