Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Chapter 848: Terrifying Forest

As Lin Moyu asked his question, the mist churned more violently.

Like a raging beast, it thrashed about, baring its claws and fangs as it surged in every direction.

The human face within the mist twisted with anger, "Those people were a bunch of bastards."

Lin Moyu chuckled softly, already guessing what it meant.

When he said in the past, he was referring to the people of the previous age.

Antares had mentioned before that those people were unscrupulous.

Many of the tragedies plaguing the current age could be traced back to them.

The gatekeeper puppet spoke in a similar manner, clearly harboring a deep hatred toward the people of the previous age.

Lin Moyu still didn't know exactly what they had done to leave the present age in such a miserable state.

If he ever encountered them, he would make sure to get answers.

Even if they were his predecessors and came from the same world, some debts still needed settling.

Lin Moyu could hold grudges when necessary.

"Can anyone enter once they reach the Transcendent God realm?" He asked.

After its brief outburst, the mist puppet quickly regained its composure.

"First, you must be a native living being."

"Second, you must have reached the Transcendent God realm."

"As long as those conditions are met, you may enter the Starlight Path.”

"However, the Starlight Path is filled with danger. Your life and death will be your own responsibility. A word of advice: do not enter unless you have reached Transcendent God 3rd tier."

The puppet spoke far more than before.

Its creator had clearly imposed numerous rules, compelling it to answer certain questions.

Though it possessed intelligence, it could not defy the rules set by its maker.

Having received his answer, Lin Moyu asked, "What if I want to enter right now?”

The puppet sneered, "You can try."

A massive axe materialized within the mist, wrapped in law. It was obviously not something to be trifled with.

The puppet was extremely powerful, though exactly how powerful remained unclear.

Lin Moyu wasn't afraid of it, but there was no reason to confront it now.

He smiled, "Then I'll return after reaching the Transcendent God realm."

He stepped back. Instantly, the massive axe vanished into the mist.

As a guardian puppet, it only needed to act when someone attempted to break through.

As Lin Moyu departed, the puppet itself dissolved into the mist and disappeared.

Its sole purpose was to guard this place and enforce the rules.

As long as no one violated the rules, it could remain inactive for thousands of years.

Lin Moyu spoke lightly, "Senior, if you intend to enter the Starlight Path someday, it's best to wait until you've reached Transcendent God 3rd tier.”

Emperor Di shook his head, "Transcendent God 3rd tier... I've never even dared dream of such a thing."

For him, becoming Transcendent God 1st tier was already a distant dream. As for Transcendent God 3rd tier, it had never crossed his mind.

Since the ancient great war, not a single Transcendent God had emerged among the human race.

A determined look flashed across Lin Moyu's eyes, "You should dream of it. As long as there's life, there's hope."

Emperor Di took it as simple encouragement, "Thank you for your kind words."

With two Dragon Beads secured and the Starlight Path, a route out of the deep layer located, the expedition could already be considered a complete success.

Yet Lin Moyu had no intention of returning.

He still intended to retrieve the remaining two Dragon Beads for Antares.

Leading the way was a vast black cloud of one hundred thousand Bloodthirsty Bees. With them clearing every obstacle ahead, Lin Moyu planned to thoroughly explore the deep layer.

Finding Dragon Beads was nothing like searching for a dungeon entrance on the Meteorfall Continent.

The continent was limited in size; given enough time, anything could eventually be found.

The deep layer, however, was enormous.

Searching for Dragon Beads here was like looking for needles in the sea.

Fortunately, Emperor Di was now accompanying him.

Using the Bagua Compass and the Dragon Beads already in Lin Moyu's possession, Emperor Di could estimate the locations of the remaining ones.

Previously, Emperor Di lacked the strength to travel freely through the deep layer.

But with Lin Moyu at his side, the dangers of the deep layer no longer posed a threat.

Continuously manipulating the Bagua Compass, Emperor Di calculated the directions of the final two Dragon Beads.

A mysterious connection existed between the Dragon Beads, and the compass relied on that subtle bond to determine their locations.

Although he couldn't pinpoint exact coordinates, he could identify the general direction.

Wherever Emperor Di pointed, Lin Moyu headed.

This time, there was no need to avoid danger.

The Bloodthirsty Bees carved a path forward, and the two charged straight ahead.

The Bagua Compass never once signaled danger, indicating a safe journey throughout.

In reality, they encountered numerous monsters along the way, including several at the Transcendent God realm.

But Lin Moyu dealt with them swiftly.

After becoming resurrected, the Bloodthirsty Bees retained their original law and remained as lethal as ever.

Enhanced by his law art, their offensive power had even increased.

Aside from being unable to use soul manifestation, they were stronger in every respect.

The Transcendent God monsters they encountered were either slaughtered by the Bloodthirsty Bees or fled in panic.

Lin Moyu made no effort to pursue those that escaped. His objective was the Dragon Beads, not hunting monsters.

After traveling more than ten thousand kilometers and changing direction over a dozen times, Emperor Di finally determined the location of a Dragon Bead.

Ahead lay a vast forest filled with colossal trees over a hundred meters tall.

The deeper the forest stretched, the more immense the trees became.

Even from a distance, Lin Moyu could see towering giants in the forest's depths, some seemingly piercing the heavens, standing at least five or six hundred meters high.

Lin Moyu did not rush forward.

The Bagua Compass in Emperor Di's hand began spinning again, warning of extreme danger within the forest.

"A Dragon Bead should be in the deepest part of the forest."

"I've never been here before. It's extremely dangerous."

Emperor Di's voice was heavy, his expression grave.

The entire forest radiated an oppressive aura.

Even without the compass's warning, he could sense the danger lurking within.

If not for Lin Moyu's presence, he would not have dared approach, much less stand before it.

Lin Moyu felt it as well, "It is indeed dangerous."

Emperor Di nodded heavily, "What do we do?"

Lin Moyu replied in a deep voice, "Antares's Dragon Beads must be recovered, no matter the cost."

The meaning was obvious. No matter how dangerous the forest was, they had to try.

The Bloodthirsty Bees took the lead, charging into the forest first.

The moment they crossed the boundary, the forest seemed to awaken.

Branches swayed violently, filling the air with rustling sounds.

Countless dark figures burst from the shadows, darting through the trees with astonishing speed.

Lin Moyu quickly saw what they were—spider-like monsters, and there were an astonishing number of them.

They spat streams of liquid at the Bloodthirsty Bee.

The liquid expanded instantly into enormous webs that spread across the air, engulfing their target.

The enormous webs possessed astonishing toughness. Even the Bloodthirsty Bees' stingers struggled to pierce them.

Once their prey was trapped, the spider monsters swarmed in and devoured it whole.

In the blink of an eye, all one hundred thousand Bloodthirsty Bees were ensnared.

Less than five minutes later, the entire swarm had been annihilated.

Silence returned to the forest.

The spider monsters vanished as suddenly as they had appeared.

Only the occasional sound of chewing echoed faintly through the trees.

The sight sent a chill through Emperor Di.

He had previously claimed that the Bloodthirsty Bees were the most dangerous creatures in the deep layer.

Looking at the scene before him, that claim no longer seemed true.

"It really is a case of one thing countering another. The Bloodthirsty Bees are unstoppable elsewhere, capable of piercing anything."

"Yet they're completely helpless against these spiders."

At that moment, Lin Moyu resorted to his old reliable method.

The sky darkened as the Undeath World descended, and the hundred-thousand-meter Undead Eye materialized.
