Chapter 113: The Impossible Quest

Holding Rieka gently, Asia said, "Let’s go to the Frosthall Hunters Guild. We can get their help." Rieka calmed down a little. She pulled back and nodded.

....

Somewhere on the eastern side of the Aureth Kingdom...

Nova was surprised to see that his plan had worked successfully. He hadn’t been sure whether it would work or not.

He knew Albert and Ron wouldn’t help him so easily, since they had realized, just like the two Demon Generals, that he possessed demonic energy within his body and might even be some kind of demon.

That was why they had been skeptical about helping him.

So Nova decided to buy some time. He already knew he was going to die today, but at the very least, he wanted to create an opportunity.

First, he would reveal his powers and make them interested in him. Then, he would prove how valuable he could be to the human army. And it had worked.

Nova looked at Azren, who was staring at him as though he wanted nothing more than to kill him. Nova knew that with a mere flick of his finger, Azren could end his life.

He quietly widened the distance between them while Albert remained ready to defend him.

Albert spoke, "Boy, show your worth... prove that you are worth trusting!"

"Hmph! I’ll see how long you can save him," Azren said coldly before shouting, "MY MINIONS, ATTACK! KILL THEM ALL! THE WAR HAS BEGUN!"

Thousands of King Realm experts from both the human and demonic armies roared as they charged at one another.

The demonic army had only one objective—to kill the humans and either escape from this place or create a path for their lord.

The sky trembled as the King Realm experts clashed. Their auras surged while weapons collided and powerful skills shook the sky.

"Hahaha... come on, you fucker!" Number 110 laughed as he charged toward the incoming human expert.

His opponent was Leon. Leon glared at him with killing intent blazing in his eyes.

"Today I’ll show you... YOU DAMN TRAITOROUS BASTARDS!"

Watching from afar, Nova narrowed his eyes.

I’m still too weak to fight that cultist. Although I can take on lower-level King Realm experts, peak King Realm experts are still out of my league.

Nova silently cursed himself for being too weak. He failed to realize that someone who hadn’t even reached the peak of the Grandmaster Realm could already fight lower-level King Realm experts.

From every logical standpoint...That alone was an absurd feat.

While Nova was thinking of the most effective way to help the human army without letting his guard down against the powerful experts around him, who could kill him at any moment, a familiar system notification echoed in his mind.

DING!

Nova stared at the quest. He didn’t even want to say anything about it. It wasn’t like he had any other choice. The only thing he could do now was struggle to survive.

He didn’t even know what the demons’ plan was, let alone how he was supposed to destroy it.

The hidden quest wasn’t even visible, so he didn’t bother asking about it. If he could survive and return to his wives, that alone would be the greatest reward for him.

{It’s the system’s mechanism, so I had to give you the quest... and this may be your only chance to stay alive now that the human experts and powerhouses are protecting you.}

Nova didn’t say much. He simply nodded.

"Yeah."

Nova looked up and saw that the war was now in full blaze. High above the sky, the pressure from the overwhelming auras was so immense that even though the battle was taking place several kilometers above the ground, the lower-ranked soldiers below could still feel it and struggled to move.

Nova saw that the four Emperor Realm powerhouses were merely staring at one another without making a move. He somewhat understood why they weren’t clashing like the other experts.

{If they fight here without any restraint, they’ll destroy this entire land along with both armies. Even all these King Realm experts would be caught in the aftermath... such is the power of the Emperor Realm. That’s why they’re carefully measuring every move they make.}

Nova understood what Liya meant. Now he had to make sure he didn’t let the human Emperors down, or they would stop protecting him.

Fortunately, his quest aligned with their objective. However, before anything else, he needed to find out what the demons’ plan actually was.

Nova looked down at his new legion of thousands of demons and demonic beasts and shouted,

"MY DEADBORNS, DESTROY THE DEMON ARMY! MOONCLAW, LICH, AND CHIMERA, HELP THE HUMAN ARMY AND LEAD THE NEW MEMBERS OF MY LEGION!"

All the Deadborns roared, howled, shrieked, and growled as they charged toward the demonic army as they heard their Monarch’s command. Moonclaw, the Lich, and the Chimera let out deafening roars as they took the lead.

Seeing the demons they had been fighting turn into strange undead creatures, and now helping them, the lower-ranked human experts felt a newfound confidence surge within them.

Nova then turned to Enzo and Ragnar.

"You two... your names are Enzo and Ragnar, right?" Both Enzo and Ragnar stiffened upon hearing their names.

How does he know our names? Are we really that famous in the kingdom? For now, they simply replied,

"Y-Yes... those are our names."

"You two are Peak Grandmasters. Lead my army alongside my lead Deadborns. They will listen to you," Nova said with a serious expression, as though he were issuing an unquestionable command.

Although they were the second-in-command of the their Kingdom’s most influential organisation, both of them felt an instinctive dread from Nova’s aura. It was as if he would kill them the moment they disobeyed him.

They immediately nodded.

"Y-Yes, sir."

Now that Nova had finished the first part of his plan, he decided to fight personally. He looked up at the sky where the King Realm experts were clashing and, without a second thought, flew toward them.

He targeted a Blood Moon Cult member within the demonic army. All the King Realm experts he had encountered so far were Blood Moon Cult members. Nova couldn’t understand why he hadn’t seen any King Realm demons.

He didn’t have time to think about it. The cultist noticed him and charged straight toward him.

"Hahaha, you fucker....do you think you can take me on?" the cultist laughed crazily as he swung his sword at Nova.

The cultist was only around Level 1100 in the King Realm, so Nova didn’t fear him. Nova used his remaining 278 stat points and poured them all into Agility.

+778 Agility

Nova instantly felt his agility increase tremendously. Lightning surged through his legs and spread across his entire body.

His figure blurred from the cultist’s sight.

The cultist’s mad laughter abruptly stopped when he realized Nova had already appeared above him.

Nova transformed Rouve into a massive war hammer and swung it down with all his strength, as if an entire mountain had come crashing down.

BANG!!

The cultist was smashed toward the ground like a lump of flesh and crashed into the earth. His head exploded into a bloody paste.

The cultist was dead.

Ding!

Nova felt a wave of nostalgia as the familiar notifications echoed one after another. However, what surprised him even more was his own strength. He had killed a King Realm expert with a single blow.

He hadn’t realized his strength had grown to such an extent.

{Your stats are many times higher than your current level, and your physique has long surpassed that of an ordinary Grandmaster.}

The surrounding King Realm experts witnessed Nova kill one of their own so effortlessly and immediately realized that this crazy kid was not someone to be underestimated.

"But I killed him instantly... I couldn’t see his memories. I need to leave them half-dead if I want to extract their memories," Nova muttered as he searched for his next target.

He also had to remain vigilant. For now, he intended to avoid anyone above Level 1500, as he wasn’t sure whether he could defeat them.
