Chapter 307 - 306: Purpose
Once realizing safety, Flying Tiger exhaled a sigh of relief.
Her steps became relaxed, and her mood gradually eased.
Along the way, Jiang Che and Ding Ning engaged in occasional conversation, while Flying Tiger intermittently gazed into the distance, her thoughts occupied with her father’s condition.
Upon reaching the Dungeon destination, she saw Flying Eagle waiting outside.
His figure appeared somewhat frail in the twilight’s fading glow, despite tidying himself up, still looked exhausted.
That once tall posture now appeared slightly hunched, and the fatigue on his face was evident.
Flying Eagle’s eyes were filled with relief and a sense of survival wonder.
Upon seeing his daughter, his gaze softened and warmed, as though all the past fears dissipated in that moment.
Flying Tiger looked at her father, her eyes reddening, rushing forward to embrace him.
Her arms tightly wrapping around her dad, her voice trembling with tears, "Dad, you scared me to death!"
Flying Eagle gently patted Flying Tiger’s back, comforting, "Daughter, Dad is fine, don’t cry."
He glanced at the two behind his daughter, hand in hand, leaning against each other.
If not for Flying Tiger claiming them to be the Lord of Dungeon No. 9, he wouldn’t have predicted Ding Ning’s identity.
Flying Eagle turned to express gratitude to Ding Ning and Jiang Che.
His voice earnest and sincere, "Thanks to you this time; without you, I might have..." He paused, not continuing, simply bowing deeply.
"It was a dark and terrifying octopus that came." With that single statement, Ding Ning knew who had arrived.
"That Octopus Lord also mentioned detecting a unique scent belonging to it from me."
Flying Eagle recalled the scenes back then, still feeling the lingering fear.
His voice slightly trembling, he described to everyone the oppressive strength and chilling aura of the Octopus Lord.
"It must have been due to that broadcast equipment I acquired previously." Leading the group towards the underground repository storing the equipment.
With no Dungeon opened, the equipment hadn’t been used for a long time.
Long buried underground, the device was covered in dust, as though forgotten in the corner of time.
Ding Ning looked towards the sky, above which appeared like a live broadcast screen broadcasting the daily lives of territory residents, without privacy.
People living in this invisible surveillance day after day.
The territory residents had become numb, letting an eyeball watch them beside while they went about their own business.
Their faces showed no anger, no rebellion, only deep helplessness and indifference.
"That is the Lord of Dungeon 3, whose most significant trait is surveillance and control, enjoying mastering everything."
Flying Eagle’s broadcasting equipment was undoubtedly obtained from his territory.
Upon creating his territory, he got contaminated with the aura, causing his territory to transform into this state.
Saying so, Ding Ning looked at Jiang Che.
"You’ll need to be careful when you go over there later."
"If you want to conquer, you need to disguise yourself within the territory, deceiving all the evil spirits."
"His territory is much like the werewolf game you humans play."
"The only difference is, over there, he also participates in this game, acting as the identity-verifying prophet."
"And he can verify identities twice each day." Ding Ning looked seriously at Jiang Che.
"What?"
Jiang Che still pondering, Flying Tiger stood stunned in place.
She knew Jiang Che would attempt to conquer all the Lords’ Dungeons later, unsure why but knowing she couldn’t ask more.
"Can’t they deliberately target him?"
"Entering the Dungeon allows direct verification of Jiang Che’s identity. If he is the sole outsider, they will inevitably unite against him." Flying Tiger’s voice carried a hint of urgency and worry.
"No." Ding Ning shook her head.
"Inside, everyone’s aura becomes the same, and many participants join."
"Even if his own subordinates join the game, if identified as not part of the same faction, death is the only choice." Ding Ning’s expression was grave. "So even his subordinates frantically disguise themselves inside."
"Entering his territory, he can hear everything spoken by everyone in the territory. Supposedly he can verify one person a day, but he indeed gathers much information." Ding Ning seriously said.
"Alright, I understand, I’ll be careful later." Jiang Che nodded.
Ding Ning felt a hint of worry; she worried about Jiang Che.
This is among the few Dungeons where she can’t provide Jiang Che with experience.
"Cheng, if you don’t mind, I’ll call you that." Flying Eagle looked at Jiang Che.
At this moment, the twilight’s remnants shaded them with a golden edge.
Flying Eagle’s face carried a trace of fatigue, but his gaze towards Jiang Che was filled with concern.
"Have you played the werewolf game?" He asked Jiang Che, puzzled.
Jiang Che shook his head.
Ding Ning also remained silent; she previously liked parasitizing on Little Evil Spirit to challenge over there, finding the game quite fun.
But now, her brow furrowed, heart full of worry.
If asked genuinely how to conquer here, she couldn’t provide any advice.
Because if the Dungeon identifies the outsider, even if not in the same faction, they’d sacrifice them away.
"If you’ve never played, shall we try?" Flying Eagle pointed above his head.
In the sky, the sunset tinged like blood, densely packed surveillance screens stained like blood, presenting an oppressive feeling.
"I can monitor everything up here; we can familiarize ourselves with the gameplay first." Flying Eagle’s voice broke the brief silence.
He knew well that conquering a Lord’s Dungeon is inherently targeted.
He realized clearly: when visiting another’s place, danger is an absolute.
Previously, thanks to Ding Ning, that octopus creature spared him.
But if Jiang Che actively goes to others’ territories, they may not show mercy.
"Let’s try; I’ll gather more people and rehearse. Don’t mind their dullness, alright?" Flying Eagle spoke as he hurriedly organized manpower.
"You must have your reasons for going; you can propose requests as much as possible, and we’ll recreate the scenario."
"Visiting others’ territories, no matter what, extra caution is necessary." Flying Eagle’s eyes filled with concern, the wind lifting his coat, making his figure appear somewhat frail.
"Even if others claim no malice, never believe it."
Flying Eagle did not hesitate to speak because Ding Ning is a Lord but sincerely advised Jiang Che as a junior.
Ding Ning furrowed her brow; she believed Jiang Che had only mentioned challenging but never revealed the aim of his challenges.
Why did this human directly guess they harbor other intentions?
