Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Chapter 849: Growing Stronger Through Battle

As the Undead Eye swept its gaze across the forest, Lin Moyu linked himself to its vision.

From high above, he saw countless monsters hidden within the woods.

The spider monsters were only a fraction of them.

These monsters appeared to exist in symbiosis with the forest, lying dormant beneath leaves and branches most of the time.

To the naked eye, they were nearly impossible to detect.

He also spotted numerous venomous serpents lurking in the undergrowth.

Spiders, serpents, and various other creatures shared one trait: they were all small.

Even the largest serpents measured less than ten meters long—a miniature by the standards of monsters at this level.

The forest was extremely abnormal. Not a single giant beast could be found; instead, it was populated entirely by small creatures.

The more unusual things seemed, the more cautious Lin Moyu became.

The forest showed no reaction to the Undead Eye hovering overhead.

After observing for a moment, Lin Moyu decided to test an attack.

With a rumble, the Undead Eye swept its gaze across the area.

It was like striking a hornet's nest. The entire forest exploded into chaos, even more violently than when the Bloodthirsty Bees had invaded earlier.

Piercing shrieks echoed through the woods and into the sky.

Under Undead Gaze's attack, monsters throughout the forest died in droves.

Then the trees began to move.

Their branches extended at astonishing speed, weaving together into a dense canopy.

Through the Undead Eye's vision, Lin Moyu saw a towering tree.

The souls of the trees connected, merging into a massive soul that blocked the Undead Eye's attack.

The process was nearly identical to what had happened with the Bloodthirsty Bees.

This time, however, the trees' soul was even stronger than the bees', making it difficult for the Undead Eye to break through.

Moments later, countless water arrows erupted from the forest.

Infused with the law of water, they streaked toward the sky and slammed into the Undead Eye.

Frog monsters had emerged throughout the forest, crouching on the ground as they continuously launched water arrows.

Each creature was at least at the half-step Transcendent God realm, and every water arrow contained the law of water, carrying tremendous power.

Under the relentless barrage, the Undead Eye burst apart.

After probing the forest, Lin Moyu made no further moves.

During the upheaval earlier, he had sensed a profound and unmistakable danger.

It was a feeling he had not experienced for a long time.

Whenever it appeared, it served as a warning that a genuine threat may be present—not necessarily one capable of killing him, but certainly one that could cause serious trouble.

Retreat or press forward? That was the question.

Emperor Di swallowed hard, "What do we do?"

Lin Moyu pondered briefly before replying, "Returning empty-handed isn't my style."

He decided to bulldoze his way through this entire forest.

There was no need to rush. He could advance step by step and treat the place as a leveling ground.

Looking toward the forest, he said quietly, "There isn't much time left for leveling. I have to make the most of it."

Emperor Di said solemnly, "Killing monsters to level up is certainly fast, but it's not the best method."

Lin Moyu smiled faintly, "I know. But it doesn't matter."

Human class users could level up by killing monsters. As long as the monsters were appropriate, leveling speed could be astonishing.

However, this method had a limit. Once a class user reached level 99, monsters no longer provided EXP.

EXP was, at its core, soul force.

To break through level 99 and enter the Transcendent God realm, one had to rely on personal comprehension.

They needed to comprehend law, grasp the principles of heaven and earth, and deepen their mastery of their own law arts.

Their soul, attributes, and every aspect of their power had to be pushed to the limit.

Relying solely on hunting monsters might accelerate growth, but it often left a shaky foundation.

Correcting those flaws later was extremely difficult.

As a result, most God-level experts stopped leveling through monster hunting after realizing this truth.

Many abandoned the practice as early as level 86.

This was one reason peak-level class users rarely took action.

Lin Moyu was no exception.

Since reaching level 86, he had no longer depended on monsters for advancement.

But his current situation was different.

His foundation was already exceptionally solid.

In fact, he was unlikely to encounter any significant bottlenecks before reaching the God King realm.

Under such circumstances, leveling through killing monsters carried no drawbacks.

That was why he had slaughtered the Bloodthirsty Bees without hesitation, and why he intended to do the same here.

The undead army appeared, blotting out the sky as it surged into the forest.

The forest, which had only just settled, erupted into chaos once more.

Skeletal Divine Warriors swung at the trees with their axes, while Bone Dragons unleashed torrents of Dragon breath seemingly capable of turning the forest into an inferno.

Taking the opportunity, Lin Moyu cast Detection.

There was no response. The spell had failed.

Although this wasn't the first time it had happened, it still caught him off guard. Detection rarely failed.

Emperor Di cast Detection as well and received the same result. Unlike Lin Moyu, he wasn't surprised.

"In the deep layer, Detection often fails."

Lin Moyu wasn't convinced. He sensed something was off, but the battle had already begun, leaving no room for hesitation.

He set the matter aside for the moment.

The battlefield stretched across a vast expanse, giving Emperor Di his first true glimpse of the undead army's full might.

More than a million undead swept forward with overwhelming momentum.

The trees launched a furious counterattack, colliding head-on with the undead.

Yet beneath the axes of the Skeletal Divine Warriors, entire swaths of trees fell.

Monsters emerged from the forest in droves and attacked the undead.

Spiders spewed enormous webs that ensnared the Skeletal Divine Warriors. The webs were astonishingly tough, making it difficult to break free from.

But a moment later, flames erupted across the webs.

While the webs could restrain the Bloodthirsty Bees, they were helpless against fire.

The Fire Lich appeared, granting the undead Fire Rings.

Carrying law aura, the Fire Rings set the forest ablaze.

Combined with the Dragon breaths, they transformed the forest into an inferno.

Marching through the flames, the undead army looked like a legion from hell itself—unstoppable and merciless.

Towering trees over two hundred meters tall crashed to the ground one after another.

The entire forest shook violently.

More monsters poured out from the depths, throwing themselves into the battle.

After observing for a while, Lin Moyu relaxed gradually.

The situation was unfolding exactly as he had hoped. The trees at the outskirts of the forest stood no chance against the undead army.

The undead drove forward, carving a breach more than a hundred kilometers wide along the outskirts.

Lin Moyu explained, "The deeper we go, the more dangerous it becomes. We'll clear the outskirts first. That way, we won't get caught in a pincer attack."

Emperor Di nodded in agreement.

The plan was cautious but sound. It would cost some time, yet it was undoubtedly the safest approach.

The undead army advanced steadily. No matter how many monsters emerged, they were ultimately annihilated.

Lin Moyu had completely seized control of the battle's rhythm.

From above, the forest appeared to stretch roughly five hundred kilometers deep.

In only an hour, Lin Moyu had pushed forward nearly ten kilometers.

Compared to the Bloodthirsty Bees, the undead army resembled a swarm of locusts even more. Wherever they passed, nothing survived.

The ground was littered with fallen trees and monster corpses.

Lin Moyu summoned a cluster of flames and activated Raise Dead.

Massive numbers of trees rose once more, transformed into his resurrected.

They immediately joined the battle, turning against their former allies in an instant.

"Growing stronger through battle…" Emperor Di murmured.

What he had imagined earlier was now unfolding before his eyes.

Lin Moyu continued summoning resurrected as the army advanced. His forces swelled, and the pace of the offensive grew faster.
