After taking care of the surveillance cameras, Chen Mo walked up to Su Yuqing’s door with his toolbox.

Before Su Yuqing’s astonished eyes, he opened the door in a flash, even managing to clear out the foreign object stuck in the lock.

Once he was done, Chen Mo noticed Su Yuqing staring blankly at him, seemingly lost in thought. He immediately grinned and said, "I learned this lock-picking method online this morning. I can’t believe it actually worked. I was thinking it would cost at least fifty to call a locksmith, so I figured I’d give it a shot myself first. I didn’t expect it to be this effective."

Su Yuqing wasn’t the type of girl who was easily fooled, but she had a natural tendency to trust whatever Chen Mo said.

So, after he said that, she really didn’t have any further suspicions.

She was just inwardly marveling at how talented Chen Mo was.

’He can learn how to pick a lock with tools just by watching a video.’

Seeing that Su Yuqing didn’t suspect him, Chen Mo breathed a silent sigh of relief.

After all, his initial reason for messing with the door was to protect Su Yuqing from harm, but it had indirectly led to the two of them sleeping in the same bed.

If he handled this poorly, it would be hard to avoid being suspected of having impure intentions.

’How awkward would that be.’

With everything settled, the food delivery arrived.

They had left in a hurry this morning and hadn’t prepared lunch, and eating instant noodles again didn’t feel right. So for lunch, Chen Mo decided to get some junk food.

So he ordered some fried chicken.

His main goal was actually to let Su Yuqing indulge a little, since she rarely ate things like this.

"Let’s just make do for lunch. One meal won’t make you fat, so don’t worry about it."

Seeing the fries, burger, and fried chicken, Su Yuqing was clearly conflicted, wanting to eat them but also hesitant.

Chen Mo naturally knew what she was thinking and immediately assuaged her worries.

Hearing Chen Mo say that, Su Yuqing finally picked up the burger. Just then, Chen Mo added, "Besides, gaining a little weight isn’t a bad thing."

Following Chen Mo’s gaze, Su Yuqing’s pretty face flushed red, and she began to eat the burger in small bites.

’I’m developing quite well, actually,’ she thought.

But when she remembered the girl on Chen Mo’s TV projection from Friday night, she felt she was indeed a bit lacking in comparison.

A woman wants to look beautiful for the man she likes, and Su Yuqing cared a great deal about Chen Mo’s preferences in the opposite sex.

Although it was hard to find out directly, she would gather bits of information from small details.

In truth, though, all her pondering was misguided.

The younger Chen Mo from the past was simply driven by the urges of a boy his age.

It wasn’t that he had a preference for a specific female body type.

His true preference was, in fact, Su Yuqing herself.

For the Chen Mo who had returned to this time, there was only one woman who made his heart stir: Su Yuqing.

She didn’t need to change a single thing. Whether she was a little chubbier or a little thinner, Chen Mo wouldn’t mind.

However, if it ever became unhealthy, Chen Mo would still help her correct it.

After all, being too overweight or too underweight wasn’t good for one’s health.

Although junk food was unhealthy in large amounts, an occasional indulgence could bring a pleasant sense of satisfaction after a meal.

Because she hadn’t slept well last night, Su Yuqing’s heavy eyelids soon closed after lunch, and she drifted off to sleep on the sofa.

Chen Mo was still watching TV when he felt a faint weight settle on his shoulder.

He then realized the girl beside him had fallen asleep at some point. Her forehead was resting against the side of his neck, and the faint scent of sandalwood drifted from her hair.

He lowered the TV volume slightly, smiled gently, and wrapped his arm around Su Yuqing’s back, pulling her into his arms so she could rest more comfortably against his chest.

The young woman’s scent slowly filled his nostrils. Gazing at the peaceful expression on her face as she slept in his arms, an inexplicable calm settled over Chen Mo’s heart.

After so many years as a criminal detective, his life had always been a whirlwind of busyness and tension.

Now, back in a normal life, it was so peaceful that Chen Mo sometimes felt at a loss.

Before long, Chen Mo also gradually drifted off to sleep.

Su Yuqing slept very soundly.

She felt a warm presence constantly enveloping her, making her feel very comfortable.

It wasn’t until she slowly opened her eyes that she discovered Chen Mo was holding her protectively in his arms.

Feeling Chen Mo’s arm, still holding her firmly even in his sleep, a wave of warmth spread through Su Yuqing’s heart.

Just as she was about to get up, thinking that leaning on him like this might be uncomfortable for him, Chen Mo’s arm instinctively tightened around her.

This made Su Yuqing freeze, not daring to move again.

She gently lifted her head for a peek. Seeing that Chen Mo was still fast asleep, she remained obediently and quietly nestled against his chest.

Listening to the steady, strong beat of Chen Mo’s heart, Su Yuqing’s thoughts began to drift.

Previously, whenever she had a quiet moment to think, Su Yuqing would subconsciously become anxious and insecure.

But now, her psychological issues had indeed improved significantly. This time, she wasn’t thinking about what she would do if her current happiness turned out to be fake.

Instead, she was thinking about how she could work harder and be more proactive in holding on to the happiness she had right now.

Even something as simple as being held in Chen Mo’s arms like this was an immense happiness for her.

She wanted this happiness to continue.

But to grasp happiness, it clearly wasn’t enough to just passively enjoy the other person’s efforts and the warmth they gave her.

Chen Mo had done so much to care for and protect her.

He took her in, gave her food, clothing, and a place to live, all without any demands, simply caring for her. It wasn’t just that; he had even encouraged her to take that step in confronting her parents.

You could say that Chen Mo had saved her in every possible way.

But so far, it seemed she had only been unilaterally enjoying his care and affection.

She couldn’t do anything for him in return, which made Su Yuqing feel a bit guilty and uneasy.

She also wanted to be able to do things that would make Chen Mo happy.

But after thinking it over and over, she realized that right now, she had nothing to give but herself.

As for giving her body, Su Yuqing naturally dismissed the idea. "Love is a tremor of the soul, not a collision of flesh."

That was a beautiful act that should happen naturally as feelings deepened and the time was right, not a bargaining chip to be used as payment for a debt of gratitude.

Doing so would destroy the beautiful meaning and emotional value of the act itself.

As Su Yuqing’s thoughts ran wild, she had no idea that simply being alive and by Chen Mo’s side was the greatest happiness and joy he could ask for.
