Chapter 113 : Even Before Graduation, He Was Already The Strongest Konoha Medical Ninjutsu
With both hands glowing green, Riku treated Asuma and Kurenai simultaneously. Asuma could already feel his wound rapidly healing.
A little surprised, he asked, "Riku, you actually know medical ninjutsu?"
The sheer scope of Riku’s hidden abilities left Asuma more than a little confused.
Kurenai also spoke up. "Yeah, you really know medical ninjutsu? I just saw you fighting Hoshigaki Kisame, and you were evenly matched. You’re definitely not the same as before. You’re just a Jōnin?"
Riku smiled faintly. "I only know a little—superficially. If I really knew everything, I would’ve just treated Kakashi-sensei directly."
Kurenai shook her head. "No, this is Healing Jutsu. Even among Konoha’s medical-nin, only a few have truly mastered that. It’s a very advanced form of medical ninjutsu. The fact that you can perform it at all means your skills aren’t anywhere near ’superficial.’"
Riku just smiled and didn’t respond further, choosing instead to continue treating them silently.
But Asuma was now convinced—Riku’s calm demeanor while facing Kisame wasn’t just bluster. It wasn’t Jōnin-level strength. It might even surpass it.
He might already be stronger than Kakashi.
And Riku was only thirteen.
That level of talent... it was even more terrifying than Kakashi’s back in the day.
Because Kurenai had been in the same class as Kakashi, she knew just how gifted he had been. Yet Riku might already be beyond that.
Riku didn’t want to continue the conversation. After spending over ten minutes healing their injuries, he stood up with a slight smile. "Alright, I’m heading to the hospital to check on Kakashi-sensei."
Asuma and Kurenai stood as well.
"We’ll come too. Last we heard, he was caught in Uchiha Itachi’s genjutsu."
Riku nodded. "Yeah, it’s true. He was hit by a very advanced illusion. I can’t cure it, but maybe someone else can."
Asuma and Kurenai paused, confused. They weren’t sure who Riku was talking about—mostly because they weren’t very familiar with the person he had in mind.
But Riku, as a former student of the Fourth Hokage and a known prodigy in his youth, had far more contact with the Sannin.
Riku smiled faintly. "I’m talking about Lady Tsunade. She’s the greatest medical ninja in the entire shinobi world. No one’s surpassed her in all these years. If she were in the village, she’d definitely be able to cure Kakashi-sensei."
Asuma and Kurenai both nodded. "If it’s Lady Tsunade, then yes... this wouldn’t be a problem."
Riku chuckled. "But the problem is—who knows where she is now? Without her, I can’t do anything about Kakashi-sensei’s condition."
The two Jonin sighed.
"Lady Tsunade left the village years ago. She’s been wandering ever since. No one really knows where she is."
Riku shook his head with a quiet smile. "Well, I’ll still go check on Kakashi-sensei."
Asuma and Kurenai nodded in agreement.
The three of them soon arrived at Konoha Hospital. When they got there, they spotted Might Guy and Jiraiya already waiting.
Seeing Jiraiya, Riku paused in surprise. "Master Jiraiya is here too?"
Jiraiya turned, frowning slightly. "Who?"
Riku stepped forward, walked over to Kakashi’s bed, and placed his hand gently on Kakashi’s forehead. He checked the situation calmly before withdrawing.
"It was Uchiha Itachi and the Hidden Mist’s Hoshigaki Kisame. Kakashi-sensei must have fallen under the influence of Itachi’s Sharingan. His condition is bad—beyond what I can treat."
Jiraiya watched as Riku used Healing Jutsu with a practiced, natural motion. He was momentarily stunned. "You know medical ninjutsu?"
Asuma chimed in with a smile. "Not only does Riku know medical ninjutsu—he’s on an extremely high level. He just healed both Kurenai and me. He’s even mastered Healing Jutsu."
Guy nodded as well. He already knew about Riku’s exceptional talent in medical ninjutsu. So when he heard that even Riku couldn’t do anything for Kakashi, his expression turned serious.
"If even you can’t help Kakashi, then no one else in Konoha can. Do you... still have any of that healing medicine?"
"Maybe that could help?"
Riku gave a wry smile. "Guy-sensei, those are healing pills. But this is a genjutsu. Kakashi-sensei wasn’t physically injured—he’s trapped in an illusion. Technically, he doesn’t need treatment. If we wait a year or two, he’ll recover on his own."
"But I think that’s too long for Kakashi-sensei."
Guy sighed deeply. "This year’s been one disaster after another... Orochimaru attacked Konoha, the Third Hokage died, and now Kakashi collapses. The village is in a dangerous state."
Guy, despite his usual eccentricity, could be deadly serious when the moment called for it.
Riku remained calm.
He turned to Jiraiya. "Master Jiraiya, would you be able to bring back Lady Tsunade? If you did, I’m sure she could treat Kakashi-sensei. And she might even be able to help Lee. With her, I don’t think anything would be impossible."
Jiraiya studied Riku. He was curious. How good was Riku’s medical ninjutsu really? Was Guy being overly optimistic—or was he serious?
He turned to Guy. "Guy, just how advanced is Riku’s medical ninjutsu?"
Guy came out of his gloom, looked at Jiraiya, then glanced at Riku. Riku gave a slight nod, giving him permission to speak.
"Actually," Guy said, "Riku was already the strongest medical-nin in Konoha before he even graduated from the Academy. Even the director of Konoha Hospital isn’t on his level. Only Kakashi and I know this."
"We didn’t tell anyone because Riku doesn’t like attention. He hates being caught up in too many things."
Jiraiya stared at Riku like he was staring at some kind of mythical beast. "At your age, better than the director of Konoha Hospital? That’s insane. If Guy hadn’t said it, I wouldn’t believe it."
But he did believe Guy—because Guy wasn’t one to lie, and he had no reason to.
Asuma and Kurenai were equally stunned. They had assumed Riku was just skilled—maybe slightly better than your average medical-nin. But now they realized he wasn’t just "better."
He was the best. In the entire village.
It was hard to even fathom. Medical ninjutsu wasn’t like regular ninjutsu—it was harder to learn and far harder to master. You couldn’t brute-force it with chakra alone; you needed control, precision, and insane natural talent.
And Riku... had mastered it before even graduating from the Academy.
That wasn’t just genius.
That was monstrous.
