Episode 86: Strange Requests and Gardens

- Totally lost.

That's what I thought when I tried to tell you the details of the request, at Isaac's, that is, some time after visiting the Latour family.

The location of the Latour family was well stated on the requisition given in the Adventurers' Union (Guild), and the location was easy to understand by saying that there were no houses around by being a suburb of the city Malt.

For that reason, it was good to get to the point where we could get there without getting lost, but the problem was ahead of us from there.

It was a fairly huge mansion, with a slight peek across a rather large looking garden.

I'm glad that's not a rare sight as an old house in a local city, but that garden was the problem.

Whether it was the hobby of some of the Latour's historical contemporaries, the road leading from the entrance to the Mansion was not the main road at all, and when I took a step from the entrance, I could hardly see the surrounding views anymore.

Why, because it's probably surrounded by a kind of rose and a tall hedge made of plants, and all you see is a green tinted one.

That shapes the passage of the linear combination, slightly further ahead and curved.

Even if it turns there, the path is also bent or branched.

That goes on and on.

I mean, it was a maze, no matter what you think.

In fact, it's been going normally for a while since I got inside, but I ended up completely lost.

Before entering the mansion, I consider myself surrounded by garden hedges.

I just came to ask the Latour family for more information about the request.

Naturally, just wanting to know what the request was about, and yet not wanting to spend time on something like this, I decided to ask a lot of the gatekeepers silently guarding the entrance to the mansion.

I've already shown him the requisition form, so he doesn't seem to disagree with me going in there, staring straight at the distance and not paying attention to me, but he's the only one here who can ask me about this situation.

I said.

"... besides, Iriguchi, don't you?

The gatekeeper saw a maze of roses spreading across the entrance, shaking his head,

"... no. No, maybe there is, but I don't know."

I replied.

It is understandable to say that the expression was honest and serious, and that he thought honestly before answering it.

And that's why the despair I felt is huge.

I mean, we have to get out of here to get to the mansion.

"... how long is it gonna take?

"Is it even the Mansion? … it is only by people……. The directions seem to be changing regularly, and this and the set attack time…"

and the gatekeeper says in an unfortunate voice.

I guess I'm not the only one who wants to penetrate that would no longer be a labyrinth when it comes to a garden maze with regular directions.

The gatekeeper

"There seems to be a special magic item that I said so. For generations, the head of the Latour family seems to be a hobby for collecting magic props, and this was created using one of them."

I'm a little surprised there's such a thing.

But it's not unlikely.

Demonic props and other tools called sacred objects, temperaments, curses, etc. are made by artisans and produced from the labyrinth, but there is uniformity in their standards or types about certain things, but there are also many special items.

Uniformity, for example, is commonly used more frequently and belongs to a simple mechanism, such as light-fired magic props. These things tend to be relatively inexpensive because mass production is somewhat advantageous.

When it comes to special items, that's what makes one dish… in a way, my mask, robe, etc. will hit it.

The effect is also very special and the price is pink.

Because it is a jade stone blend, such as some that are not sure what the use is, some that are very useful, and the value varies depending on what you see.

Even my mask, well, turns out to be a pretty useful and convenient demonic item from me, but this was something that was sold in the first place in a bundle of three sentences.

From the store clerk who was selling it, that's what I didn't need at all, and it was less valuable.

Well, the dewstore clerk would be more right about the treatment of a cursed mask that won't come off once I've worn it, but I don't know if I was lucky... or bad right now.

"I can't wait to make it..."

If I whine like that while I'm sick of it, the gatekeeper laughs,

"I know how you feel. However, if you get lost, the main road to this point seems to emerge after a certain amount of time, so why not be challenged without much notice? He seems to be offering some kind of magic trick to those who arrive at the mansion."

That's what I said.

Something tells me that the tone of the gatekeeper is somehow telling me what I heard, and I feel strange, and the gatekeeper says that you understand how I feel.

"I used to try, too. Unless a customer comes, this gate is always closed, but it was open at that time. Because there was a sticky paper that said that if you attack the maze all over the city, you will present one demon prop... there was also a map of the Latour family. So you found it and you've come this far."

Well, I can see that the Latour family did that on a whim to see if it was a little play or something.

More than that, a house with financial resources is something I don't really know as if I had thought of it.

The common thing is to throw a party, but those who are tired of that kind of step forward do things that the rest of us don't understand.

I guess it was part of that.

The gatekeeper continues.

"Of course, because I'm not the only one who saw the sticky paper that was stretched all over the city. There were several others. So, we go into the maze first... but after a while, we're all going to be back together. When I heard the story, I couldn't figure out the way along the way. So when I was on my way, some of the hedges moved and they opened the main road to the entrance. The first time I heard about it, I was surprised that I could do that... not so surprised because I use magic props. So, while I'm sure I can't do it either, I tried to reassure you that it didn't seem like you could come home..."

"Did you follow O-ru?"

"Yeah. I'm totally out of order, and I'm willing to say I won't be able to do it again. So, I asked the owner of the Latour family to arrange some magic items, but at the time, I was embarrassed and unemployed... and asked him if he could hire them because they were good. Then..."

"He said he did it. I see..."

Well, it's a house with so much space and mansions that you can see from afar, and you can't run out of money collecting magic artifacts.

You'll have enough room to hire one gatekeeper.

But this gatekeeper, he seems pretty serious, and yes, he doesn't look like he's going to be necked...

"By the way, maybe I will, but why do you just keep doing it?

"I defied my boss. We should have crossed the world a little better, I'm reflecting. Well, that's why I got a job here, so maybe there's something I should seriously live with."

"Is there something I should be serious about? Don't say good things..."

Can I, too, be a human one day if I work hard seriously?

At least I seriously intend to live before this happens.

But it wasn't all bad either because they got the qualities to be eaten and become stronger as a result.

You mean life is a strangling piece of rope?

I had a strange empathy for men. It was me.

"It didn't have to be like this. So, I'm going to go ahead and see if there's anything else I can do for you.

It is a question that labyrinth seekers often ask the preceding seekers.

Did the man also understand the joke well, deepened his grin, and then said:

"Well, the sun doesn't count..."

I tilted my neck at that word, but any advice from a senior is often helpful.

Thank you, and then I stepped into the garden labyrinth.
