Chapter 79: The Second Wife
A figure was flying in the sky. The view grew clearer as it descended.
Lucien froze.
A familiar face entered his view. A smile that was both warm and dark.
"Darling!"
Lucien’s longsword almost slipped from his grip. His body went stiff. His mind raced in panic.
No. No way. What is she doing here?
The figure landed gracefully on the forest floor, her feet touching the ground without a sound. She was small, petite, like a child in size. Her silver-white hair cascaded down her back, flowing like moonlight, shimmering faintly as if alive. Large crimson eyes gleamed with an ancient, otherworldly light, holding centuries of secrets behind them.
Her skin was pale as snow, smooth and flawless. She wore a black and crimson dress, frilled and Victorian in style, with a high collar and intricate lace. A small, blood-red ribbon was tied neatly in her silver-white hair.
She smiled, and her fangs glistened.
"Miss me, darling?"
Lucien’s grip on his longsword tightened. His heart pounded. He hadn’t seen her in forever. He hadn’t expected to see her here. In this place. At this time.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice strained.
She tilted her head, her crimson eyes glinting. "Is that any way to greet your dear wife?"
Lucien’s jaw dropped. His mind short-circuited.
Wife? What wife? Since when?!
There was no way he was going to marry her.
Before he could form a response, a familiar notification rang in his mind.
Ding!
[Detecting a second Yandere Wife candidate.]
[Analysis: Subject is a past-life bond, just like Seraphina Drax. She is an Ancestral Vampire with deep obsessive tendencies toward Host. Emotional reading indicates intense devotion, possessiveness, and a willingness to eliminate any threats to Host, including the current first wife, Seraphina Drax.]
[Warning: Conflict between Yandere Wife candidates may result in catastrophic collateral damage.]
[Would Host like to accept this second Yandere Wife?]
[Y/N]
Lucien stared at the notification. He read it again. Then a third time.
He already knew her. She was from his past life, just like Seraphina. He had forgotten, no, he had tried to forget. The memories were buried deep, but now they came rushing back.
Her name. Her face. Her obsessive smile.
He remembered.
She had been there. In his past life. She had been just as obsessed with him as Seraphina was. Maybe more.
And now she was here.
He looked at the silver-haired girl standing before him. She tilted her head, her smile widening.
"I can see you remember, darling," she said softly. "It’s been so long. I’ve missed you."
Lucien swallowed hard. He looked back at the notification.
[Accept? Y/N]
Hell no. Lucien didn’t even think of accepting. At that instant, he activated the Spatial Anchor. His figure disappeared into the space.
The loli silver-haired vampire was surprised. She showed her fangs.
Ryker, who was trying to hold his injured body, heard the entire conversation between the vampire and Lucien. He never expected that Lucien would have a wife, and someone this young.
Does he swing that way?
While Ryker was contemplating this, he saw Lucien disappear into space.
Did someone he just hold up to, to learn from, just run? Did he just run from this loli vampire?
If not for the fact that he was injured, he would have rubbed his eyes to check if he had seen wrong.
He looked at the loli, trying to see what was about her. But she gave no sense of danger. No aura. No pressure. Nothing. Just a small girl in a frilly dress.
She even felt excited by Lucien’s disappearance, as if she remembered something.
"Is this the game of cat and mouse?" she said, her voice dripping with delight. "Awww, my favorite game. As expected of darling, he knows me best."
Immediately she said this, her figure disappeared, leaving Ryker hanging, alone in the wild.
---
Lucien returned to where he had fought the Stoneclaw Golem. His figure reappeared in the rocky terrain.
He had used Void Warp to return here, an anchor point he had set earlier.
As he saw he was safe, his breath was erratic. His hands trembled. His heart pounded like a war drum in his chest. Sweat dripped down his face.
Safe. I’m safe. She can’t find me here. She can’t—
Memories started to resurface. Memories that felt like hell.
Her name was Lilith. And one word Lucien had to use to describe her was...
Psychopath.
From that word alone, one could know how hellish his life was when a psychopath became obsessed with him. And worst of all, in his past life, she was a killer. A killer who wore the face of an innocent child.
He remembered her smile. Her laugh. The way she would hunt her prey, slowly, playfully, like a cat toying with a mouse.
And he had been her favorite mouse.
He held his head. His breathing quickened. His vision blurred.
"Tag."
He heard a familiar voice. He felt someone touch him from behind.
"Haha, Darling, I caught you. You can’t escape me."
Lucien’s entire being froze.
His blood turned cold. His body locked up. Every muscle in his body screamed to move, to run, to fight, but he couldn’t. He was frozen and paralyzed.
Her voice echoed in his ears. That voice. That playful, innocent, terrifying voice.
The world around him seemed to spin. His vision blurred as the memories flooded back, every moment of fear, of helplessness, of being hunted.
Slowly, he turned his head.
She stood behind him. The silver-haired loli in her frilly black and crimson dress. Her crimson eyes gleamed with adoration. Her smile was wide, innocent, and utterly terrifying.
"Found you, darling," she said softly. "Did you really think you could hide from me?"
Lucien’s legs gave out. He collapsed to his knees. His breath came in ragged gasps. His hands shook uncontrollably.
He could feel the tears welling up in his eyes. They were hot, burning, helpless tears. He tried to stop them, but they came anyway. His face contorted as a choked sob escaped his lips.
He was breaking. Falling apart.
Lilith tilted her head, her smile fading. Concern flickered in her crimson eyes. She moved closer.
"Darling? Why are you crying?" she asked, her voice soft. "I’m here now. I’m not going to hurt you. I love you. I’ve always loved you."
She reached out, her small hand brushing against his cheek.
Lucien flinched. His body trembled. Tears streamed down his face.
Why? Why is this happening? Why now? Why here?
He had clearly been traumatized by this vampire right here in his past life, which was affecting him and resurfacing the fears he once felt before.
But through the haze of fear, a single thought broke through. Move. I have to move. I can’t stay here.
His hand shot up. His body flared with Originat.
Void Warp.
The space around him twisted. His figure vanished from the rocky terrain.
Lucien reappeared in a different part of the desolate land. The terrain had shifted, dry plains stretching endlessly under the scorching sun. He gasped for air, his chest heaving.
She followed? Did she follow?
He stood still as he scanned his surroundings for her figure.
There was nothing. Just wind and dust.
He let out a shaky breath. His legs threatened to give out.
Then—
"Found you, darling!"
His blood froze as he heard her familiar voice.
He turned. Lilith was standing a few meters away, hands clasped behind her back, swaying gently like a child waiting for a game to continue.
"Where are you going?" she asked, tilting her head.
Lucien’s heart nearly stopped at the sight of her figure.
Void Warp.
He vanished again.
This time, he appeared in a dense forest. Thick canopy overhead. Shadows everywhere. He pressed himself against a tree, his breathing ragged.
Safe. I’m safe. She can’t—
He closed his eyes thinking in relief until he heard her familiar voice.
"I love hide and seek, darling!"
He opened his eyes.
She was there. Standing on a low branch of the tree above him, looking down with a bright smile.
"We used to play this all the time," she said, hopping down gracefully. "You could never hide from me before. Why would now be different?"
Lucien didn’t answer. He didn’t have the strength to. He activated Void Warp again.
The fourth time, he appeared near a river. The water rushed past him, cold and noisy.
He stood there, panting.
She’s going to find me again.
And he was right.
The crunch of small shoes against pebbles. She was already there. Standing behind him, her head tilted.
"Tired already, darling?" she asked, her voice soft. "That was only four times. You used to run much longer."
Lucien’s shoulders slumped. His Originat was still full, it would always be full, but his spirit was empty. He had nowhere to go. She would always find him.
He gave up.
His hands fell to his sides. He slowly turned to face her. His eyes were red. His face was streaked with tears as his body shook.
"What do you want from me?" he asked, his voice cracking. "Please. Just tell me. What do you want?"
