Chapter 59: Jenny Said: Answer Me!
"T-Thank you...? But are you sure you’re going without the gun...? Even your sword broke earlier."
Fredrinn laughed, "Yes. I am going to be fine."
Andrea nodded to his words.
If he insisted, then she had no reason to decline. In addition, she really did feel safer with the pistol in her hands.
Although, it felt heavy and awkward.
She took another glance around the room and her eyes met with Aadav’s.
The brown man was staring at her with gritted teeth, feeling like he was getting punked over here.
Not only did Fredrinn take his gun without any intentions to return it, he also gave it to his girlfriend instead??
The one who clearly had no experience with handling a firearm?
But of course, with Fredrinn present, there was nothing that Aadav could do about it. It simply stung him.
Others inside the room didn’t comment on Fredrinn’s choice either except for the fact that everyone was now staring at Andrea in jealousy.
It caused a rise in her embarrassment, but Andrea shook her head inwardly.
Fredrinn was no fool. He trusted his gun with her for a reason and she wasn’t going to let him down.
So she controlled her blushing expressions and silently stored the gun behind her back, just like Fredrinn does.
Seeing that, Fredrinn smiled.
"So, this is the group that’s going?" He turned around and questioned in a casual tone, looking at the small group gathered on one side.
Max, Aadav, Charlie, Jenny and finally one other non awakened human that was carrying a pistol.
Including Fredrinn, it was a 6 person squad.
The group nodded along. Max was casual while Charlie gave him a respectful look.
A look that he always gave when looking at Fredrinn ever since he defeated him in the arm wrestling match and gave some advice.
Jenny squinted her eyes when looking at him. She didn’t speak anything, but just by the look on her face, Fredrinn could guess that she was urging him to address the traitor’s situation now.
Fredrinn chuckled. "Alright, so my idea is quite simple. All the traitors will be heading out along with us and I believe that 1 mistake doesn’t dictate a person’s life. If they prove to be helpful, we will allow them to rejoin our group in our journey to the Ohio base."
After suffering from the repeated death threats by all the survivors, all the members of the unchosen had seemingly accepted their fate already.
Their eyes were gloomy, tears staining their cheek as some had even pulled out a chunk of hair out of frustration.
After all, they couldn’t regret it enough that they fell for Adrian and Chubby and Beanpole’s provocations. They believed that they would be able to survive and loot all the guns and valuables once everyone was dealt with.
Using those, they could make their way towards the Ohio base themselves.
It would’ve been a worthy story to tell the girls and kids, how despite the circumstances, they came out on top.
That was the ideal result.
But unfortunately...
The reality played out much, much differently...
So hearing Fredrinn’s shocking and unexpected suggestion, light started to return in their eyes.
They felt hope. Something they had forgotten already.
Jenny stared at Fredrinn speechlessly, her lips parted and eyes widened.
That was not something that she had expected at all! This wasn’t something that he told her last night!
He told her that killing them was the best option, and that’s what had been on her mind all night long.
Why was he changing his mind now?!
Before she knew it, she had already moved towards him, staring up at him, fuming.
"What are you even talking about, Fredrinn? This isn’t what we discussed at all!" She said in a low tone, not wanting to challenge his words in public directly.
Fredrinn smiled, "That angry expression looks cute on you, surprisingly." he said casually, making her eyes go colder and her lips become flatter.
Of course, that was only on the surface.
Inwardly, Jenny was struggling to maintain her angry look.
"Answer me." She hissed.
"Well... I hate wastage, you know? We all don’t know how dangerous outside has become, but you have seen that zombies are getting stronger.
Last night, the one that I killed was strong enough to injure you gravely. You agree to that, don’t you?" Fredrinn replied.
Jenny paused, before looking at him suspiciously and nodding, "Yes...? I agree with that. It was like he was immune to bullets. Either that or I just wasn’t shooting at the right place."
She shook her head, continuing, " I was curious when you defeated him and wanted to ask how you did it, but after looking at the state of the corpse, I just didn’t know how to. How’s that related to those traitors though?"
"It’s simple. They would serve as deterrence if we meet any foes that we cannot defeat. Their lives are worthless to me." Fredrinn said with a casual shrug.
’I doubt we will meet any zombie I cannot defeat though.’ He thought inwardly, but chose not to say it.
He was pretending to be only level 15 at the moment and he didn’t have a need to blow his cover so soon.
Hearing his casually brutal idea, Jenny blinked and stared at him in a stupor.
She had made up her mind to get rid of them already. Convinced herself that it was for the best.
But now he went ahead and suggested even crazier and bone-chilling idea.
And the scarier part was how easily he said it.
’It must be his memories... He said he doesn’t remember anything about family, friends, anything. Must be hard to feel any warmth for someone when he doesn’t even know how it feels.’ Jenny’s inner voice murmured in a sympathetic tone as her eyes got softer while looking at him.
The urge to hug him came again, but she forcibly held it back.
There was no way she was going to hug him out of nowhere in front of such a large crowd! Especially after he just gave his valuable gun to another woman!
But what she didn’t expect was...
She felt a pair of hands wrapping around her waist and pulling her in a hug.
