Question marks slowly popped up on everyone’s faces.

They still hadn’t figured out how the priest and Divine Art were supposed to be connected to that little boy.

But by now they had already arrived at the small village on Resentful Spirit Island. Xue Dili looked around—rather than a village, this place looked more like a manorial Ancient Castle, classical decorations and a cluster of buildings rising around the castle itself.

Xue Dili opened his Divine Purification Demon Eye again, and still didn’t see anything concrete—just a lot of residual traces left behind by Demons.

Those Demons’ auras flared bright in the Divine Purification Demon Eye’s vision, and Xue Dili immediately nodded.

"Sure enough, our earlier guess wasn’t wrong." Xue Dili turned to ask the Mimic Venerable King.

But right now the Mimic Venerable King seemed busy "unboxing" the Seventh Apostle and had no time to pay him any attention.

Xue Dili didn’t press the issue and just said, "Let’s go."

He didn’t see the batch of old folks who had first come ashore. After a glance around, Master Xue Dili simply walked into the Ancient Castle.

Deep-purple vines crawled all over the castle walls, those tentacle-like plants writhing faintly under the moonlight. The iron fence had long rusted into jagged, fang-like shapes, and the gargoyle statues on either side of the porch had eye sockets that flickered with a ghostly glow.

And here, there was not the slightest sign of human activity.

"I can already guess the rest of the plot. We’re definitely going to split up to rest, then tonight there’ll be a scream, and afterward someone’s corpse will show up in front of us in some horribly miserable state..." Xue Dili looked at the tower rising in the center of the castle, and at this point he’d pretty much mapped out the upcoming scenario in his head.

The middle-aged gentleman seemed to be thinking about something and said, "Father, how much Magic Power do you have left?"

"That Technique from just now? I can use it as a flashlight for several days and nights." Xue Dili replied.

He was in fact deliberately lowballing it, so he wouldn’t scare these natives to death with an even more ridiculous number.

The three of them once again stared at Xue Dili in shock. None of them dared guess what Bishop Level of existence he might be.

Xue Dili only wanted to say they were being too conservative. Even within the Church Court, his rank belonged to the "Angel" tier.

"Then why don’t we just find a place and stay together? As this priest has said, splitting up to rest will put us in danger. We still have no idea what kind of monsters are waiting for us on this island..." The middle-aged Baron seemed quite worried. Maybe he’d been spooked by those veteran explorers’ stories, or maybe just by this whole world.

The noble lady quickly nodded as well, while only the Half-Elf said, "Fine, but stay away from me. I don’t know if you, a Fairy-like priest, have already pulled some dirty trick..."

She glared at Xue Dili, the face under her hood full of undisguised dislike.

Xue Dili, on the other hand, was completely confused. When had he ever offended this Half-Elf?

And why use "Fairy" as an adjective for him?

Xue Dili considered his clothes and looks perfectly normal: messy hair, hoodie, jeans—a standard college-boy outfit, the kind that, thrown into a crowd, would at least match one-tenth of the people there.

Besides, his appearance hadn’t really changed much; he looked the same as he had in high school, just with a few weird debuffs tacked on. Who are you calling a Fairy, huh?

Could it be because she saw him shiver a bit when he found out she was a Half-Elf? And speaking of which, the reason he was startled by the Half-Elf identity was because the Half-Elves he’d met before...

Aside from Fafnir, the others were all insanely outrageous... the kind that had left Xue Dili with a bit of psychological trauma—trauma area second only to Zeus.

He switched over to the system interface again and checked: favorability 88. That had actually gone up, hadn’t it? Could it be that his mom’s system was a dud that was now starting to show obvious bugs?

Xue Dili gave the system a couple taps with his soul and, seeing that the numbers didn’t change at all, decided to ignore it.

"Then I think it’d be best if you stayed as far away from me as possible, Miss Half-Elf." Xue Dili said flatly.

"Tch..." The Half-Elf hid herself under her hood again, then went to find a place she could lean against.

The middle-aged Baron and the noble lady, meanwhile, seemed to gradually drift closer to each other—maybe because they were both from the noble camp and couldn’t blend with Xue Dili the "clergy" or the Half-Elf from the lower ranks.

However, Xue Dili had already started gathering information here. The first thing that caught his eye was a square stone stele.

Both the Half-Elf and the middle-aged Baron had apparently noticed the writing on the stele as well, but they couldn’t read it. After a quick glance, they moved on.

When they saw Xue Dili walk over to take a closer look, the middle-aged Baron said nothing, but the Half-Elf complained, "The writing on it doesn’t belong to any language I know. It even looks like a phonographic script instead of pictographs. I can’t even begin to guess it."

The Half-Elf’s comment only made Xue Dili more interested. He asked in return, "You know language analysis? You can even tell the difference between phonographic and pictographic writing?"

At first this Half-Elf had looked every bit the bottom-feeder: grimy hood, close-fitting Leather Armor, and that hissy, catlike, self-defensive attitude—enough to give anyone a low first impression, like she was some wretch scraping by in a slum or on a mountainside.

But now it seemed she at least had some education.
