Chapter 1566 - 1567: Scheming Relentlessly
Chapter 1567: Scheming
A luxury car pulled up not far from the action team, driven by Chang Fei.
Chang Fei is Yang Yan’s suitor, and this time he came because Yang Yan agreed to go rock climbing with him, so he came with joy in his heart.
This is the first time Yang Yan has agreed to go out on a date with Chang Fei, naturally, Chang Fei took great care to dress up, even arriving earlier than the agreed time.
Yang Yan is well aware that Chang Fei is pursuing her, and she is very cautious in dealing with him.
Chang Fei also understands Yang Yan’s attitude, so he didn’t persist aggressively, striking a balance with a gentle and gentlemanly approach.
The appointed time arrived, but Yang Yan hadn’t come out of the action team.
Chang Fei, full of patience, waited eagerly.
Chang Fei is no stranger to the nature of Yang Yan’s work, so there was no rush on his part, not even a phone call, as he waited quietly in the car.
After fifteen minutes, Yang Yan came out of the action team with a few colleagues.
"The sports car guy is here, is it a date?"
"Rich, gentlemanly, and handsome, there aren’t many good men like that. You should cherish this chance and not brush him off all the time; once this village passes, there won’t be this shop."
"If a man pursued me like this for so long, I would have agreed long ago."
Several colleagues jested noisily. Yang Yan smiled indifferently and after bidding farewell to her colleagues, walked towards Chang Fei.
Chang Fei greeted her with exuberant enthusiasm, sporting a broad smile.
"Sorry, I’m late," Yang Yan said apologetically.
"The one who should be apologizing is me; it’s not that you’re late, it’s that I came early," Chang Fei smiled warmly.
Chang Fei’s humble attitude made Yang Yan feel slightly guilty. She was well aware that Chang Fei was waiting outside, and knowing this, she realized she was late while Chang Fei had arrived early. He showed not the slightest displeasure, instead understandingly; how could Yang Yan not feel guilty?
In such circumstances, Yang Yan felt a bit apologetic towards Chang Fei.
Like a gentleman, Chang Fei opened the car door and invited Yang Yan inside.
On the way, the two laughed and talked.
Rock climbing is a sport requiring a certain adventurous spirit and physical strength.
Rock climbing is one of Yang Yan’s favorite sports, and coincidentally, Chang Fei is also interested in this. After learning this through conversation, Chang Fei took the initiative to invite her, and after slight hesitation, Yang Yan agreed.
After securing the safety gear, Yang Yan gave a shout to Chang Fei and began climbing.
Chang Fei hurriedly fastened his harness, closely trailing behind Yang Yan with a competitive spirit.
The staff watched from the side, offering professional skills and precautions.
Seeing Yang Yan climbing over ten meters up the rock wall, Chang Fei exchanged an inquiring look with the staff.
The staff’s professional-face broke into a ’settled’ expression directed at Chang Fei.
Yang Yan was naturally unaware of Chang Fei’s private exchange with the staff.
At this moment, Yang Yan’s footing was unstable, and she fell from a height.
Swiftly, Chang Fei caught Yang Yan.
This was precisely the situation Chang Fei had orchestrated to create an opportunity.
......
Under Chang Fei’s firm insistence, Yang Yan had to comply with his arrangement to go to the hospital. After tedious examinations, except for slight muscle strain, there were no problems.
Chang Fei’s face was full of worry, only now did his tense mind relax.
"I’ve said before it’s just a minor injury. I’m aware of my own body. You insisted on bringing me to the hospital; was it necessary to make a fuss?" Yang Yan appeared serene but was deeply moved inside.
Whether it was Chang Fei’s worrying appearance or his regard for her, it all stirred her emotions.
"The doctor has checked, so I’m relieved. Better safe than sorry; if anything really happened, it’d be my responsibility. Since I’m the one who invited you out, causing you to get hurt, naturally I couldn’t stand by doing nothing," Chang Fei said earnestly.
"I know you’re worried about me, alright then." Yang Yan rolled her eyes, saying helplessly: "I got hurt through my own carelessness; it has nothing to do with you. Even if it’s genuinely severe, I’ll take responsibility myself. It has nothing to do with you at all."
"If something indeed happened, how could I not have responsibility?" Chang Fei insisted, "In any case, since I invited you out, it’s my responsibility for your safety."
"Don’t be so serious; with that little height, it’s not a crippling injury. Even if it were truly crippling, rest assured, I wouldn’t hold you accountable; you wouldn’t have to bear any responsibility. I can handle it alone," Yang Yan said confidently.
"If you were to blame me, I’d be delighted," Chang Fei responded earnestly, as though confessing.
"Don’t be so serious; nothing happened, right?" Yang Yan pouted, "Blame you? Are you hoping for me to be crippled or something?"
"No, absolutely not. What I meant was..." Chang Fei hurriedly explained as if afraid Yang Yan might misunderstand.
Before he could finish a sentence, Yang Yan interrupted him and said: "I know what you mean, I’m joking with you so don’t take it so seriously, okay?"
Chang Fei smiled happily, then pursued responsibility: "If anyone’s to blame, it’s the rock climbing equipment being unsafe; I even feel like lodging a complaint."
Just then, a doctor passed by, greeting Chang Fei familiarly, then turned to Yang Yan and asked uncertainly: "Is this your girlfriend? Bringing your girlfriend to visit your mother?"
"No, just a regular friend," Chang Fei hurriedly explained, lest the doctor’s misunderstanding displease Yang Yan.
After a brief greeting, the doctor walked away.
"Your mother?" Yang Yan asked eagerly, "Is your mother here?"
Her expression was full of surprise, as there were many things she didn’t know about Chang Fei.
Suddenly hearing that Chang Fei’s mother was in the hospital, Yang Yan couldn’t help but be astonished.
"My mother is in poor health, recuperating in the hospital, requiring twenty-four-hour care," Chang Fei’s expression suddenly fell, full of sadness.
Yang Yan immediately guessed roughly, hesitantly asking: "Is your aunt sick? May I visit her?"
"This..." Chang Fei hesitated, unsure how to answer.
"If it’s inconvenient then never mind, I wouldn’t want aunt to misunderstand our relationship as overly close," Yang Yan said candidly.
Chang Fei was visibly anxious; he explained: "It’s not inconvenient to visit, however, my mother is bedridden, breathing is sustained by a ventilator, and her mental agility has severely declined, she doesn’t even recognize me, her son. So, visiting doesn’t hold any significance."
"Sorry, I didn’t know, I made you recall distressing matters," Yang Yan said self-reproachfully.
"It’s fine, I’m used to it," Chang Fei said, feigning resilience.
