Chapter 869: Your Talent For Courting Trouble Is Truly Extraordinary
Dongfang Yao felt a wave of embarrassment when her identity was exposed.
She hurriedly changed back into her own clothes before returning to Lin Moyu's side.
Lin Moyu smiled faintly, "Emperor Dongfang chose you as his successor, didn't he?"
Dongfang Yao nodded, "Father wanted me to begin handling state affairs, but to avoid unnecessary gossip, I disguised myself as him."
"That makes sense." Lin Moyu replied with a nod.
Standing before him, Dongfang Yao found herself inexplicably nervous.
With Lin Moyu's current status, her identity as a princess was insignificant by comparison.
Not only her—even Dongfang Yi could no longer stand on equal footing with him.
Lin Moyu had become the uncrowned king of the human race, a figure of absolute authority.
Even the revered Emperor Di could no longer compare to him in status.
She didn't dare ask why he had suddenly come to see her. Instead, she showed a polite smile and said cautiously, "Godly General Lin, would you like to have a seat while I fetch my father?"
Lin Moyu shook his head, "I came to see you. Come with me to Medicine God Shu's medicine hall."
Dongfang Yao froze.
He had come specifically for her?
Realizing what that could mean, her eyes widened. She covered her mouth to suppress a gasp as her beautiful face flushed crimson.
"Gidly General Lin, are you saying you can save my mother?"
Lin Moyu nodded, "It should be possible."
"Thank you! Thank you, Godly General Lin!”
Dongfang Yao trembled with emotion, her voice quivering.
Saving her mother had always been the deepest wish in her heart.
Now, after so many years, that wish was finally within reach.
"I'll go tell my father the good news."
"You can tell him later.”
With a casual wave of his hand, Lin Moyu whisked both of them away.
Within this world, he wielded supreme authority.
The next instant, they appeared inside Medicine God Shu's medicine hall.
The air was filled with the rich fragrance of medicinal herbs, refreshing anyone who breathed it in.
The hall had no guards, for no member of the human race would ever dare cause trouble for Medicine God Shu.
The two walked straight inside, heading directly toward the inner courtyard where several apprentices were hard at work.
The moment they saw Lin Moyu and Dongfang Yao, the apprentices immediately stopped what they were doing. Their faces lit up with excitement.
"Godly General Lin!"
"Heavens! Godly General Lin is here!”
"And Princess Yao came with him... Could it be..."
Ignoring the murmurs, Dongfang Yao led Lin Moyu to the chamber where her mother remained sealed.
After a brief inspection, Lin Moyu confirmed that her condition was stable.
Although Medicine God Shu had been unable to cure the Putrid Corpse Poison, he had successfully suppressed its spread.
More than a decade had passed, yet the poison remained confined to her body and had not reached her soul.
Even if it had, Lin Moyu could still have saved her.
As long as centuries had not passed, it posed no real difficulty.
He flicked his finger, releasing a thread of the law of undeath.
Brimming with vibrant life force, it instantly erased the law embedded within the Putrid Corpse Poison.
The poison rapidly dissipated, and the wounds caused by it healed before their eyes.
Dongfang Yao stood frozen in disbelief.
It... was cured just like that?
The poison that had tormented them for more than a decade had vanished in an instant.
There was no room for doubt.
Lin Moyu spoke softly, "The rest is up to your family. I'm leaving."
By the time Dongfang Yao came to her senses, he had already disappeared.
She didn't even have the chance to thank him properly.
Lin Moyu had no interest in witnessing the emotional reunion between mother and daughter.
Instead, he entered the Immemorial Battlefield.
Here, he could no longer teleport as he pleased.
The Immemorial Battlefield existed independently of the world, governed by its own unique rules.
Even as the world lord, Lin Moyu had no choice but to abide by its rules.
Fortunately, with the scale Antares had given him, traveling between the two places remained fairly convenient.
Lin Moyu said, "Antates, I'm planning to resurrect several Gods.”
Antares narrowed his eyes, "Do you understand what will change once the Gods return?"
Lin Moyu had already considered that question.
The resurrection of the Gods would inevitably affect the world.
Until now, humanity had been the world's sole dominant power.
Once the Gods returned, a second major force would emerge.
If conflict broke out between the two factions, the world could once again descend into chaos.
Lin Moyu already had a plan.
"I'll find a place for the Gods to live. By keeping them separate from the human race, minimizing contact, and establishing a few restrictions, that should prevent any serious problems."
Antares gave a slight nod, "Then let me tell you a few things."
"I'm listening."
After gathering his thoughts, Antares began, "Back then, most of the Gods perished. Only a handful survived by falling into deep slumber."
"The Gods are beings born from the world itself. Recovering from such injuries requires an enormous amount of world force.”
"But at the time, very little world force remained. If they had returned to the main world to sleep, they might have exhausted what little was left."
"So most of them chose the Immemorial Battlefield as their resting place."
"The Immemorial Battlefield also contains world force, but not enough for them to absorb in any meaningful quantity. Recovering there is incredibly difficult. They may never awaken at all.”
Lin Moyu asked quietly, "Did they know that?"
"Of course."
That statement struck Lin Moyu deeply.
Even knowing that recovery would be nearly impossible and that they might never awaken, the Gods had still chosen not to burden their own world.
The Gods were children born of the world itself.
Their love for it was no less profound than humanity's.
Lin Moyu understood exactly why Antares had told him all this.
Antares was worried about where Lin Moyu's loyalties would lie if the humans and the Gods ever came into conflict.
He knew Lin Moyu valued loyalty and personal bonds above all else, and he didn't want him to be caught between the two sides.
Lin Moyu smiled, "Thank you. Trust me, I can handle it."
Seeing that Lin Moyu had already made up his mind, Antares asked, "When do you plan to leave?”
"There are still nine days."
He had spent one day in the Putrid Corpse land, leaving nine days before the ten-day deadline he had agreed upon with the Demon Emperor.
Antares said, "Before you go, don't forget to take the Godslaying Fortress with you. Even if you don't use it in battle, it makes an excellent means of transportation.”
With Lin Moyu's current strength, he was already capable of operating the Godslaying Fortress.
Although he couldn't yet unleash its full combat capabilities, using it to deal with a few Transcendent God realm opponents would still be effortless.
"Means of transportation..." Lin Moyu frowned, "Why would I need that?"
Antares chuckled, "You'll understand once you leave the small world. Just bring it with you. I wouldn't steer you wrong.”
"And kid... once you're out there, watch your back."
"You've already managed to offend the Star Tree, the Zerg, the Dreadbeasts, the Shadowkind... and even the earth branch of the Elemental Dragons."
"To make this many enemies before you've even left the small world... your talent for courting trouble is truly extraordinary. Even I have to admire it."
"Anyway, once you reach the greater world, keep a low profile. Blend in with the humans there first, understand?"
The greater world was nothing like the small world.
It was vastly more dangerous, where a single careless mistake could cost one their life.
Lin Moyu nodded, "Don't worry. I'll keep an extremely low profile."
Antares rolled his eyes.
For some reason, hearing those words from Lin Moyu was the least convincing thing he'd heard in a long time.
