Chapter 120: Re-registration II
Inside, Kaiser approached the same female receptionist who had assisted him before.
She looked at Kaiser before glancing at his parents.
"You should party with people your own age," she said casually while puffing out a smoke ring.
Kaiser stared at her.
"What are you talking about? They’re my parents. They’re here to have their adventurer cards re-registered."
His parents smiled politely.
"Hello."
The receptionist nodded and looked at them.
"Fine. Names?"
She took out a crystal ball while collecting their old Adventurer Cards.
The cards were completely blank.
After their expiration, all the information stored on them had been erased.
"Michael Storm," his father said.
"Emilia Storm," his mother added.
The receptionist placed their cards into the registration device and checked the information.
"Hmm. Both of your cards expired five years ago."
She looked at them.
"The renewal fee is 100 Cosmic Coins each. With the penalty for failing to renew your cards for so long, the total comes to 2,000 Cosmic Coins each."
Kaiser nodded and immediately paid the required amount.
The receptionist returned the cards.
They were no longer blank. Their names and other information had been restored, and both of them were now registered as F-Rank Adventurers.
"The penalty for not completing any missions over the past few years means you’ll have to start again from F-Rank."
His parents simply nodded.
They didn’t mind.
They had no intention of worrying about their old ranks anymore.
Kaiser then spoke up.
"I’d also like to submit my quest."
The receptionist looked at him.
"Which one?"
Kaiser placed the Goblin Extermination Quest on the counter.
"Hmm. For this quest, you only need to present the goblins’ ears. Your reward will be based on the number of goblins you’ve killed."
Kaiser smiled.
"That’s a problem."
The receptionist raised an eyebrow.
"What problem?"
"The counter is too small."
She looked at him strangely.
"Hmm? Did you bring the entire corpses? If so, you should take them to the Necromancer or Black Magic Tower. They should be willing to purchase the corpses."
Kaiser shook his head.
"No. I only brought their ears."
The receptionist stared at him.
"Are you joking? How many ears did you bring for the counter to be too small?"
Kaiser reached into his inventory and pulled out a large bag.
He placed it on the counter.
The bag was stained with violet and green blood from the goblins and other monsters he had killed.
Kaiser looked at the receptionist.
"See? It’s not that big."
The receptionist stared at the bag for a moment.
Then Kaiser casually added,
"I have twenty more bags like this."
The receptionist stared at Kaiser for several seconds.
"Twenty more?"
Kaiser nodded.
"Yes."
She slowly looked at the large bag on the counter again.
"How many goblins did you kill?"
"I don’t know exactly. I didn’t count them."
She looked at him and nodded " well, it’s good enough for us if you exterminates these blue bastards, they multiply like plague." she said.
She opened the bag and checked its contents.
Her expression quickly changed.
"There are a lot of ears in here."
She pulled out several of them and placed them on the counter.
"Wait here. I’ll need someone else to verify this."
She waved to another guild employee.
"Bring the quest verification crystal."
The employee quickly returned with a large crystal.
The receptionist placed several goblin ears beside it and activated the crystal.
A faint light spread across the counter.
[Target verified.]
[Race: Frost Goblin]
[Quest-related monster confirmed.]
The receptionist nodded.
"Alright. These are genuine."
She looked at Kaiser.
"Bring the other bags."
Kaiser took out the remaining twenty bags from his inventory and placed them on the floor beside the counter.
The receptionist stared at the growing pile.
"You really weren’t joking."
Kaiser shrugged.
"I told you."
His father looked at the bags and shook his head.
"How many goblins did you actually kill?"
Kaiser thought for a moment.
"Probably several thousand."
His mother looked at him in surprise.
"Several thousand?"
Kaiser nodded.
"There were many camps in the mountains."
The receptionist nodded.
"Hmm, the number may seem large, but given these blue bastards’ reproduction rate, they will repopulate the area in just a week."
She picked up the crystal and scanned all the bags at once.
After a few seconds, she finished counting everything.
"Your total comes to 78,792 Frost Goblins, 12,987 Frost Hobgoblins and Shamans, and 6,879 Frost Goblin Lords."
She checked the final results before continuing.
"Frost Goblins are worth 5 Cosmic Coins each, Frost Hobgoblins and Shamans are worth 10 Cosmic Coins each, and Frost Goblin Lords are worth 30 Cosmic Coins each."
She quickly calculated the total reward.
"That brings your total reward to 779,520 Cosmic Coins."
Kaiser nodded, but the receptionist suddenly looked at him.
"Also now you only need to kill another 1,208 monsters to fulfill the requirement for your next rank."
Kaiser’s father raised an eyebrow.
"He killed close to 100,000 monsters, yet that’s still not enough to rank up?"
The receptionist looked at him with a matter-of-fact expression.
"That’s the rule here. You need to exterminate 100,000 monsters to rank up. Monsters are relatively easy to find in this region, so this rule was implemented after many adventurers lost their lives after reaching a new rank without having enough combat experience."
She paused before continuing.
"However, there is another benefit. Outside Winter Hold City, adventurer ranks are considered one rank higher than they are here. That means if you reach Rank A here, your adventurer rank will be considered Rank S in most other cities, except for the fortress cities."
Kaiser nodded thoughtfully.
"Hmm, okay. So, what’s the requirement for Rank D?"
The receptionist looked at him.
"Of course, it’s 300,000 monsters."
Kaiser nodded calmly.
"Three hundred thousand, huh?"
He wasn’t particularly worried.
After all, judging by the number of monsters in this region, reaching that number was only a matter of time.
"Okay, you can transfer the money to it," he said, handing her his adventurer card.
She nodded and transferred the money directly to his adventurer card.
The adventurer card also functioned as a money-storage card. However, it wasn’t real money. Instead, it was a special form of digital currency created and managed by the Adventurer’s Guild. Only the Adventurer’s Guild could deposit money into the card, while adventurers could use the stored funds to make purchases and payments.
