Chapter 224: We Came to Pick People Up
"Alright then, while you all are kicking people out, I’ll be taking people in." Someone chuckled along, but you could still hear a hint of relief in his voice.
"Maybe I’m just not cut out for it. If you guys drive people away, I’ll just take them in."
"Even if I end up dying in the end, I’ll go down with everyone—just treat it as a last wild party before destruction."
"But rest assured, I’ll move out the food and supplies before the Dark Forest encroaches on us."
"You all keep working hard, I’ll be leaving now."
...
Hearing his words, the other Human Lords all sighed.
In just a few minutes, the dozen or so Human Lords split into two camps: one group was ready to give up and accept unlimited population intake.
The other group decided to fight the wraiths to the end!
"As for my top fighters, I’ll have them head over to your side—remember to take them in."
They were arranging things like they were giving parting instructions.
The internet was in chaos, with tons of confused questions, because this wasn’t any official announcement—just rumors from the mouths of those who had been expelled.
People were frantically seeking answers from the authorities, but the officials kept totally silent.
[Guys, I think I get it now. No news is the biggest news.]
[Looks like this time it’s really happening.]
[But if they do this, where do we even go?]
[Is there even any leftover Dungeon for us to survive in?]
[Not giving us even a sliver of hope? Weren’t we supposed to be the seeds of hope?!]
[If it really comes to this, I’ll just burn this place down!]
...
Countless Dungeons went silent, waiting for an answer from the authorities.
This situation didn’t last long—the first to speak up was Leng Feng.
[The rumors online are true, but also not true.]
[The true part is, yeah, a few Dungeons do need to expel some people and enter battle mode, but it’s not true that all Dungeons have to kick everyone out.]
[After our discussions, we’ve set aside some Dungeons just for you all to live in. Anyone above Tier Five willing to fight can head to one of the other Dungeons.]
[As for my Dungeon, it’ll also enter living mode. I’m opening up infinite living areas here—anyone who comes, as long as you can fit, is welcome.]
Leng Feng had only just posted his statement when the internet instantly exploded.
No one doubted whether he was telling the truth, because obviously some Dungeons had to activate battle mode.
Previously, everyone had wondered: if the Dungeons were full of people, what would we do when the wraiths come?
Hearing his words actually eased their minds a bit.
"Wait, Brother Leng? You’re doing this too?" The internal chat went wild. Everyone had thought he’d choose battle mode, driving people to those Dungeons willing to take one for the team.
"The Dark Forest isn’t a joke, man. Everyone says it’s impossible to defend against."
"Or maybe send people my way instead. Sure, I’m scared of dying too, but honestly, I probably won’t last long anyway."
...
The group chat erupted—before these major events, everyone could actually set aside their own interests for a bit.
"No need, just let it be. I have my own plans. I won’t be swallowed by the Dark Forest." He shook his head, rejecting their concern.
They’d already agreed: just designate a few Dungeons as battle zones if they needed to expel people.
This explanation was quickly accepted by the crowd.
But seeing Leng Feng do the same, everyone frowned.
[Why don’t you just go fight? I don’t mind going to another Dungeon—that’s not the issue. It’s not about the spikes on the ground, it’s really nothing, I’m used to pain.]
[Yeah, you’re already the strongest. If you’re making this a living zone, what about everyone else?]
[Let those few go fight while you chill in living mode? Isn’t this just a recipe for total wipeout?]
...
The replies under Leng Feng’s post were insane—people were spamming him nonstop.
He just kept responding, "Trust me, guys. I have my own plan. I know what I’m doing. I’m strong, nothing’s going to happen to me."
After sending that message, he turned his phone off and sighed deeply.
He watched as the people in his Dungeon, who had been scared of getting expelled, suddenly relaxed, even telling others to come join his place. Through the window at the night sky, he let out a bitter smile.
"Brother Leng, you there?" Suddenly Leng Feng heard someone knocking outside his door. He paused, because that voice belonged to one of Long Yun’s subordinates.
"Come in."
The people outside answered and came in. Seeing them trickle in—a dozen or so, all Long Yun’s men—he looked at them curiously.
He couldn’t help but furrow his brow. These Long Yun subordinates were all strong. Were they coming here to form a team and go after Jiang Che for revenge?
"Brother Leng, we’re here to say goodbye, and to thank you for looking after us all this time." The dozen all bowed their heads solemnly.
"You guys? What’s your plan?" He eyed the group coldly—were they really about to seek revenge on Jiang Che?
Dragon Cloud Tower had about a thousand people, and these dozen were all faces he recognized—captains among those thousand.
"Let me give you some advice, drop the revenge. You can’t win. You’d just be throwing your lives away." He waved them off, telling them to leave.
"If you really don’t want to stay here, I can arrange for you to go to another battle Dungeon—you won’t be expelled." Dragon Cloud Tower’s overall strength was T0-level among human organizations.
"No, Brother Leng, it’s not like that." The leader quickly waved his hands.
"We just got news from the boss. He told us to go to Jiang Che’s Dungeon; said there will be a living zone set up for us there."
"I spoke to the boss myself—he wasn’t forced. He even told me stuff only we would know."
They rushed to explain, not expecting Jiang Che to actually let them live in his Dungeon.
"Jiang Che? He’s willing?" Leng Feng was stunned. He thought it over and still couldn’t figure out what Jiang Che was up to.
He didn’t know Jiang Che that well, but one thing’s for sure—he’d never lure Dragon Cloud Tower’s people over just to slaughter them.
The most likely explanation was, he really had agreed to let Long Yun’s people live there.
"But his Dungeon is completely surrounded by the Dark Forest. How are you going to get there?" Leng Feng was confused. If any Dungeon was already circled by the Dark Forest, it was Jiang Che’s for sure.
"Boss Long Yun told us that Jiang Che will send a vehicle for us..." One of them said it, his eyes still lost in confusion.
A vehicle?
They didn’t know what kind of vehicle, either.
"A vehicle?" Leng Feng glanced at his phone as it started ringing; the name ’Flying Tiger’ popped up.
"Brother Leng, let two hundred of Long Yun’s people come out first. We’re here to pick them up."
