Chapter 315 - 313: Dark Star Has Arrived
The evil spirits here showed no surprise upon hearing Ding Ning’s words.
After clearing the Black Forest, a thin mist also permeated the air.
In an era when humans would flee in terror upon seeing evil spirits, Jiang Che’s calm demeanor made him one of the bravest among humans.
Seeing Jiang Che remain unresponsive, the rabbit-man withdrew his leg.
There was no point in frightening a human who knew no fear.
The rabbit-man’s body was huge, yet he moved without making a sound.
Nearby evil spirits keeping watch also withdrew their gazes.
Without the Mother Tree, this area became much easier to clear.
Previously, the roots of the Mother Tree had been entangled within the passage, blocking the portal between the two worlds.
Now that the Dark Mother Tree was gone, the clearing was more rapid.
The land still bore pits from pulled roots, and the air reeked of decay.
Most Lords did not occupy the land near the portal; instead, each faction sent some people here to clear the surrounding Dark Trees, creating a landing area.
The rabbit-man led Ding Ning and Jiang Che toward the passage, an eerie and oppressive atmosphere around them, as if countless eyes were watching from the darkness.
The Human Realm and the Evil Spirit Realm were like mirrors.
The evil spirit dungeon corresponded to the area where humans had previously entered through various portals.
This was something Jiang Che discovered later.
He initially believed that the entrances from the Evil Spirit Realm to the Human Realm were randomly opened.
He only learned later that these entrances were randomly summoned within a region.
During Ding Ning’s vast territory, the entrance would randomly open within that range.
Last time, it happened to fall above Red Pearl Mental Hospital.
This was another matter Jiang Che was pondering.
Now, a large portal was merely opened.
Over time, these two worlds would be like a sieve, full of holes.
And this would be the beginning of human resistance.
The direction corresponding to his territory was where Ding Ning’s territory lay.
Other Lords’ stationed places might correspond to the Lord’s domain, or to a small evil spirit’s domain, or even to a section of the Dark Forest devoid of any evil spirits.
But no matter which place they correspond to, it represented humans soon having the right to autonomously enter the Evil Spirit Realm.
Not through this evil spirit-occupied portal, but directly from their own territory.
The rabbit-man walked ahead in the passage, slightly tilting his head to glance at Ding Ning and Jiang Che beside him.
Hand in hand, the two walked beside each other; the passage was not completely dark.
From the outside, the passage looked deep and black, but inside, the walls were filled with blood-red light and shadows.
Those shadows flowed like blood, eerie and horrifying, casting on their faces, making their expressions indeterminate.
The scent of blood pervaded the air, stimulating their nostrils.
"Remember this passage? It was forged with the flesh and blood of your kind," the rabbit-man sneered, looking at Jiang Che.
The passage was filled with a nauseating blood scent, and the surrounding walls seemed to seep blood.
Jiang Che’s expression remained unchanged, he spoke calmly.
His gaze was as tranquil as water; the rabbit-man’s accusations couldn’t stir a ripple in his heart. "Even without me, they would become a part of the flesh and blood here."
Some things don’t happen because of oneself, but because the event itself would occur.
This event was merely accelerated by his presence, and would happen regardless.
The rabbit-man snorted coldly; she knew this.
Her enormous form in the blood-red light appeared all the more hideous; like Ding Ning, she wanted to stop the formation of this passage.
With just the strength of the two of them, it was too weak.
As Jiang Che said, at most they could only prevent the connection of the two worlds.
The passage wasn’t long; stepping out of it, a pungent smell of decay hit like a slap.
This was Jiang Che arriving in the Evil Spirit Realm yet again.
The gray sky loomed like a heavy lead curtain, suffocating all breath.
The indistinct world was enveloped with scorched earth, exuding an aura of death and despair.
The charred land seemed cursed, barren, lifeless.
With each step, the dust underfoot rose like the wails of lost souls.
They had walked far when finally, a cloaked figure appeared at the passage entrance.
The surrounding dust storm seemed to grow more fierce and whirl around him at his appearance.
The black cloak flapped loudly in the wind, obscuring any sight of the face beneath.
Only after they left did the figure proceed toward the passage.
His silhouette gradually merged into the dark profound passage, leaving behind the raging wind, dust, and this forgotten world of silence.
Neither Ding Ning nor the rabbit-man sensed anything amiss.
But Jiang Che received a transmission from the Mother Tree.
The Mother Tree, after rooting in his territory, kept babbling incomprehensibly, remaining furious after Jiang Che’s disregard.
Especially since Ding Ning isolated its voice, Jiang Che was the only one who could hear it.
Others in the territory aren’t influenced by it.
The moment the figure in the cloak entered the Human Realm, Jiang Che immediately received the news.
"Heh, heh, Dark Star is here!"
At the sound, Jiang Che swung around and looked back at the passage, but they had walked too far to see its shadow anymore.
The name Dark Star exploded like thunder in his mind.
It wasn’t surprising the Dark Mother Tree knew of Dark Star, as they were both native beings of the Evil Spirit Realm, not low-level.
Knowing about the various Evil Spirit Lords was quite normal.
Dark Star had disappeared long ago; a Lord searching for him practically flipped the entire realm upside down without finding a trace.
Now, in his weakened state, it’s the perfect time to take advantage.
"Was there something behind?" The rabbit-man saw Jiang Che’s sudden turn.
Thinking he was startled by something and about to laugh, Jiang Che spoke, "Dark Star just exited the passage."
His words froze the rabbit-man’s smile instantly on her face.
"Dark Star? How do you know?" The rabbit-man looked seriously at Jiang Che.
"A special form of sensing." Jiang Che did not disclose that the Dark Mother Tree informed him, saying only it was a sense.
While the Dark Star’s tracks might be hidden from others, they couldn’t avoid detection by the Black Forest.
Now, whether in the Evil Spirit Realm or the Human Realm, it is the Black Forest that covers the most ground.
