Naruto: Lost to Hinata on Purpose, and Now Everything's a Mess

Chapter 112 : Is There Such A Powerful Genin?

Hoshigaki Kisame realized that his swordsmanship and physical strength were no match for Riku’s. He frowned, thinking to himself, This kid’s kenjutsu and strength are top-tier.

Even his taijutsu is exceptional. At his age, his chakra reserves shouldn’t be very high, and that B-rank Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu he just used must have consumed a large portion of it.

If I want to defeat him, I’ll have to switch to ninjutsu. That’s where I excel, anyway. I might be one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, but I’ve never been known for my swordplay.

With that, Kisame sheathed Samehada and rapidly formed hand seals.

"Water Style: Super Shark Bomb Jutsu!"

As the technique activated, a massive water shark surged out of the lake beside them. Over ten meters long, it bared razor-sharp teeth that gleamed like steel—just like a real shark’s.

"Roaaar!"

The massive shark lunged toward Riku with its jaws wide open.

Riku, calm under pressure, held his short sword in one hand while quickly forming seals with the other.

"Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!"

Once again, he unleashed the technique. His hand seals were precise and rapid, and the ninjutsu activated instantly.

From the surface of the nearby lake, a mighty water dragon erupted, roaring as it surged forward to meet the oncoming shark.

"Roaaar!"

The two jutsu collided head-on. The shark bit deep into the water dragon’s side, while the dragon retaliated by tearing the shark apart with its jaws.

After that brief but violent clash, both chakra constructs lost form and collapsed into a torrent of water.

Kisame and Asuma, who stood not far from Riku, were both stunned.

Asuma felt a twinge of guilt and disbelief. I seriously underestimated this kid. He already released a B-rank Water Dragon Jutsu earlier—by all logic, a Genin his age should be close to chakra exhaustion. But he just used it again with no problem...

I really misjudged him.

Kisame’s expression darkened. "Tch... Water Style: Five Feeding Sharks!"

Frustrated that the Super Shark Bomb Jutsu had failed to kill Riku, Kisame quickly unleashed an even more powerful ninjutsu.

As he finished the hand seals, five enormous water sharks burst from the surrounding lake—each one over ten meters long, constructed entirely from chakra-infused water, and radiating killing intent.

They launched themselves toward Riku with terrifying speed, their jaws wide and gnashing.

A smug smirk spread across Kisame’s face. "Heh. Let’s see how you handle this, brat."

But in that moment, Riku calmly sheathed his short sword and began weaving another set of rapid hand seals.

"Water Style: Water Colliding Wave!"

In an instant, five high-pressure streams of water blasted forth from the surface at blinding speed.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Each water jet tore through its respective shark with brutal precision. The attacks were devastating—their force enough to shatter boulders, with each jet nearly half a meter wide.

The five sharks exploded into harmless sprays of water, dissipating on contact.

Even Kisame was stunned. How does this brat have so much chakra? His control over Water Style is terrifying—it might even surpass mine. Is this kid even human?

Riku was only twelve, nearly thirteen. Yet his chakra reserves, ninjutsu arsenal, and Water Style mastery were on par with—or perhaps greater than—Kisame’s own.

This is ridiculous, Kisame thought. He’s a Genin? Yeah, right. No Genin should be this powerful.

Technically, Riku should have already advanced to Chūnin after the last exam. But with Konoha still in the middle of reconstruction and no official Hokage appointed, the promotions had stalled. So on paper, he was still a Genin.

To Kisame, it was unbelievable.

Looking at him with newfound respect, Kisame called out, "Hey, kid. What’s your name?"

Riku answered calmly, "Riku."

Kisame narrowed his eyes. "Riku, huh... Alright. I’ll remember that."

The Akatsuki duo had originally come to capture the Nine-Tails’ jinchūriki. Making too much noise would draw unwanted attention—and facing off against an entire Hidden Village wasn’t part of their plan.

Glancing toward Itachi, who was still engaged in a battle with Kakashi on the lake, Kisame called out, "Itachi, we’re leaving."

Itachi had just finished casting Tsukuyomi on Kakashi and was already preparing to withdraw. Kisame’s request surprised him.

But as he glanced over at Riku, he understood.

I never imagined he’d become this strong... Itachi thought, narrowing his eyes.

With no further hesitation, the two disappeared in a blur of motion.

Riku didn’t attempt to stop them.

He easily could have.

Even Itachi, wielder of the Mangekyō Sharingan, would not have been able to match him. Riku’s own Mangekyō Sharingan far surpassed Itachi’s in raw pupil power. And his dojutsu ability—an anti-genjutsu that reflected illusions—meant Itachi’s Tsukuyomi would have no effect on him unless his own eye power was stronger.

Even Shisui’s Kotoamatsukami wouldn’t work against Riku.

In theory, anyway—he’d never tested it.

If someone like Madara used Tsukuyomi, Riku wouldn’t be able to reflect it. The Rinnegan’s pupil power simply exceeded his Mangekyō. But against Itachi and Kisame? He could’ve defeated them both right there.

But he wasn’t in the mood.

As the two disappeared, Riku appeared beside Kakashi, who had collapsed under the effect of Tsukuyomi.

Moments later, Might Guy arrived—unfortunately, just too late for a fight with Kisame.

Seeing Kakashi unconscious, Riku quickly stepped forward and steadied him.

"Guy-sensei, take Kakashi to the hospital. I’ll handle Asuma-sensei and Kurenai-sensei."

Guy frowned. "Itachi’s genjutsu... it’s as terrifying as ever."

Without wasting time, he lifted Kakashi onto his back and rushed toward Konoha Hospital.

While Riku’s medical ninjutsu was far more advanced than most medics in Konoha, it still couldn’t compare to Tsunade’s level.

He had taught himself the basics, but many of the higher-level techniques required formal training.

In the entire shinobi world, no one surpassed Tsunade in medical jutsu.

Turning toward Kurenai and Asuma, Riku moved to their side and knelt.

Placing his hands over their bodies, he began healing their wounds with calm precision.

Kurenai was in worse shape, having suffered severe backlash from her failed genjutsu.

Asuma’s wounds were mostly physical, superficial.

Still, Riku worked carefully, stabilizing both of them with practiced ease.
