Chapter 700 - 408: Campus Supernatural Incident (Part 2)
Blue Star: Alright, the kid at home has something important to discuss with me, I’ll come back to the chat later.
So amidst the gritting teeth of many worlds, He decisively logged off and asked, "What’s the matter?"
"Someone sent me a message..." Xue Dili took a deep breath and recited the words of the Tenth Apostle completely, only omitting the identity of the Tenth Apostle.
In an instant, Earth Consciousness fell silent and stared intently at Xue Dili, asking, "Where did you get this message?"
"Subspace."
"Have you ever met her in person?"
"No..."
Xue Dili was telling the truth; he indeed hadn’t met Number 10. In the Mist Council, as long as you don’t emit your aura, the other party can’t perceive anything, just like online friends communicating through the internet.
"I see." Earth Consciousness replied directly, "Stay out of this matter. Leave it to me. You don’t need to get involved with those relics. It’s a planet I use as a prison; you don’t need to worry about what’s happening on it."
"Oh..." Xue Dili wasn’t someone with an overly curious nature, but this matter might really have a significant connection to him. He still asked, "Mom, just one last question, when did this happen?"
Earth Consciousness paused for a moment before answering, "3100 years ago, Noah’s Ark took them away."
Xue Dili: "..."
...
At this time, he was lying in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
The Tenth Apostle, most likely someone from the Divine Era, could it be Athena?
Impossible...
The Tenth Apostle’s authority is love, and at the very least, she has already eaten three fruits. Moreover, from the limited interactions with her, her personality is entirely different from Athena.
Ancient Greeks were chaotic and mad; their personalities weren’t as stable as the Tenth Apostle’s. Especially in the conversation with the Tenth Apostle, she was aware of being an Earth person, but seemed unfamiliar with Xue Dili himself.
Especially with her wording of "my clan"...
In this case, it couldn’t be an acquaintance from any era. Athena would definitely not say that because she wishes to kill all her siblings and relatives.
"Do you have some time recently?" Mom’s voice came through.
"I do." Xue Dili replied.
"Then why don’t you take a trip to Greece?"
Xue Dili: "?"
Why on earth go to Greece?
Not even the Parallel World, but rather the Greece of the Main World. Xue Dili is a bit hesitant to go there, purely because Zeus’s antics left a psychological shadow on him.
"You’ll know when you get there." Earth Consciousness said directly.
"Well... alright then..." Xue Dili didn’t dwell on it.
It’s just a trip to Greece, probably related to the message from the Tenth Apostle. Xue Dili thought about it; now he could easily teleport to Greece if he just finds the right coordinates in the background.
As for what Mom said about knowing what to do once he gets there, although he wasn’t fond of enigmatic behavior, he could roughly guess what it was, probably another mess left by the gods of the Divine Era.
Most likely, it was one of those pits dug by the gods of the Divine Era, and now Xue Dili is going to deal with it.
Thinking of this, Xue Dili said, "I’ll take a day off today and go to Greece tomorrow; it’s Saturday tomorrow after all."
"Suit yourself..." Earth Consciousness didn’t bother with Xue Dili anymore; perhaps He started lurking in the group chat again.
Xue Dili took a look; the group chat had already been updated. He wasn’t concerned with the 99+ messages, and even if he wanted to scroll back, it would take ages; he had no idea World Consciousness could chat for so long and about so many things.
He used to think World Consciousness had little emotion, akin to the early symptoms of being affected by the Void, but now it seems they have their emotions; this complexity is something Xue Dili can’t comprehend.
Just like in mythology, even Ye Gezi could get angry enough to set fires or cause floods.
Xue Dili decided not to dwell on it any longer.
After sleeping again, the next morning, Xue Dili quietly got up.
The house was very quiet today; there was no noisy Little Dragon Lady, and no aroma from the kitchen. Xue Dili realized they were probably still playing at the Silver National Homestay.
Xue Dili thought for a moment and decided that today he’d go to school and find some time to have some fun later.
Riding his bike to school, he walked silently to the medical department building, only to find it eerily quiet.
Something’s off, very off...
It’s Friday today; Xue Dili had memorized Friday’s schedule clearly: basic moral cultivation and first-aid in the morning, and physical training and clinical medicine in the afternoon.
And now, it’s almost 8 o’clock, yet the entire medical department was deserted...
Something’s off...
Xue Dili checked each classroom, and there was no one in sight, which made him even more uneasy.
"Xue Dili?" a familiar voice suddenly said.
It was the counselor, holding a stack of test papers and wondering, "Are you here for self-study?"
Xue Dili: "?"
Seeing Xue Dili’s clear yet clueless eyes, she seemed to recall something and said, "You might have been busy with filming and missed the notice; today is a holiday because there’s a minor issue with the school’s facilities. There will be make-up classes arranged over the weekend later."
Xue Dili: "?"
Oh wow, so it was a holiday today?
He had foolishly come all the way to school for nothing; no wonder it was so empty around here.
Xue Dili asked confusedly, "What happened?"
Surely no one died, right?
"Nothing, nothing..." The counselor had a nonchalant look, which only raised more suspicions.
Xue Dili had no intention of making things difficult for her, so he quickly left.
He had his own intelligence network at school, which was the gatekeepers. Many of these guards knew Xue Dili from when he was a child; the counselor could keep secrets, but the guards might not.
Soon, Xue Dili arrived at the school gate, bought a pack of sunflower seeds and a pack of Huangshan cigarettes, offered one to Uncle Li, the guard eating breakfast, and lit it for him before asking.
"I just got back from filming and had no idea school was off today." Xue Dili didn’t smoke; he just held a handful of sunflower seeds, staring wistfully at the sky from the guardhouse.
"I thought you came to study in the library; didn’t expect you knew nothing?" Uncle Li took a heavy puff of the cigarette, "Nowadays, Huangshan doesn’t taste as good; we’ve switched to Yellow Crane Tower."
Xue Dili: "..."
He could only smile and offer another cigarette, asking, "Uncle Li, what’s going on at school? What happened?"
Uncle Li chuckled, leaned closer, and said, "Yesterday, they fished a person out of the school’s reservoir!"
Xue Dili: "..."
Uncle Li laughed and said in an even more peculiar tone, "No one expected the person would be in the reservoir for how long, and that pond supplies water to most of the students... Do you know the strangest thing?"
"What is it?" Xue Dili immediately played along.
"The school conducted a thorough check yesterday, and not a single person was missing! Not a soul was unaccounted for, yet there was an extra body in the reservoir. Isn’t that odd?"
"Did the police find out who it was?" Xue Dili’s curiosity grew. Initially, he thought it might have been a murder, as murders on campus weren’t uncommon, especially when it was exam preparation time; students under pressure might act out.
"That’s the strangest part; the body retrieved had no records at the station. No recent missing persons reports, no idea where they came from – it’s as if they appeared out of thin air at school." Uncle Li leaned even closer and whispered, "And there’s something even spookier!"
"Even spookier?" Xue Dili probed.
The reservoir’s surveillance wasn’t broken, and the police checked three months of footage overnight; no one entered and failed to come out. That body literally seemed to appear out of nowhere in the reservoir. Isn’t it eerie? Even the old man principal, who can attend posh United Nations meetings, is considering calling a monk over.
Uncle Li chuckled as he spoke.
They were all retired military, naturally skeptical of superstitions, but it seemed the principal had been genuinely frightened.
Xue Dili’s curiosity was piqued too. A body appearing out of nowhere? He really wanted to take a good look.
