Chapter 726: NASM - 726
"Oh right! That’s what I’d forgotten. I was so excited last night that I couldn’t fall asleep for ages. But my arm is completely numb now, I really need to pull it out!" Hiroshi said, his face turning red as he slowly pulled his arm away.
He moved with extreme caution the whole time, terrified of waking Harumiko up – that would have made things so awkward.
"Finally! I can feel my arm again, though it’s still pretty numb, looks like it’ll take a while to get back to normal. But you know what? My arm smells really nice, it’s all the fragrance from Harumiko’s hair!" Hiroshi said with a smile, looking at his arm once he’d pulled it free.
Just then, Harumiko shifted slightly in her sleep, turned over, and carried on resting – it seemed she hadn’t woken up at all. She must have slept really well, which meant they’d both been completely worn out from everything they’d done the day before.
"Please don’t wake up, please don’t wake up – this would be so embarrassing if you did! Oh no..." Hiroshi whispered softly, his face turning red again as he caught sight of something.
After saying that, he gently pulled the quilt up a little higher to cover Harumiko’s shoulders.
"I still can’t believe I actually slept in the same bed as Harumiko last night. It feels just like a dream... but I know for sure it wasn’t, because I’m wide awake and everything feels completely real!" Hiroshi thought to himself, looking over at Harumiko as she slept peacefully on the bed.
Hiroshi then moved to the side and began getting dressed. He’d only worn a bathrobe to sleep last night, which had actually been surprisingly comfortable. For the longest time while travelling, he’d even slept fully clothed – when you’re out in the open, it always gets quite cold at night.
"I still keep thinking about how Harumiko only wore a bathrobe to sleep last night. Just remembering it makes me feel all flustered for no reason. But anyway, I’d better get dressed properly first!" Hiroshi thought to himself as he pulled on his clothes.
Hiroshi really did have it good – having such a beautiful girl by his side. It really felt like he’d finally reached the best part of his life. Maybe fate had been unfair to him for too long, and this wonderful girl was the universe’s way of making it up to him.
"Ah well, I won’t wake her up. Let her sleep properly – she hasn’t had a good rest in days, and she must be absolutely exhausted. I’ll go down and see if there’s anywhere selling breakfast around here!" Hiroshi thought to himself as he walked slowly over to the window and looked outside.
But even as he stood there, his mind was filled with memories of the night before – images that had already become etched deep into his heart and mind.
"She only wore that bathrobe, and nothing else underneath... I almost regret that I’m still so young. If I was five or six years older, things might have turned out differently... But still, this is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me, so I’ll just hold onto these beautiful memories..."
"In all the thirty-something years I’ve lived, this is the very first time a girl has ever asked to sleep in the same bed as me. It’s also the first time I’ve ever shared a room with a girl at all. I really need to cherish these memories and keep them safe in my heart forever!" Hiroshi thought to himself as he looked out of the window.
Even though he was already dressed and standing by the window, Hiroshi’s heart was still racing and his mind was in turmoil. After all, lying in the bed right behind him was this beautiful girl he cared so deeply about, and the bond between them had only grown stronger with time.
After a few minutes, Hiroshi finally made up his mind to leave the room and go look for breakfast. It had been so long since they’d had proper meals, and now that they were staying in this village, they finally had the chance to rest properly and enjoy themselves for a while.
Hiroshi took the spare room key, gently pulled the door closed behind him, and stepped out of the inn to walk along the streets and search for somewhere selling breakfast.
The moment Hiroshi stepped out of the room, Harumiko slowly opened her eyes. She lay there staring up at the ceiling, her mind racing with thoughts she couldn’t quite put into words.
"What on earth was I thinking? I still can’t believe I said the things I said last night, and that I made that choice... Just thinking about it now makes me feel so shy and embarrassed!" Harumiko thought to herself, her face burning red as she pulled the quilt right over her head.
