Chapter 114: Desperate Worms
He also had to remain vigilant. For now, he intended to avoid anyone above Level 1500, as he wasn’t sure whether he could defeat them.
Down below, his Deadborns were destroying the demonic army alongside the human army with full force. Moonclaw turned countless demons and demonic beasts into bloody paste.
It looked like a true Fenrir on the battlefield. With its colossal size, it roared as it devoured demons in a single bite, crushing them within its massive jaws.
The Lich unleashed waves of dark energy and powerful spells, eradicating both demons and demonic beasts. The same was true for the Chimera, which continuously fired elemental attacks while creating a strong line of defense for the advancing human army.
Nova was flooded with system notifications as he shared the experience points with his Deadborns. A satisfied smile appeared on his face as he ordered Moonclaw to consume the body of the cultist he had killed before turning it into a Deadborn.
This would help Moonclaw reach the King Realm. Deadborns didn’t need to undergo evolution upon reaching Level 1000, so Moonclaw would become Nova’s first Deadborn to step into the King Realm.
Nova charged through the sky as his figure blurred. Rouve transformed into a large, sharp sword, and Nova cautiously targeted the lower-level King Realm cultists, cutting them down with precise, efficient strikes.
It would have been nearly impossible for Nova to fight these experts if it weren’t for his Demonic Dominion Aura, which continuously suppressed the demonic energy within the cultists.
Since Nova’s demonic energy was far purer than theirs, the combination of his Demonic Dominion Aura and his killing intent allowed him to kill them far more effectively.
Nova killed more than fifty King Realm experts. Whenever higher-level King Realm experts tried to attack him, he activated Void Veil, concealed his presence, and reappeared beside weaker opponents before killing them.
As Nova killed the King Realm experts, he turned them into Deadborns, steadily adding King Realm warriors to his legion. However, he could only accomplish this with the assistance of the human King’s Realm experts, who kept the stronger enemies occupied.
This continued for several hours.
By now, Nova’s Deadborn army had grown to several thousand, covering a large portion of the battlefield with black, shadowy creatures marked by glowing purple patterns. His legion now contained several thousand grandmasters and several hundreds of King Realm warriors.
It wasn’t as though the demonic army was doing nothing.
They had slaughtered several thousand human soldiers. Many King Realm experts had also fallen. The battlefield had become nothing less than a horrific nightmare.
The cultists destroyed countless Deadborns, yet they never truly died, as they continued to rise again and again.
The demonic army was suffering heavy losses, while the human army steadily gained confidence that they might actually win.
By now, Nova had reached the threshold of breaking through to Level 1000, but he couldn’t afford to break through in the middle of the battle.
Azren and Voren had tried to kill him several times, but Albert and Ron stopped them every single time.
Nova had already discovered the true objective of the demonic army and learned about the heart of Demon Lord Raze. He understood just how grave the situation was, but he was powerless to stop it.
All he could do was struggle to survive.
Azren was growing increasingly impatient. He watched as Nova became a major nuisance to his army, and he needed to reach the Gates of the Abyss as quickly as possible, even if it meant sacrificing his own forces.
He looked toward Voren and gave him a slight nod.
Voren understood immediately. He had always followed Azren’s orders without question, so he simply nodded in response.
Azren and Voren activated their Domains together. Albert and Ron’s expressions changed as they immediately tried to stop them.
"NO, STOP—!"
But they were too late. Both Domains were already activated.
Since both Demon Generals possessed the Darkness affinity, the world was once again engulfed in darkness. A terrifying heavenly pressure descended upon everyone present.
One by one, every warrior was forced to the ground.
Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!
Like rocks falling from the sky, countless warriors crashed onto the ground with tremendous force. Nova and his Deadborns were no exception.
Nova was slammed down with even greater force, as Azren was deliberately targeting him.
Cough!
Nova coughed out another mouthful of blood. Several thousand warriors were crushed to the ground like helpless insects, including Peak King Realm experts. Everyone groaned in pain as they struggled against the overwhelming pressure.
Earlier, Azren hadn’t even used ten percent of his Domain’s pressure. But now, he was unleashing at least eighty percent of its full might allthough he still wasn’t using his innate skill for some reason.
The weaker warriors on the battlefield were instantly crushed into bloody paste, while the survivors couldn’t even move a single finger.
’Fuck! ’Thanks to his powerful physique, Nova wasn’t in immediate danger, but if this continued, he would eventually die.
Such was the terrifying power of an Emperor Realm expert.
And Azren wasn’t just any Emperor. He was one of the strongest Demon Generals serving the most powerful Demon Lord to ever exist—Demon Lord Raze.
Now, with Azren unleashing eighty percent of his pressure while Voren supported him with another twenty percent, it was nothing less than a death sentence for the weaker warriors.
Albert and Ron could no longer contain their rage. "You bastards! Don’t you care about your own army?!"
Azren glanced down at the cultists. They were groaning in pain, while the weaker demonic beasts and low-ranking demons had already been crushed to death by the overwhelming pressure.
He turned back to Albert and burst into laughter.
"Hahaha... Care? Do you think I care about these insignificant insects? They would die if I ordered them to, and it would be their greatest honor."
Voren stepped beside Azren and spoke calmly,
"You let us pass from here, and promise that no one will stop us until we reach the Gates of the Abyss. We will simply leave afterward... it’s a win-win situation for both of us."
Ron gritted his teeth.
They were already resisting the pressure of the two Domains. If they activated their own Domains as well, the clash of four Emperor Realm Domains would kill the vast majority of both armies.
He spoke through clenched teeth,
"You fuckers... do you really think you can reach there? The moment you leave this place, you’ll have to face the Human Emperor.... the same ones who beat your Demon Lord Raze like a dog the last time."
"DON’T YOU DARE INSULT OUR LORD, YOU FILTHY DOG!"
Azren roared as he increased the pressure even further.
Every warrior cried out in agony as blood began flowing from their eyes, noses, and mouths, with only the Peak King Realm experts barely managing to endure.
"IT WAS THE COWARDLY EMPERORS OF EVERY FUCKING RACE WHO PLOTTED TOGETHER LIKE A BUNCH OF PUSSIES AGAINST OUR LORD! OTHERWISE, YOUR PATHETIC HUMAN EMPERORS WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO LAY A FINGER ON HIM!"
Azren’s eyes turned blood-red as his fury erupted.
His lord had been killed through what he believed was a cowardly conspiracy, and yet this human still had the audacity to insult him.
Even though the two Demon Generals appeared to be overpowering Albert and Ron, that wasn’t actually the case.
Azren and Voren were deliberately avoiding a direct confrontation because they couldn’t allow the heart of their lord to be put in danger.
They were using the lives of the human army as leverage. They didn’t care about the lives of their own army, and they believed humans were pathetic creatures who cared far too much about their own kind.
Because of that, Albert and Ron had no choice but to comply. But Azren and Voren couldn’t have been more wrong.
Albert was an elite member of the Twilight Order, holding the influential and powerful rank of General. He possessed the authority to sacrifice his own army if the situation demanded it.
And he was about to do exactly that.
When one lives for centuries, the heart inevitably grows colder. Human lives begin to lose their value.
Albert, who had lived for several hundred years, was exactly that kind of person. He would go to any lengths to achieve his objective.
To him, the two strongest Demon Generals standing before him were nothing more than desperate worms and it was true he knew very well, Azren would not use his full power in fear of harming his lords heart.
