Chapter 61: Unfair But She Don’t Care
Andrea stared at the intrusive blonde bitch, "What a coincidence." She said sarcastically.
Fredrinn chuckled and nodded along, "Coincidence indeed."
Jenny only shrugged in response as the small cooking group began to shuffle around in front of them.
A few moments later, Rhea walked outwards where the crowd was gathering to eat. She was carrying a tray, filled with different flavours of cup noodles and cup ramen.
She saw at the front and instantly noticed Fredrinn, sitting between Jennifer and Andrea while chatting with them casually.
Though, it was mostly just underlying jabs that Andrea and Jenny took at each other.
Aadav, next to Jenny, tried to involve himself in conversation once in a while but then gave up and talked to the person on the other side of him, the non-awakened man from Max’s group.
Rhea smiled, happily wandering towards Fredrinn as she teased, "Cup ramen or noodles? Don’t worry, I didn’t add the sauce packet in the ramen this time."
Fredrinn chuckled looking back at her.
With a tray full of steaming cups, she looked so gorgeous. Her brunette hair tied into a messy bun and her last night’s scared face was wiped cleanly off.
Now she looked as normal and happy as ever.
"I don’t trust you at all. I will take the noodles. Some new flavour though, you can recommend." Fredrinn shrugged.
"Heh, what an irony." Rhea scoffed, clicking her tongue, "Telling me that you don’t trust me and asking me for recommendation just a second later. How shameless."
Fredrinn glanced at Jenny, and then Andrea, before looking back at Rhea with a playful smirk.
Even though he said nothing, his words were loud and clear to her.
’Can’t you see I have always been shameless?’ Or something along those lines.
She blushed as the thoughts of her having a chance came inside her head, but she pushed them down and placed a flavour of cup noodles in front of him, before placing another one for Andrea and Jenny.
She didn’t even try to ask for anyone else’s choices, as she randomly emptied her tray to others and disappeared back into the ’cooking area’.
With apocalypse knocking on the door and having food in itself was a luxury, no one complained about their gains as they began to dive into the food presented in front of them.
Most of it were cup noodles and cup ramen, the easiest dish to cook since all they needed was hot water.
Though, Rhea did swing by a few minutes later and dropped off a couple of apples for her friends as well as Jenny and other awakeners.
It was blatant favouritism, but what could others do about it?
All they could feel was that it was unfair that Andrea was enjoying such privileges when she had no right to. As for others, everyone else had earned it.
Andrea could also feel it in other’s eyes. The envy. The scorn. The quiet curses.
It wasn’t something that staying with Fredrinn could fix, but luckily, it didn’t need fixing in the first place.
Andrea never suffered from low self-esteem or confidence. She knew that she didn’t deserve this treatment, but she wouldn’t give up on it either.
After all, making connections was her unawakened skill.
She was the first one to choose Fredrinn as her partner, when no one knew much about him and his reputation wasn’t that good due to his lies.
With the gun behind her back, she felt even more confident as she enjoyed the food alongside Fredrinn and occasionally bickering with Jenny.
Time ticked by fast and soon, half an hour went by.
Everyone began to get off the floor as Fredrinn cracked his neck and pushed himself up, stretching his body.
Andrea was staring at him with wide, puppy eyes. Her hair was flowing down her back and her lips slightly puffy from the spicy flavour of ramen she just ate.
"Don’t look at me like that." Fredrinn chuckled when he saw her look.
"Or what?" Andrea hummed.
"Or..." He leaned closer and whispered, "I am going to lose my control and take you here. So unless you’re into exhibitionism, control~"
The tips of her ear turned red as she gulped her saliva with a mix of anticipation and embarrassment.
Though, she tried to keep the strength behind her words, "I am- Uhm, I am surprised you even know that word."
Fredrinn ruffled her head warmly, "Keep the gun on yourself at all times and just use it without hesitation if you feel something’s off. There are only 4 bullets left in it, so use them wisely if need comes." He reminded in a low voice.
Andrea nodded stiffly.
When Fredrinn turned around to leave with the group that was going outside, every fiber in her body urged her to stop him, to tell him to be careful and come back safe.
But... she controlled that urge. She had heard guys don’t like clingy girls too much, so she wasn’t going to act too needy.
Though, she couldn’t hold it for too long as the moment he took a couple steps forward, she suddenly hugged him from behind.
Fredrinn stopped at the moment.
He didn’t turn around, but she knew that he was both surprised and pleased by her actions.
"What’s wrong?" His teasing, but gentle voice asked calmly.
"Nothing, just feeling how your body feels for one more time in case you come back in a body bag or something." She replied with a cough.
Fredrinn turned around and tilted her chin upwards, smirking as he looked into her gorgeously deep blue eyes.
Like the overconfident prick he had always been, he scoffed.
"Sweetheart, if there’s something out there that’s capable of killing me, I don’t think anyone would be able to get me back here in a body bag."
But, the way he said it while tilting her head and looking in her eyes, Andrea’s heart skipped several beats.
She forcibly turned her head away, breaking the eye contact as she pushed him off from herself.
"Get lost, don’t speak bullshit."
