Chapter 114 : I Want To Teach You A Fourth Hokage Ninjutsu
Riku said calmly, "It’s just one more way to save someone, and I haven’t even mastered it yet. I can’t heal Kakashi-sensei at all."
Jiraiya smiled. "Don’t say that. For someone your age, your skill in medical ninjutsu and your overall strength is impressive. Honestly, if you weren’t so young, I’d even suggest the village council consider you for the position of Fifth Hokage."
The corner of Riku’s mouth twitched slightly. He looked at Jiraiya and replied, "Don’t throw around ideas like that. Becoming Hokage might be the dream of many shinobi, but it’s not mine."
He hadn’t denied whether he could become Hokage. In fact, Riku was confident that if he ever truly set that as his goal, he could become Hokage at the same age as Minato Namikaze.
But Riku didn’t want to be Hokage. He disliked the hassle, and he wasn’t the type to sit around doing nothing either.
What he did enjoy was learning—ninjutsu, Sage Jutsu, medical ninjutsu.
Becoming stronger was part of it, but more than that, learning made Riku feel like he wasn’t wasting his time.
Jiraiya chuckled. "Actually, I have a way to find Tsunade. If you come with me, I can definitely track her down."
Asuma, Kurenai, and Might Guy all looked over when they heard that.
Riku already knew that Jiraiya was planning to take Naruto out of the village. What he hadn’t expected was that Jiraiya wanted him to come along as well.
Can I go?
Jiraiya added, "So? Are you in? I could teach you a few ninjutsu you haven’t learned yet. I know Kakashi knows a lot of jutsu, but I’ve got a pretty impressive collection myself, you know."
"After all, I’m one of the Legendary Sannin."
Riku stared at Jiraiya, his expression calm. "Was it the village elders who asked you to find her? Judging by your personality, they probably wanted you to accept the title of Fifth Hokage, but you refused. Then you decided to have Lady Tsunade take your place."
Jiraiya laughed. "You sure know a lot. You guessed right. So—what do you say? Coming with me?"
Riku glanced at Kakashi.
Jiraiya said, "Once Tsunade returns, she’ll be able to heal Kakashi without issue."
Riku thought for a moment before nodding. "Yeah. I think the village council wants me to go with you too. Their real goal is probably to keep an eye on you."
Jiraiya chuckled. "You’re too sharp for your own good. Guessed it again. But there’s no need to monitor me—I’m not planning to run away or anything."
Riku looked toward Kakashi. "Alright. Guy-sensei, Asuma-sensei, Kurenai-sensei, Kakashi-sensei... I’ll leave things to you."
He understood clearly that his current skill in medical ninjutsu was far from perfect.
While his self-healing abilities were already extremely advanced—enough that most conventional weapons couldn’t even threaten his life—he couldn’t yet heal others from complex or unusual injuries.
Take Kakashi, for example. After being hit with Tsukuyomi, his mental state was on the verge of collapse. It was likely that Itachi had stopped just short of crossing that line—he must’ve known where Kakashi’s mental limits lay and spared him.
Even Kisame was a mystery. Why didn’t Itachi simply destroy Kakashi’s mind?
The only reason Kakashi wasn’t killed inside the Tsukuyomi was because Itachi had held back.
Though Itachi’s Mangekyō Sharingan had indeed consumed a lot of chakra, he still had more than enough power to kill someone like Kakashi.
But of course, killing Kakashi outright had never been the plan.
The other Jonin nodded quietly.
Jiraiya stood up and smiled. "Good. Then come with me. I’ll teach you one of the Fourth Hokage’s techniques. You know how powerful Minato was, right? By the way, I heard from Kakashi that you’ve already mastered the Flying Thunder God Technique."
"The jutsu I’m going to teach you pairs perfectly with that."
Jiraiya and Kakashi had always had a strong relationship, so naturally Kakashi had told Jiraiya quite a bit about Riku—though he hadn’t mentioned the fact that Riku already had Kage-level strength.
Not that it mattered. Jiraiya had already seen it firsthand during their encounter in the mountains.
Riku nodded. "I’m curious. What kind of jutsu did the Fourth Hokage have that works with the Flying Thunder God? Honestly, my Chidori is already a pretty solid match."
For Riku, Chidori had a much sharper offensive edge than the Rasengan.
While Rasengan had greater destructive power in a broad sense, Riku possessed a wide variety of devastating techniques.
And when it came to piercing power, he felt that Flying Thunder God worked better in tandem with Chidori—for him, at least.
Especially since he didn’t need to perform any hand signs to activate Chidori.
He could use it instantaneously, without seals, and could modulate its power freely.
As for Rasengan—based on Riku’s current chakra control, theoretical knowledge, and understanding of ninjutsu—he had already mastered both chakra shape and nature transformation. He understood the principles behind Rasengan and could likely recreate it from scratch.
But he just had no interest in it. He liked Chidori more.
Besides, he had already developed a number of powerful original jutsu. He didn’t feel any real motivation to learn Rasengan.
This time, Riku was mostly joining Jiraiya to get out of Konoha.
Staying in the village was getting boring.
He also wanted to learn medical ninjutsu directly from Tsunade.
Hearing Riku’s comment, Jiraiya laughed. "The jutsu I’m thinking of is definitely more powerful than Chidori. And it doesn’t require hand signs either."
Riku wanted to say his Chidori didn’t need hand signs either.
Even Kakashi still had to use seals when casting Chidori.
But Riku didn’t see the point in mentioning that.
He followed Jiraiya out.
The two of them made their way to Konoha’s village gates. Jiraiya turned and said, "We’ll wait for Naruto here. I want him to come with us too."
"Uchiha Itachi’s real reason for coming to Konoha this time was Naruto. So I need to keep the kid close."
Leaning casually against the village gate, Riku said calmly, "It’s probably because of the Nine Tails sealed inside Naruto."
Jiraiya grinned. "You guessed right again."
Riku shrugged. "It doesn’t take a genius. Naruto doesn’t have anything else that would interest someone like Itachi."
"I’m more curious about why they want the Nine Tails."
"And they took such a huge risk—those two actually dared to break into Konoha."
Standing beside him, Jiraiya sighed. "Right now, Uchiha Itachi is part of an organization called Akatsuki."
He went on to explain what he knew about Akatsuki—its members, its structure, and its apparent goals.
When Jiraiya finished, Riku frowned. "All of Akatsuki’s members are extremely dangerous. I don’t buy for a second that they’ve joined forces out of some sense of justice."
Jiraiya nodded. "Their goal seems to be collecting the Tailed Beasts. But why they’re doing that... no one knows yet."
