Chapter 70: Battle
The Royal Guard Captain raised its greatsword and stepped forward.
Molten Slime immediately moved in front of Kaiser.
The slime’s body expanded as it transformed into a large mass of molten metal and stone. It took the first attack directly.
The Royal Guard Captain swung its greatsword downward.
Boom!
The blade struck Molten Slime and pushed its body several meters backward, but the attack failed to break through its defenses.
Grand Blood Warlock moved alongside Molten Slime and attacked from the side.
Marina also rushed forward.
She avoided another swing from the greatsword and attacked the demon knight’s legs.
Kaiser remained behind them.
He raised his hand and immediately cast Purifying Radiance.
A powerful beam of light struck the Royal Guard Captain’s armor.
The demonic knight’s body shook as the holy light burned through its demonic energy.
Kaiser followed with Golden Radiance Wave.
A large golden arc of light flew forward and struck the Royal Guard Captain across the chest.
The attack pushed the demon several steps backward.
Kaiser did not give it time to recover.
"Light Bullet."
Several bullets of concentrated light appeared around him and flew toward the Royal Guard Captain.
The bullets struck its armor one after another.
Because the Royal Guard Captain possessed a strong demonic nature, the Light Bullets dealt considerably more damage than normal attacks.
Kaiser continued firing while maintaining his distance.
His Bond skill allowed him to create bullets using the affinities he possessed, and Light Bullet was especially effective against undead, demonic, and darkness-based enemies.
He fired another group of Light Bullets.
The Royal Guard Captain raised its greatsword and blocked several of them, but some bullets passed around the weapon and struck its body.
At the same time, Marina attacked from the side.
She struck the demon’s leg and forced it to turn toward her.
Molten Slime immediately took advantage of the opening.
Its body expanded and wrapped around the Royal Guard Captain’s legs.
The demon tried to break free, but the molten material hardened around its armor.
Grand Blood Warlock then attacked its back.
Kaiser continued supporting them from behind.
"Bone Arrow Creation."
Several large bone arrows formed in the air.
Kaiser fired them toward the Royal Guard Captain.
The arrows struck the demon’s armor and caused several cracks to appear.
Kaiser followed with another Golden Radiance Wave.
The golden wave swept across the battlefield and struck the Royal Guard Captain directly.
The demon knight roared and broke free from Molten Slime.
It charged toward Kaiser.
Molten Slime immediately moved between them.
The Royal Guard Captain swung its greatsword.
The weapon slammed into Molten Slime’s body and sent a large amount of molten material flying into the air.
However, the attack still failed to reach Kaiser.
Kaiser calmly raised his hand.
"Light Bullet."
A single bright bullet appeared.
He fired it directly at the Royal Guard Captain’s helmet.
The bullet struck its head and caused the demon to stagger.
Marina immediately rushed forward and attacked its exposed side.
Grand Blood Warlock also moved in and attacked from behind.
The Royal Guard Captain was surrounded from three directions while Kaiser continued attacking from a distance.
Kaiser kept using Light Bullet because it consumed very little mana compared to his stronger spells.
He fired one group after another.
The Royal Guard Captain’s armor gradually became damaged.
Several pieces of black armor broke apart, revealing the dark body underneath.
Kaiser then used Purifying Radiance again.
The beam struck the exposed area and burned through the demon’s demonic energy.
The Royal Guard Captain tried to retreat toward the palace gates.
Kaiser noticed its movement.
"Don’t let it escape."
Molten Slime immediately blocked its path.
Marina attacked its legs again while Grand Blood Warlock struck its back.
The demon knight was forced to stop.
Kaiser raised both hands.
"Golden Radiance Wave."
Two large golden waves formed in front of him.
They crossed the battlefield and struck the Royal Guard Captain from opposite directions.
Boom!
The demon’s body was pushed backward.
Its armor shattered in several places.
Kaiser then fired another group of Light Bullets.
The concentrated attacks struck the damaged areas of its body.
The Royal Guard Captain finally dropped to one knee.
Its greatsword fell from its hand.
Kaiser looked at it for a moment before raising his hand again.
"Purifying Radiance."
A final beam of golden light struck the demon knight.
The remaining demonic energy inside its body was burned away.
The Royal Guard Captain collapsed onto the ground.
Kaiser lowered his hand.
Marina walked over and looked at the fallen boss.
"That was much easier with everyone working together."
Kaiser nodded.
"Molten Slime is doing most of the defensive work, while you and Grand Blood Warlock handle close-range attacks."
He looked at his hands.
"My role is mainly long-range support."
"This combination works well."
He walked toward the fallen Royal Guard Captain and checked the dungeon notifications.
[Royal Guard Captain defeated.]
[A large amount of EXP has been acquired.]

[You have acquired the Epic-Rank item: Oath Demon Greatsword.]
[Soul Smith Talent activated.]
[You have acquired the Royal Guard Captain’s Soul.]
"Nice. I also got his soul."
Kaiser nodded as he stored the demonic knight’s body in his inventory as well.
"Let’s go to the next mini-boss."
Marina and the others nodded.
There were four mini-bosses in this dungeon.
They were the four Royal Guards, each stationed in a different area of the ruined palace and guarding it from one of the four directions.
After defeating all four Royal Guards, they could enter the palace and face the final boss of the dungeon, the Devil-Contracted King.
The group continued through the ruined palace grounds.
Their next destination was the eastern section, where another Royal Guard was stationed.
After walking for some time, they reached a large courtyard.
A massive demon was standing in the center of it.
Unlike the Royal Guard Captain, this demon wielded a huge great hammer.
Kaiser looked at it for a moment.
"That’s the second Royal Guard."
The demon noticed them and immediately charged forward.
Molten Slime moved to the front and blocked its first attack.
