Chapter 71: Battle II
Molten Slime moved to the front and blocked its first attack.
The great hammer slammed into its body, but Molten Slime absorbed most of the impact.
Grand Blood Warlock attacked from the side while Marina moved around the demon and targeted its legs bounding them with her holy mist.
Kaiser stayed behind them and continued using his ranged attacks.
He mainly used Light Bullet against the Royal Guard because of its effectiveness against demonic enemies.
He also used Purifying Radiance and Golden Radiance Wave whenever he had an opportunity to deal heavier damage.
The fight continued for several minutes.
With Molten Slime constantly blocking the demon’s attacks and Marina and Grand Blood Warlock attacking from different directions, the Royal Guard was eventually overwhelmed.
Kaiser finished it with another Golden Radiance Wave.
[Royal Guard defeated.]

Kaiser checked the notifications.
He waited for another notification from his Soul Smith Talent, but nothing appeared.
"Hmm, no soul this time."
Kaiser was slightly disappointed, but he did not think too much about it.
He stored the Royal Guard’s body in his inventory along with its great hammer.
"Let’s move to the next one."
Marina and the others followed him.
The third Royal Guard was stationed in the northern section of the ruined palace.
This one wielded a massive battle axe.
The fight was similar to the previous one.
Molten Slime continued to act as the main tank while Marina and Grand Blood Warlock attacked from the sides.
Kaiser supported them from behind with his spells.
He used Light Bullet most of the time because it was efficient against the demonic enemy.
Whenever the Royal Guard became exposed, he used Purifying Radiance or Golden Radiance Wave to deal heavier damage.
After a short battle, the third Royal Guard was defeated.
[Royal Guard defeated.]

Kaiser looked at the notification.
"Still no soul."
He stored the body and the battle axe in his inventory.
"Only one more."
The group then headed toward the western section.
The final Royal Guard was waiting there.
This Royal Guard was equipped with a large spear and wore heavy black armor.
It immediately attacked when Kaiser and the others entered its territory.
Molten Slime blocked the spear and held the Royal Guard in place.
Marina quickly moved around it and attacked its exposed side.
Grand Blood Warlock joined her while Kaiser continued firing Light Bullets from a safe distance.
The Royal Guard tried to break through Molten Slime several times, but it could not reach Kaiser.
Kaiser continued supporting the battle with Purifying Radiance and Golden Radiance Wave.
After several minutes of fighting, the Royal Guard finally collapsed.

Kaiser walked over and stored the Royal Guard’s body.
He checked his inventory and looked at the four weapons he had obtained.
The Oath Demon Greatsword.
The Oath Demon Great Hammer.
The Oath Demon Battle Axe.
The Oath Demon Spear.
"Not bad."
Kaiser nodded.
"All four are Epic-Rank weapons."
He had also obtained the bodies of all four Royal Guards.
However, his Soul Smith Talent had only activated once, when he defeated the Royal Guard Captain.
"This talent really have very low chance of activating"
He stopped thinking about it.
"Anyway, we have defeated all four Royal Guards."
Kaiser looked toward the massive ruined palace in the distance.
The path was finally open.
"Now we can enter the palace."
Marina nodded.
"Yes, Master."
Kaiser and his three companions began walking toward the palace.
Beyond those gates was the final boss of the dungeon.
The Devil-Contracted King.
Kaiser and his companions entered the ruined palace.
The inside was much larger than it appeared from outside.
Broken pillars stood along the sides of the enormous hall, while dark red crystals grew from the walls and floor. Several old weapons and pieces of armor were scattered across the ground.
At the end of the hall was a large throne.
A man was sitting on it.
He wore damaged black armor with dark red lines running across it. His long black hair fell over his shoulders, and a large black sword rested beside his throne.
Kaiser immediately used Mana Sense.
A powerful demonic aura filled the entire room.
"So that’s the Devil-Contracted King."
The man slowly opened his eyes.
"...Are you here to take my crown too?"
His voice was calm.
Kaiser looked at him carefully.
"What if I am?"
The Devil-Contracted King stood up.
"Then come and take my head if you want the throne for yourself."
A powerful wave of demonic energy spread through the hall.
Marina immediately moved forward.
She raised her hand and activated her talent.
"Atomizer."
The holy water stored within her vials was instantly converted into a fine mist.
The mist spread throughout the area around her.
Marina controlled its movement with her mind, forming several streams of holy mist around the Devil-Contracted King.
The demon king’s expression changed slightly.
"Holy water."
Marina nodded.
"That’s right."
The mist suddenly condensed around his right arm.
The holy water struck his armor and began burning through the demonic energy covering his body.
The Devil-Contracted King immediately moved.
He disappeared from his position and appeared in front of Marina.
His sword swung toward her.
Molten Slime immediately moved between them.
"Molten Armor."
A thick layer of molten metal covered its body.
The sword struck Molten Slime.
Boom!
The impact pushed the slime backward, but its body absorbed most of the damage.
Molten Slime immediately used Rolling Charge.
Its entire body compressed into a massive ball of molten material before rolling forward at high speed.
The Devil-Contracted King jumped over it.
Grand Blood Warlock raised his hand.
"Blood Spear."
Several blood spears appeared in the air and flew toward the Devil-Contracted King.
The demon king blocked them with his sword.
Grand Blood Warlock immediately followed with Blood Bolt.
Several red bolts struck the demon king’s armor.
Kaiser remained behind them.
"Light Bullet."
A series of bright bullets flew toward the Devil-Contracted King.
The bullets struck his body and exploded against his demonic aura.
The Devil-Contracted King looked toward Kaiser.
"You are the leader here."
