Chapter 144: Current Strongest Demon Lord
As she reviewed his story once more, she noticed a few points that still felt questionable. After a moment of silence, she decided to ask him about them directly
"What type of stone was that?" Nyxara asked. "I know teleportation stones exist, but one capable of transporting someone between worlds is extremely valuable.
The human continent and the Abyss exist in different realms. It’s hard to believe an ordinary spy would possess something like that. Which Demon Lord did your foster mother work for?"
Nova shook his head.
"I don’t know. She never told me which Demon Lord she served,I already told you everything I know."
It was easy for him to simply deny anything that didn’t fit the story. That was precisely why he had constructed it this way.
Nyxara stared at him for a moment. Since he claimed to know nothing more, there was little she could do about it for now. She moved on to her next question.
"You said your bloodline surpasses even that of the royal demons of the Abyss, including mine.
You also claimed you don’t know your parents because they abandoned you. Then how exactly did you learn to use bloodline suppression?"
A cold glint flashed through her crimson eyes as she asked. Nova kept his expression calm, careful not to give her any reason for further suspicion.
"At first I didn’t know anything about it. But when my foster mother realized the purity of my bloodline, she told me a few things that demons of royal bloodlines are capable of. After that, I tried those things on demonic beasts and gradually learned how to use it."
He paused briefly before adding,
"I know it’s hard to believe, but it came to me very easily. My bloodline is different from the ordinary royal ones."
Nova’s answers were not exactly what Nyxara had expected, but she could not detect any lies in them. That left her with little choice but to believe him — at least for now.
Learning that he was not from the Abyss, and more importantly that he did not belong to any of the royal demon clans she despised, brought her a small sense of relief. The man who had done those things to her was not connected to the people she hated.
Even so, the situation itself remained a serious problem. She still had to decide what to do about it.
She was already in a difficult position. Even after becoming a Sovereign, she would not be able to escape her fate forever. Her hateful father would make sure of that.
There were times when she had secretly wished that Demon Lord Raze had succeeded in killing him.
And now this new complication stood right in front of her.
When her eyes fell on the handsome face of the man before her, fragments of the intense experience from the past three days resurfaced in her mind — the way she had moaned without restraint. A faint redness spread across her smooth, creamy skin.
Her deadline was approaching. If she delayed any longer, her father would personally come down to the Fourth Level and forcibly take her away. At that point, she would no longer be able to resist. Her mind raced as she searched for a possible solution.
Meanwhile, Nova watched her carefully and thought to himself, Is she still planning to kill me?
{ I don’t think so, } Liya replied. { But from the way she’s staring at you, it looks like you might be about to face a fate even worse than death. You’ve managed to avoid dying once again... but I advise you to choose your next steps very carefully. }
{ Oh, wait. Sorry. It’s not like you actually have any real choices here anyway. }
Nova felt a strong urge to spank Liya’s ass for being so cheeky at a time like this. On one hand, he felt a sense of relief that Nyxara might not kill him. On the other hand, a new anxiety began to grow.
Even if she spared him... would she actually let him leave? And if she did, would she help him escape the Fourth Level?
After several minutes of silence, Nyxara finally finished thinking. Nova didn’t dare say a single word, afraid of making the situation any worse. Then she looked him straight in the eyes and spoke again.
"Tell me. Why didn’t you run earlier when you saw me fighting that demonic beast? You’re the first King Realm idiot I’ve ever seen who just stood there and watched a battle between Sovereigns."
She paused briefly, her gaze sharpening.
"Although I’m a little impressed you weren’t killed by the residual pressure... you must have some unique physique on top of that unique bloodline of yours, don’t you?"
Nova had no real choice but to answer truthfully this time. He could have lied again, but this was also the opening he had been waiting for.
"I... I was hoping you would help me get out of the Fourth Level. You clearly have a very high comprehension of Space affinity."
Nyxara raised an eyebrow at his answer.
"Oh? And why exactly would you assume that a Sovereign like me would agree to help a mere King Realm ant like you?"
Nova met her gaze and answered carefully.
"Because we are both of royal bloodline. I assumed you wouldn’t just leave a fellow royal to wander around this dead land and die if he asked for your help."
Nyxara let out a cold, quiet scoff.
"Quite presumptuous of you. Whatever image you have of demon royals in your little mind, you should discard it completely. The reality is very different."
Her crimson eyes turned colder.
"Although... you are not entirely wrong. I still wouldn’t have helped you. I despise every demon clan in the Abyss — including my own. They are nothing but a bunch of greedy ruthless pigs."
As she spoke those words, a surge of killing intent automatically leaked from her body. Nova instinctively took a step back.
Nyxara met his gaze again and closed the distance between them. This time, Nova forced himself not to retreat — doing so might only anger her further.
She stepped very close, tilting her head up to look at him. Even standing straight, the top of her head only reached his neck due to the difference in their heights.
Then she lifted her elegant black slim sword and placed the cold blade beneath his chin.
Nova’s body stiffened completely. He raised his head slightly and held perfectly still, knowing that any sudden movement could cause the blade to pierce him.
Her voice came out in a chilly tone.
"I’ve heard your story. I’ve decided I won’t kill you. You possess a unique bloodline, and you’ve managed to hide it quite effectively — making it appear as if you only have an ordinary one. That makes you useful to me."
Despite the fear gripping him, Nova managed to ask,
"W-What do you mean?"
Nyxara’s serious expression suddenly shifted into a faint grin.
"You wanted my help to leave this place. But then you defiled me and made me impure. Now... you have to take responsibility."
Shit.
The curse echoed loudly in Nova’s mind.
{ Congratulations~ } Liya’s teasing voice rang out, which he immediately chose to ignore.
Nyxara pulled her sword back and turned around. Nova finally released the breath he had been holding and stared at her tempting back. Even so, he forced himself not to focus on her figure.
Right now, understanding exactly what she meant by "taking responsibility" was far more important.
Nyxara turned around again and asked,
"Do you know who the current strongest Demon Lord is?"
Nova shook his head. He knew almost nothing about the Demon Lords. He had only recently encountered Demon Generals — how could he possibly know who stood at the top?
Nyxara let out a soft sigh and shook her head."Sheesh... You claim to be a demon, yet you don’t even know something this basic."
Nova’s body stiffened slightly at her words. She was right. Since he claimed to be a demon, he should have at least known the basics of the demon hierarchy and the names of the Abyss’s top dogs.
However, Nyxara let it slide. After all, Nova had spent his entire life on the human continent, so his lack of knowledge wasn’t that surprising—especially since he had made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with the Abyss.
"Fine. I’ll enlighten you," she continued. "The current strongest Demon Lord is Kharos Zarok."
Nova listened carefully. He had never heard the name before — most likely because he had lived in secluded place. His parents might have known of him, but he had never asked. Then his attention locked onto the surname.
Zarok...
Wait. Don’t tell me...
"And my name is Nyxara Zarok," she said. "He is my biological father." The moment she spoke the word "father," her expression turned clearly unpleasant.
Nova was too shocked to say anything.
He had just realized he had fucked the daughter of the strongest Demon Lord in the entire Abyss.
Liya’s voice immediately rang out in his mind, full of amusement.
{ Congratulations again~ }
