Chapter 396: Everyone Dies
Amid the violent shockwaves rippling across the battlefield, Hazel, Racheal, and Ruby stood facing three dragon demigods who had quietly intercepted them.
The first wore a loose black Japanese kimono embroidered with silver dragons that coiled across the fabric. His long black hair hung in a disheveled curtain all the way to his waist, while unnaturally long black nails extended from the oversized sleeves covering his hands.
Standing beside him was a woman dressed in gothic clothing, lazily chewing gum as she rested a black baseball bat across her shoulder. Crimson spikes protruded from the weapon while glowing runes pulsed beneath its surface like flowing blood. The last stood like a walking mountain.
Towering well over twelve feet tall, the giant possessed an impossibly broad frame covered in thick hair. His wild green hair jutted in every direction, his clothes were mismatched, dirty, and poorly fitted, making it obvious no one had cared enough to find him anything decent to wear.
For several long seconds, none of them moved.
All six demigods simply stared toward the enormous pillar of violet demonic energy that had erupted through the unnaturally massive cube of storm clouds representing Fulgur’s domain. Even from this distance, the pressure rolling off that beam was enough to make the surrounding air tremble.
The sheer scale of the eruption caught even the dragons completely off guard.
"He broke through faster than expected," Kai muttered in a raspy voice, his narrow eyes never leaving the collapsing domain.
Beside him, Koi slowly licked her lips while staring at the fading pillar with unconcealed fascination.
"It’s a pity I won’t get the chance to have a taste of him before Lord Kaizer finishes him off." She smiled seductively. "I’m sure he would have been exquisite in bed."
Ruby’s expression immediately darkened as the veins around her eyes twitched violently. This shameless bitch was talking about sleeping with her husband right in front of her.
Emerald light immediately flooded Ruby’s eyes as green serpent scales rapidly spread beneath her skin. The temperature around her dropped several degrees while her murderous intent surged without restraint.
Swoosh!
Before anyone could react, the violet pillar abruptly disappeared and an unnatural silence descended over the battlefield. It was so sudden that everyone instinctively shifted their attention toward the center of the disturbance.
Damian stood silently in midair. His hands rested behind his back while his eyes remained closed. He looked less like a warrior preparing for battle and more like a man confronting a decision he had spent his entire life trying to avoid.
A heavy sigh escaped his lips and his shoulders slowly lowered. Then his eyes opened and the familiar violet irises returned, yet the rest of both eyes had become completely pitch black.
Thin black cracks slowly spread across his face like fractured porcelain, creeping outward from the corners of his eyes while dark demonic energy quietly seeped from the fissures.
Every demon present instinctively held their breath, even Fulgur felt something tighten inside his chest.
"Girls..." Damian spoke quietly.
His voice wasn’t loud, yet somehow every single person heard him with perfect clarity.
"Go gather the others and bring them here safely. I’ll handle the rest."
The calmness in his voice unsettled every dragon present far more than if he had screamed in rage.
Damian slowly raised his empty gaze toward Fulgur and the dragon involuntarily flinched. For the first time since meeting Damian, he felt genuine danger.
Damian then shifted his attention toward the three dragon demigods standing before his wives. The moment his eyes settled upon them, every instinct inside their bodies screamed at once. Their muscles tightened and their breathing became uneven. Even goosebumps spread across their skin without warning.
Even Koi’s seductive smile disappeared.
"For so long all I wanted was to drive every demon and every angel away from this world and allow Earth to exist free from spiritual interference." Damian said softly, his voice continued spreading outward.
It crossed mountains, oceans and entire continents. Reaching every corner of the planet in seconds.
Inside the BlackSheep Firm headquarters in Chicago, Candice stood before the floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the city. Her eyes slowly widened as the sky itself had begun distorting. The clouds rippled unnaturally as though reality had become liquid.
"...Damian?"
She whispered the name almost unconsciously.
Far above the skyline, a faint silhouette slowly became visible. At first it resembled nothing more than a shadow. But it was gradually becoming clearer, just enough for her to recognize him.
He seemed impossibly far away, yet at the same time close enough to touch. But Candice wasn’t alone, across every nation on Earth, people instinctively lifted their heads toward the heavens. They could hear his voice and see his distant figure suspended within the sky itself.
Unknown even to Damian, releasing his power without restraint was distorting reality around him. His inheritance elevated him far beyond what an ordinary demigod should ever become, allowing his very existence to overlap with the world’s perception.
"But you simply refuse to let me save my home and allow my people to live in peace. So here is what will happen. I will eradicate every lifeform I deem unfit to exist on this planet. Once the purge is complete, I will invade your worlds and eradicate everyone you have ever known. This is not a threat. It is a promise."
Silence consumed the Earth.
Even humans who knew those words were not directed toward them felt their legs weaken. Many unknowingly took several steps backward and some dropped to their knees. Others simply stared upward, unable to explain why tears had begun falling from their eyes.
They could hear the pain hidden beneath his calmness. They could feel the unbearable sorrow buried inside every word. The entire world felt as though it was witnessing a man standing on the edge of complete madness.
Koi’s slowly narrowed his eyes.
"Is this the part where we—"
PA!!!!!
A deafening slap echoed across the battlefield.
Kai and the massive green haired dragon instinctively turned toward the sound and their expressions froze. Damian stood exactly where Koi had been, one hand remained casually extended and Koi was still standing.
The upper half of her neck exploded into crimson mist. Her head had completely vanished and the body remained standing purely through momentum.
Her fingers slowly reached toward where her head should have been. She staggered backward several unsteady steps while Damian watched the headless corpse with visible disgust.
"Who gave you permission to speak?" His cold voice slowly echoed across the mountain.
"Bastard!"
Kai and the green dragon exploded into motion. They roared simultaneously as both charged from opposite directions with overwhelming force, intending to crush Damian between them before he could react.
Pfffft!
A wet tearing sound echoed almost lazily through the silence and both dragons jerked violently backward with their eyes widened.
Neither understood what had happened. Only after creating several dozen meters of distance did they finally look down.
Their arms were gone.
Both shoulders ended in ragged fountains of blood. Shock hadn’t even finished settling into their expressions only when Damian stretched outward both hands.
Just before reaching their full extension, his hands were already buried inside both dragons’ chests. Neither dragon even remembered seeing him move. It felt more like they were moved to him.
Bang!
A soft shockwave expanded outward.
Koi’s headless body finally lost all remaining balance and tumbled lifelessly from the sky while Kai and the enormous dragon hung suspended upon Damian’s outstretched arms.
Their mouths opened repeatedly but no sound escaped. Their eyes twitched violently with unbearable pain and absolute disbelief.
Each of Damian’s hands had pierced completely through their chests. His fingers slowly tightened around the warm hearts still beating inside their bodies.
For one final moment...
The dragons looked directly into Damian’s emotionless black eyes. Then, their bodies slowly slid from his arms. Three lifeless figures began falling silently from the sky and none of them had understood how they died.
