One-Eyed Monster

Speaking of which, these residents of Bistal are quite remarkable.

While the monster was battling hectically, they showed no fear, and not a shred of disgust towards this monster. Instead, their bellies were full of resentment towards the guards of the Court of Guards.

Chattering away, they gathered here as they pleased, completely ignoring Igor and the others who were fighting the monster!

Igor and Kadi were taken aback for a moment; both gripped their weapons tightly, entangled with the eight-handed monster, doing their utmost to keep the monster’s attention to prevent harm to innocent people.

One could say Igor and the others had great control. Although the aftermath of the confrontation kept occurring, all potential harm was neutralized by Igor and his team.

Though people weren’t harmed, the buildings couldn’t avoid being damaged.

Rumble, clatter.

These ancient buildings were more or less attacked, with cracks and fractures here and there...

The sounds of these buildings being attacked only infuriated the residents of Bistal even more; each time they heard something shattering, their hearts ached terribly.

This resentment naturally vented towards the members of the Court of Guards...

"You really are culpable!"

"These buildings might be older than your grandfathers, and yet you’re just gonna watch them get destroyed!"

"Move, won’t you? Are you just decorations? Is the tax money we pay to keep you fed and do nothing?"

The team captain felt utterly ashamed, this onslaught from the residents left him bewildered.

He wished he could find a crack in the ground to crawl into!

But all the guards in his squad were looking at him expectantly, he was the senior here, and these young guards all listened to his orders. Faced with this most tricky issue, he couldn’t just back down!

"Everyone, calm down, our Court of Guards is also thinking of a solution!" The captain could only muster this one phrase after much stammering.

"Calm down, you say!"

"Look at what you’ve done, how can we calm down!"

"We don’t even need you to go to the battlefield and resist Wensi and Mantai’s army, just protect this place, which you can’t even do, and you dare to ask us to calm down."

"We’ll sit at the gates of the Court of Guards tomorrow!"

"No, we’ll go to the Government Administrative Office gates and ask Lord Popovich for justice!"

The residents of Bistal launched a fervent verbal attack on the guards of the Court of Guards, leaving the new recruits clueless.

These rookies all looked at the team captain, holding their hunting tools tightly, their palms sweaty.

The captain felt insurmountable pressure; no way could his lone mouth win against so many others, and in Bistal, he couldn’t use force to intimidate them. Even if he could floor these residents single-handedly, he wouldn’t do it.

This was Lord Popovich’s rule: any government personnel must serve the taxpayers wholeheartedly. Regardless of how taxpayers treat you, you must speak to them politely.

The team captain always remembered this maxim, yet he couldn’t maintain a smile now; he felt dejected.

This monster just had to tear down pillars, adding fuel to the fire!

However, they indeed had no good method to deal with the current predicament.

Quietly waiting for rescue, no way, no squad from the Court of Guards would willingly jump into this mess.

If you get embroiled with these residents in a verbal spat, don’t expect comrades to save you. One comes and falls into the same trap, unless Lord Popovich himself comes here, the residents won’t stop complaining.

In Bistal, words could indeed wound...

The team captain didn’t have high hopes. All he could do now was hope the battle between the monster and the two youths ended soon.

No matter which side wins, it would be advantageous for them since they could then use their hunting tools.

But now it’s impossible, with the two youths fighting, rushing in would only make things worse.

The guards did have basic combat acumen; they at least discerned that the current situation couldn’t accommodate their intervention.

Helping would only create more trouble...

However, the residents lacked insight into these nuances; they only knew the problem must be rapidly resolved.

The Circus members stood momentarily dumbfounded, never having seen such a scene before—even those who had visited Bistal had never witnessed government personnel trampled under citizens’ feet. For a moment, they even forgot Igor and the others were engaged in battle, clearly shocked by what was unfolding before them.

Igor and the others continued to fight, frequently glancing at what was happening behind them. Though they didn’t know what exactly was transpiring, the reactions suggest it was quite entertaining.

This only stoked Igor and Kadi’s curiosity even more.

However, before them was the eight-handed monster, relentlessly launching fierce attacks against them.

They needed to end the battle swiftly, Igor gestured to Kadi.

Kadi flipped his Butterfly Blades and charged directly at the monster, which quickly wielded its pillar to block.

Igor followed closely, his Sword Qi was like a rainbow, a streak directed at the monster.

With a tearing sound, the pillar in the monster’s hand was severed by the Sword Qi and Kadi’s blade shadows, forcing the monster to back up a step.

"Force it!" Kadi signaled to Igor to launch continuous Sword Qi attacks, allowing him a chance to find an opening.

Their rapport reached new heights, and in a flash, Igor sent out several sharp Sword Qi.

This Sword Qi formed a fierce tiger, pouncing directly at the monster. The eight-handed monster extended two hands to block, while preparing the other two to dismantle another pillar.

"You won’t destroy anything else!" Kadi ducked and dashed to the monster’s feet, the Sword Qi tiger covering him, allowing him to get close to the monster.

The Butterfly Blades flipped, and soon enough, several wounds appeared on the monster’s thick legs.

The monster howled in pain, the yellow light in its eyes faded, turning back to blue.

At this precise moment, blue flames suddenly rose from Kadi’s body, engulfing the monster completely.

Kadi jumped aside swiftly, staring blankly at the flames.

"Did you do that?" Igor asked Kadi in surprise.

Kadi looked at Igor with bewilderment: "No, it emerged on its own!"

This response left Igor scratching his head, the unexpected appearance of the flames left him stunned and silenced the residents who bombarded the Court of Guards squad with words.

The team captain of Court of Guards breathed a sigh of relief inside, these flames came just in time, saving him from a tight spot!
