Chapter 431 (2): The Demon God Returns to a Hell that Is Loyal to Him

“Śār, you can’t indulge her further!”

“How about I indulge you the way I indulge her?”

“Um...”

“What are you thinking? Sit down,” Wayne snapped. “I told you not to bring up unrelated topics, but you wouldn’t stop doing it. You’re always at the scene of the crime.”

Hestia felt wronged, but since she couldn’t get angry at Wayne, she glared at the shameless secretary instead.

Scowling, Hesione touched up her lipstick and grabbed Wayne’s head for a kiss.

That elicited two cries. One echoed in Hesione’s head, and another came out of Hestia’s mouth.

Wayne was having the time of his life. He swore to gather Hestia and Hesione in one room more often. Pursing his lips, he said, “That was indeed Pride’s reincarnation altar. I had a clear look...”

“Wait!” Hesione cut in. Smacking Wayne before saying seriously, “Tell me, you haven’t tried the altar, have you?”

“...”

“Speak!”

Hesione was losing her mind. It was obvious that the Lord of Pride had descended to the human world for the Anointed One. If Wayne had used the reincarnation altar, Hell would have secured the Anointed One.

The demon god had returned to a Hell that was loyal to him!

The mere thought drove Hesione to the brink of a mental breakdown.

“I haven’t used it.”

“Swear it.”

“Swear by what?” Wayne raised an eyebrow. “The Heavenly Father? You know me. With the precedent set, I would continue to swear by Him, which wouldn’t be a problem for me, but you’ll pay for it with your body.”

“...”

Hesione couldn’t argue with that. He was right. The Anointed One shouldn’t be swearing by the Heavenly Father’s name, given his inclination to speak nonsense. Any of the goddesses... would be even worse! Whether the Anointed One was a pathological liar or not, he was someone who shouldn’t be deferential to the goddesses.

No matter how Hesione thought, she didn’t dare make Wayne swear by anyone’s name. “Your safety concerns the entire Heaven,” she said slowly. “Please tell me if you’ve used the altar!”

“I haven’t. I’ve only studied the Seven Deadly Sins on it.”

Wayne shook his head. It’d be best not to bring up Bat Demon, or Hesione really would have a mental breakdown.

He had been lying when he said that he was the Anointed One—scratch that, he hadn’t even claimed to be the Anointed One, but coincidences led to Hesione’s misunderstanding. Wayne didn’t know where the real Anointed One was, but he knew he wasn’t him.

Hesione stared at him intensely, attempting to piece together the truth from the minute changes in his expressions. Unfortunately, the bastard had encountered and solved so many difficult problems that he could now lie to a woman without batting an eye. She couldn’t see anything.

Anxiety gnawed at her. She had to get an answer out of him tonight. She would do whatever he wanted her to do as long as he told her the truth. Compared to the fate of Heaven, the Anointed One’s purity mattered little. Besides, he had long lost his purity. She had just been lying to herself.

Hestia cocked her head at the pair of degen—at the degenerate woman. It was true that a Śār’s safety concerned Heaven, but there seemed to be more to it. Was she overthinking?

“Alright, since you’ve apologized so sincerely, I’ll forgive your interruption. Only this once, though. There won’t be a next—”

“Wait!” Hestia interrupted, looking at Wayne.

“...” x2

When Wayne and Hesione turned to her with exasperation, Hestia lowered her head with a blush, saying quietly, “I’ve prepared lipstick, and I’ll apologize sincerely... Would you let me apologize?”

No, a subordinate shouldn’t kiss their boss! x2

Wayne ignored her, and Hesione didn’t want to waste any time on her. “Boss, where’s Pride’s altar? I would like to take a look.”

It made sense for a human to reincarnate into a demon and gain entrance to Hell, thus becoming an extraordinary being. The same couldn’t be said about a demon reincarnating into a human. Because of Heaven’s seal, the demon would lose his bloodline and Authority, their connection to Hell severed after becoming a real human.

In that case, even a great demon lord would become a weakling due to the loss of power, and it would be incredibly difficult for them to regain power in the human world.

Hesione knew how powerful the demon lord who had caught her off guard was. The demon lord didn’t seem like a reincarnation, but a demon who had descended through normal means. Moreover, Hestia was right that reincarnation was Heaven’s privilege. There was more to it than the seal Heaven had placed on Hell.

Hestia wasn’t privy to the secret, but Hesione was. Demons truly didn’t have the privilege, not even the Lord of Pride, the strongest demon lord.

“The altar was destroyed. I wouldn’t have left something as dangerous as that intact.” Wayne was certain of it. The altar had exploded, for sure.

“Śār, if Pride is the demon lord hiding in Londan, his target has to be the Anointed One,” Hestia said. “We should contact Śār Auriel at once and banish Pride to Hell as soon as possible.”

Hesione’s heart sank. “Boss, I’ll contact Auriel. You should stay out of Londan in the meantime.”

Wayne shrugged. “That won’t do. The entire world is at war, all except for Londan. Bullets do not discriminate between friends and foes. It’ll be too dangerous!”

“You know what I mean, Boss!” Hesione bit out.

“I don’t. I’ll only know if you tell me.”

“Fine. I’ll say it now.” Hesione glanced at Hestia. If she continued to hide the truth, the Anointed One would be taking on a huge risk. She had to protect Wayne. Her illusory reputation as the embodiment of purity was nothing compared to the safety of Heaven and the Anointed One!

“You’re not the Great—hmph...”

Wayne muffled her before she could finish, resigned. “You’re actually going to say it? The sunk cost is so great that even I, a capitalist, don’t dare bring up the topic. Who gave you the courage to do it?”

He then ordered her to never talk about it again.

With a stiff expression, Hesione pushed back, “Forgive me for not being able to follow the order. All of Heaven is concerned. I’ll seek out Auriel and explain everything.”

“You’re overthinking. I’m not what you think I am.”

“You are!”

“...”

Hestia blinked in confusion. What the heaven were they talking about? Would they stop talking in riddles?

“I’ll seek out Auriel. The fact that the Lord of Pride is involved is enough to make him put aside his quest for power. You two will go with me.” Wayne frowned. “There are also the other two reincarnated angels. Things are messy enough as it is. Let’s hope that there isn’t another Śār between them.”

“Boss, I—”

“I’ve made up my mind. Dealing with the demon takes precedence. If the demon who sealed me is Pride, the head of the Seven Demon Lords, he couldn’t have gone so far as to descend to the human world just to enjoy life.” Wayne glanced at Hesione. “Forget about me. Even the Anointed One would choose to face the demon lord, wouldn’t he?”

Hesione could only nod.

“Let’s get going. Ask around the cathedral and find out if any angels have been sighted during the past two days. If so, contact Auriel and tell him that Hesione wants to talk.”

Wayne patted Hesione on the backside. Once she stood up, he picked up the phone on the table. “I have to visit the Lando Estate. The royal family has found new support. I have to talk to my father so that he won’t be caught off guard, finding himself surrounded by angels when he goes on a date with the Queen.”

Auston wasn’t home, though, nor was Megan. They would either be at the Ministry of Magic’s headquarters or Buckingham Palace.

Wayne waited five minutes before the phone rang. At the ministry’s headquarters, Auston had received a call from home. He asked Wayne what important matter he wanted to talk about.

“It’s not something to discuss via phone. Go home. I need to tell you about something tricky.”

Wayne hung up and urged the two ladies to get into his car.

He swung by Saint Paul Cathedral, but didn’t find reincarnated angels settling down there. The car resumed its trip to the Lando Estate. It passed by another black luxury car on the road.

In the backseat, Forest had a woman on each arm. The Lord of Pride looked around before lowering his head in contemplation.

“All seven reincarnated angels have come to Londan...”

“Have I been made?!”

“That must be why. Gerar sensed my energy when I sealed Hesione...”

“Damn it. I should’ve kept a low profile, but my pride gets the better of me. When am I going to get rid of the bad habit...?”

Forest sighed. He had a grand time in the human world, selling more lottery tickets when he was happy and lowering the price to sell more cigarettes when he was unhappy. When he was bored, there was also no shortage of entertainment to be had. He didn’t want to be banished to Hell.

“It’s fine. I’m human now. I’m also a higher-tier angel with Mikhael’s blood. They can’t find me...”

“Yes, they won’t!”

Forest murmured to himself, growing confident. His curiosity, though, was piqued. Hesione and Gerar, two of the Seven Sacred Virtues, were among the reincarnated angels. He alone wouldn’t have warranted their presence. Moreover, though he hadn’t gotten a close look, he could tell that the three reincarnated angels staying at Buckingham Palace weren’t nobodies, either. One of them seemed to be another old friend.

Only the angels embodying the Seven Sacred Virtues would be considered old friends by the Seven Deadly Sins.

“Strange, three of the seven have descended...”

“That’s ominous!”

“What is Heaven doing? Are they going to wage another war of faiths?”

“Those bastards. What’s wrong with the human world now? They only ever think about bringing destruction. Even a demon like me can’t stand it.”

Forest scoffed, agonizing over whether he should take a peek at the meeting held by the reincarnated angels. He risked exposing himself and losing his happy life. He would never make a losing bargain like that. Not looking into the meeting wasn’t an option, though. His curiosity had to be sated.

After some consideration, he decided to have someone take a look for him. There was no shortage of degenerates among the Tulip Families and the members of the Ministry of Magic. It wouldn’t be unreasonable for another demon to appear, right?

“It’s perfectly reasonable. Not strange at all.”

Forest closed his eyes, going through his imaginary shelf. “Who to pick? Barney is trash. He doesn’t even know magic...”

“Rupert bought me food earlier. He failed to become the Prime Minister and suffered terribly at the hands of his political rivals. It’ll be inappropriate to kick a dog while he’s down...”

“Bedfrith would be a good choice. He’s a legendary mage with enough power. After his shipyard went to the Lando family, he pivoted and encroached on my business...”

“Bah, the disrespect. You aren’t even a demon, and you’re selling tobacco like I am?”

Forest opened his eyes. “I choose you, Bedfrith Bedford. Go to Buckingham Palace and confirm who that old friend of mine is.”
