Chapter 146 : Tsunade Worried About Riku’s Injury
Jiraiya was completely taken aback.
"If that’s the case, this jutsu of yours is truly terrifying."
It was the most fearsome and merciless technique Jiraiya had ever seen.
Because once it struck, the body would be obliterated on a cellular level—completely annihilated. Not even those with strong regenerative abilities could survive it.
Unless someone possessed physical resilience on par with the Third Raikage, whose body was said to be so indestructible that even space-time ninjutsu couldn’t tear it apart, there was no escaping this.
Riku smiled.
"Come on, let’s go take a look. It’s my first time using this jutsu—I want to see what kind of destruction it caused."
Jiraiya, equally curious, followed to witness the technique’s destructive force firsthand.
Soon, the three of them arrived at a massive crater, and both Naruto and Jiraiya were stunned into silence.
Naruto couldn’t believe a human being was capable of creating such devastation. Before them yawned a crater more than a hundred meters wide.
Even Jiraiya was shocked. His Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan couldn’t come close to this. Not even remotely.
He said seriously, "Riku, now that you’ve mastered this jutsu, your strength has grown by leaps and bounds."
Riku, however, seemed indifferent.
"Actually, Naruto could learn this technique too—if he first manages to fully master the Nine Tails’ power. This jutsu is highly destructive to the user’s body as well, but once Naruto gains control over Kyubi chakra, that won’t be a problem anymore."
Mastering Kurama’s chakra would drastically boost Naruto’s healing and physical capabilities. Even if he used the Rasenshuriken, the damage to his body would be negligible.
As for Riku, he completely enveloped his hands with chakra, preventing the Rasenshuriken from harming him at all.
However, such chakra control was extremely advanced. Even with Kurama’s power, Naruto might not be able to replicate it—so Riku had no intention of teaching him his own method.
Jiraiya looked toward Naruto.
"This jutsu isn’t suitable for him yet. Maybe once he truly masters Kyubi power. You’re right—it’s terrifying. This is the most powerful ninjutsu I’ve ever seen."
In truth, Riku’s Lightning Style techniques were far stronger than the Rasenshuriken.
That’s why he relied more on Lightning Style ninjutsu, with Water Style and Fire Style being secondary.
Though Naruto clearly wanted to learn it, he could see how serious Jiraiya’s concerns were. He understood that he wasn’t ready for a jutsu this advanced and self-damaging.
Just learning the Rasengan would be enough for now.
After returning to the inn from the mountains, everyone rested.
Naruto, Jiraiya, and Riku stayed in the same room.
Tsunade and Shizune each had their own.
The next day, Riku teleported directly to the mountains behind Tanzaku Town to begin a solo training session.
He didn’t return until noon.
No sooner had he entered the room than Tsunade showed up, her expression dark and serious.
Riku, who was sitting and reading a book, looked up at her, puzzled.
"What’s wrong?"
Tsunade strode straight up to him, took his hands in hers, and examined them.
After confirming there was no damage, she finally relaxed.
Then she scolded him, "Jiraiya told me you developed some insanely powerful ninjutsu that could completely destroy your hands!"
Riku immediately understood what this was about and chuckled.
"Jiraiya really doesn’t explain things clearly. Yes, I created a new jutsu, and it does carry serious side effects—for most people. But since I developed it myself, I’ve accounted for that. It doesn’t affect me at all."
"You can check my body if you want—see for yourself."
Riku had only meant to joke, but Tsunade actually took him seriously.
As she examined his body, Riku gave a wry smile.
"I was only kidding. You didn’t have to go that far."
It wasn’t until she finished and confirmed there were no issues that Tsunade finally relented.
"Good. But I heard this jutsu can destroy cells completely—even sever the connections between them."
"If that’s true, then even the best regenerative abilities wouldn’t help. How the hell did you come up with something like that?"
Riku laughed.
"It’s an upgraded version of the Rasengan. You know how the Rasengan is all about shape transformation? I just added some Nature Transformation using other chakra types, and developed this version."
"Don’t get me wrong—it’s incredibly powerful. But honestly, I don’t find it as easy to use as my Lightning Style techniques."
Compared to the Rasenshuriken, Riku still preferred using Lightning, Fire, or Water Style ninjutsu.
In truth, he only developed the Rasenshuriken out of curiosity.
It was like the Raikiri—he’d created a version of it too, but he never used it.
These days, he learned ninjutsu purely because it was fun.
But because of that passion, Riku had mastered numerous S-rank and A-rank jutsu.
Tsunade fixed him with a serious look.
"You should avoid exposing this kind of technique so casually. A ninja’s trump cards are supposed to be kept hidden. If others learn your abilities, it becomes extremely dangerous—even those closest to you shouldn’t know everything."
Riku nodded.
"I understand."
Tsunade was right. Once a ninja’s capabilities were exposed, they became vulnerable to assassination.
That’s how the Third Kazekage and Fourth Kazekage were both killed.
In a direct confrontation, Sasori of the Red Sand would have stood no chance against the Third Kazekage. Even if Sunagakure wasn’t that powerful overall, someone labeled the strongest Kazekage in history wouldn’t go down so easily.
But assassination? That was another story.
In this world, even a Jonin could kill a Kage-level ninja with the right intel.
It wasn’t unheard of.
Of course, if you were as powerful as Uchiha Madara or Senju Hashirama, you didn’t have to worry about such things.
Those two had transcended the limits of ordinary shinobi.
That’s why the Kage of each village rarely left their own territory—they were vulnerable targets.
There weren’t many true powerhouses in the shinobi world.
So Riku genuinely appreciated Tsunade’s concern.
After a moment, he turned to her.
"Actually, there’s a medical ninjutsu question I’ve been meaning to ask you."
With that, he gathered the various pieces of medical knowledge he’d picked up from his reading, pointing out some aspects that had been confusing him.
He genuinely loved learning about medical ninjutsu.
For Riku, it was just another part of the fun.
