Chapter 870: Reviving The Gods; Kindness Must Be Repaid
Lin Moyu had long suspected that the lower layer of the Immemorial Battlefield served as a graveyard for the Gods.
Now, that suspicion had been confirmed.
After the great war, the surviving Gods had not returned to the main world. Instead, they chose to remain in the lower layer, sealing themselves away to safeguard the world they had fought to protect.
It was a sacrifice born of duty.
Yet even Gods were driven by the instinct to survive.
They entered an endless slumber, clinging to the faint hope that one day someone might awaken them.
Though that hope was vanishingly small, they still chose to wait—even if thousands of years passed and they perished in their sleep before salvation ever arrived.
Among them, however, Kunlun Great God was an exception.
Rather than remaining in the lower layer, he and his wife returned to the Human World to slumber. Although they drew upon the world force to sustain themselves, they repaid it many times over.
Kunlun Great God left behind countless weapons and treasures, making an immeasurable contribution to humanity.
Spreading his Deathwings, Lin Moyu descended into the Green Dragon Ocean and swiftly arrived at the Water God’s Palace.
The palace remained exactly as he remembered. Endless streams of the water element flowed into it from the ocean.
Mixed within those currents was a trace of law force, but the concentration was far too weak. It was enough to preserve the palace, yet insufficient to restore the Water God herself.
For a God, the greatest nourishment was world force.
Of course, it wasn't the only source, but it was by far the most effective.
The Water God remained sealed within an enormous block of crystal-clear ice. She looked as dignified and graceful as ever, radiating a sacred aura that left no room for impure thoughts.
Lin Moyu guided a thread of the law of undeath into the block of ice, carrying with it a portion of world force.
Now that the world force was steadily recovering, consuming such a tiny amount would have no meaningful impact.
The law of undeath overflowed with boundless vitality. Its life aspect rivaled the law of life itself, rapidly rekindling the Water God's fading life force.
Empowered by the world force, her slumber finally came to an end.
The ice melted away.
The Water God gently descended to the floor and let out a soft moan, and her eyes slowly opened once more.
"We meet again. You..."
She paused the moment she saw Lin Moyu. Her eyes widened before a brilliant smile blossomed across her face.
"Congratulations. You've actually become the world lord!"
Her voice carried nothing but sincere joy. There wasn't the slightest trace of envy.
Just like her godhead, her nature was as gentle as flowing water.
"How do you feel?" Lin Moyu asked.
The Water God carefully examined herself before smiling, "Very good. Your law is truly miraculous. It repaired my divine soul."
"Combined with the world force, my godhead has been fully reactivated."
"I don't think I need to continue sleeping anymore."
With her divine soul restored and her godhead awakened, her injuries had essentially healed.
There was no longer any need for slumber.
Lin Moyu's theory had proven correct.
The law of undeath possessed two opposing aspects, and its life aspect was in no way inferior to the law of life.
Smiling, Lin Moyu said, "I'm glad to hear that. I plan to revive the other Gods as well. What do you think?"
The Water God returned a warm smile, "You are already the world lord. Shouldn't a matter like this be your decision alone?"
Then her eyes curved mischievously, a rare hint of playfulness appearing on her elegant face.
"Or… could it be that you still don't understand what it truly means to be the world lord?"
Lin Moyu paused. Was there another meaning behind that title?
The Water Goddess chuckled softly, "So you really don't know. Now I have to decide whether I should tell you."
Knowing she was teasing him, Lin Moyu replied helplessly, "You'd better tell me."
"Alright, alright. To us Gods, the world lord has another title. Our master."
The explanation immediately made everything clear.
The Gods had been birthed by the world itself. Now that he had become the world lord, he had naturally become the master of the Gods.
Yet judging from the Water God's expression, she harbored no resentment about being subordinate to someone else.
On the contrary, she smiled with obvious amusement, "Who would have thought our master would turn out to be a human... and such a young one at that."
Lin Moyu smiled, "So does that mean I can order you around?"
The Water God blinked her beautiful eyes, "Of course. You are our master, after all."
There wasn't the slightest trace of reluctance in her voice.
If that was truly the case, many things would become much easier.
Lin Moyu briefly explained his plans.
After a moment's thought, the Water God nodded, "There shouldn't be any major problems. We Gods originally coexisted peacefully with humanity."
"Our needs are completely different, so there has never been any real conflict of interest between us."
Lin Moyu nodded, "Good. Then I'll go revive the rest of the Gods."
He had already decided where they would live.
After devouring the Dreadland, the world had expanded considerably, gaining an entirely new continent.
The continent was enormous, stretching over twenty thousand kilometers across.
Since so few Gods remained, it would provide more than enough space for them.
With restrictions placed to isolate it from the Human World, there shouldn't be any conflicts.
Without further delay, Lin Moyu set out to revive the remaining Gods.
The Water God accompanied him as his guide, since she knew the resting places of every God trapped in slumber. With her leading the way, they avoided countless detours.
High above the Meteorfall Continent floated a palace resembling a brilliant star.
Within it slumbered the God of Stars.
He had suffered grievous injuries during the great war.
Had no one intervened, he likely would have perished in his sleep within a few hundred years.
Fortunately, Lin Moyu had arrived in time.
Using the law of undeath together with world force, he pulled the God back from the brink of death.
Their next destination was the Wind-Lightning Continent, where the Wind God lay sleeping.
Lin Moyu still possessed the Wind God's key, allowing him to open the palace with ease.
Although, with his current strength, such tools had long since become unnecessary.
No God’s palace in the world could keep him out anymore.
As he healed the Wind God, Lin Moyu couldn't help thinking of the Lightning God.
It was a pity, but the Lightning God had been far too resolute.
After losing all hope, she had chosen self-destruction without hesitation.
Had she endured just a little longer, he might have been able to save her.
Even so, she had left behind her Law Crystals, her godhead, and her god slot.
Lin Moyu intended to attempt her resurrection using those items.
The chances were slim, but not nonexistent.
It was worth trying.
Besides the Lightning God, there was also the Poison God.
Lin Moyu still possessed the Poison God's corpse, along with his godhead and god slot.
That resurrection might also be possible.
According to the Water God, the Poison God had never been fond of humanity and had clashed with the humans more than once.
Yet when the Dreadbeasts and the Zerg invaded, he had never taken a single step backward.
The number of Zerg he had poisoned to death was beyond counting.
One after another, the sleeping Gods awakened.
Lin Moyu traveled from one place to the next, reviving each God in turn.
Just as the Water God had said, now that he had become the world lord, he had also become the master of the Gods.
None of the revived Gods objected.
Their memories remained rooted in the age when the Gods and the humans had fought side by side, and they all regarded humanity with goodwill.
At last, they arrived before the great vortex in the lower layer.
The Water God gazed at it solemnly, "This is where the God of Souls sleeps."
"Back then, he was a Transcendent God, just like I was. Among all of us, he was considered the one most likely to become the world lord. Unfortunately, he failed."
"But his talent was truly extraordinary. Like the rest of us, his realm dropped after we were struck down from our pedestal, yet he managed to cultivate his way back through sheer effort."
"Although he never regained his former peak, he still became a Great God once again and slaughtered numerous Dreadbeasts."
The God of Souls specialized in soul techniques.
Regardless of the level of battle, soul techniques were among the most terrifying imaginable.
He had never built a palace.
He had no need for one.
Anyone who dared approach his resting place would immediately come under attack from his soul techniques.
