Chapter 77: Alex II
Alex nodded.
"That sounds useful."
The elf captain led him through several streets before stopping in front of a large wooden building.
A sign with the symbol of a sword and shield was hanging above the entrance.
"This is the Adventurer Association."
Alex looked at the building.
"Thanks for bringing me here."
The elf captain nodded.
"You can handle the rest yourself."
He then turned toward the other guards.
"We can leave now."
The guards followed him and soon disappeared into the street.
Alex watched them leave before entering the Adventurer Association.
The inside was much larger than it looked from outside.
Several counters were arranged along the walls, and many elves were sitting at tables in the middle of the hall.
Some adventurers were discussing dungeon information, while others were checking quest boards.
Alex walked toward an empty counter.
A female elf sitting behind it looked up.
"Welcome to the Adventurer Association. How can I help you?"
"I want to register as an adventurer."
The receptionist nodded.
"Of course."
She took out a small crystal.
"Place your hand on this."
Alex looked at the crystal.
"Will it reveal my status?"
The receptionist shook her head.
"No. It only records the information required for adventurer registration."
Alex nodded.
He placed his hand on the crystal.
The crystal glowed for a moment.
The receptionist looked at the result.
"Name?"
"Alex."
"Race?"
"Human."
"Level?"
Alex hesitated briefly before answering.
"Level 18."
He deliberately gave a lower level.
His father had already warned him not to reveal too much information.
The receptionist entered the information into the registration device.
"Do you have any combat experience?"
"Some."
"What class do you have?"
Alex thought for a moment.
"Golden Knight."
The receptionist nodded and continued entering the information.
"Do you have any special talents?"
Alex shook his head.
"I don’t have anything worth mentioning."
The receptionist did not ask further.
She finished the registration and handed him a small metal card.
"This is your adventurer card."
Alex accepted it.
"Thank you."
The receptionist pointed toward the quest board.
"You can accept quests according to your rank. Since you are a new adventurer, you will start at F-Rank."
Alex looked at the board.
There were many quests listed.
Most of them involved gathering herbs, hunting low-level monsters, or escorting merchants.
Alex thought about it.
"I’ll look around first."
"Of course."
Alex stepped away from the counter.
He looked at the different quests while thinking about his next move.
He had already spent a considerable amount of time traveling through the forest.
He needed money, information, and a place to stay.
More importantly, he needed to understand this area of the Cosmic World.
Alex took out his Cosmic System interface privately.
His father had warned him to be extremely careful.
The Cosmic World was much more dangerous than their home world, and Alex had no idea who might be watching him.
He closed the interface.
"First, I need to learn more about this place."
He looked around the Adventurer Association.
"I should probably find someone who can explain the current situation of the Emerald Leaf Kingdom."
Alex then noticed a group of adventurers sitting near the corner of the hall.
They were discussing a dungeon.
Alex walked toward them.
"Excuse me."
The group looked at him.
One of the elves raised an eyebrow.
"What do you want?"
"I’m new here, so I wanted to ask about the area."
The elf looked at his adventurer card.
"You’re an F-Rank?"
"Yes."
The elf relaxed slightly.
"If you want information, you should ask the receptionist."
"I already did, but I wanted to hear from actual adventurers."
The elf smiled.
"Fair enough."
He moved slightly to make room.
"Sit down."
Alex sat with them.
The elf pointed toward the map on the table.
"This is the Emerald Leaf Kingdom."
He pointed to several marked locations.
"We have several cities and many smaller settlements."
"Most of the nearby forests are safe, but the deeper areas contain stronger monsters."
Alex looked at the map carefully.
"Are there any good dungeons nearby?"
The elf smiled.
"Now that’s the right question."
"There are several dungeons in this region."
"Some are suitable for low-level adventurers, while others are extremely dangerous."
Alex nodded.
"Which one is the best for leveling?"
The elves looked at him.
One of them laughed.
"You really are new here."
Alex smiled awkwardly.
"I’m trying to catch up."
The elf pointed toward another location on the map.
"Then start with the Greenwood Cave. It’s only a few hours from the city."
"It’s an F-Rank dungeon, and most of the monsters inside are between Level 10 and Level 25."
Alex’s eyes lit up.
"That sounds perfect."
The elf nodded.
"Just don’t go too deep alone."
Alex nodded.
"I’ll remember that."
He stood up.
"Thanks for the information."
The elf waved his hand.
"No problem."
Alex walked away from the group and looked toward the entrance.
He now had a basic understanding of the city, a place where he could get quests, and a nearby dungeon suitable for his current level.
"Looks like I know where I’m going next."
He left the Adventurer Association and began looking for an inn.
Before entering a dungeon, he wanted to get some rest and learn more about the Emerald Leaf Kingdom.
On the other side of the Cosmic World, Alicia had also entered the Cosmic World.
Before leaving, she had taken enough supplies from her guild to survive for some time.
Unlike Alex, who had appeared deep inside a forest, Alicia had arrived in a much better location.
She found herself in an open area near a human settlement.
A small village was only a few minutes away on foot.
Alicia looked at the village in the distance and sighed in relief.
"Thankfully, I arrived in a good location."
She looked around carefully.
"Still, I can’t lower my guard."
"I should first see what kind of village this is."
Alicia quietly used the Extra Life Ticket that her guild had given her.
The ticket disappeared from her hand.
