Chapter 1199 - 1195: Everything’s in Chaos
The guards from the Bistal Court of Guards were clearly accustomed to such scenes.
In their hands were various capture tools, including a large net, several spears, and a variety of colorful ribbons and dolls to attract monsters.
This wasn’t their first time capturing monster pets; these tools were basically essentials whenever they went out.
The squad leader of the Court of Guards thought to himself that after being idle for so long, finally something had happened to show off their skills. They had been stifled in Bistal, eager to demonstrate their abilities but had never had the chance. Today, they finally had an opportunity they could not afford to miss.
However, upon arriving at the scene, they suddenly realized they couldn’t act immediately.
Because the monster was already entangled in combat with two outsiders.
The squad leader and the guards exchanged looks, wondering how they could capture the monster and claim credit now!
Should they capture these two strangers as well? One guard suggested with a look to the squad leader.
The squad leader considered that this seemed like a good idea, but upon assessing himself, he found he didn’t have the ability to subdue either of the strangers, so he quickly dismissed the thought.
One thing at a time, we cannot refuse guests! The squad leader gestured to his subordinates, clearly educating them not to always think of crooked ideas and handle things properly. Of course, if the squad leader had the strength to subdue Kadi or Igor, he might not have said such a thing.
Thus, the people from the Bistal Court of Guards joined the circus folks to watch Igor and Kadi battle the eight-handed monster.
The eight-handed monster moved swiftly, easily defusing Igor and Kadi’s attacks. Its eight hands seemed to be well-organized, some forming seals, some parrying, some releasing energy.
This made it difficult for Kadi and Igor because even though they were dealing with a single monster, it felt like facing a squad. The opponent had both long-range and close-range physique techniques and magic, forming a complete attack system...
The complexity bewildered the squad leader of the Bistal Court of Guards. However, they were representatives of the Bistal Administrative Office, and standing by watching others fight clearly wasn’t right; they had to do something, otherwise, they’d hardly be worthy of the uniforms they wore.
"Um, check whose pet this is, see if it’s registered with our Court of Guards!"
"Yes, sir!" A small guard took out a thick notebook and flipped through it swiftly.
In no time, the small guard finished searching the book and looked up: "Captain, the registered monster pet manual for the entire city doesn’t contain any humanoid monster registrations, nor any two-legged non-avian monster registrations..."
"Hmm? That means this monster isn’t in our registration range at all; it’s either an outsider or privately owned and unregistered!"
"Uh, that’s right!" The small guard answered after a moment’s thought.
"Good!" After listening, the squad leader turned to the circus people, "Who’s in charge here?"
The circus people remained silent, quietly observing the squad leader.
Kruz volunteered to step forward, "I’m temporarily in charge of managing the circus affairs, I’m the clown of this circus."
"It doesn’t matter who you are, I’m asking if this creature belongs to you?" The squad leader pointed at the eight-handed monster battling Igor and Kadi.
"No!" Kruz shook his head like a rattle!
"Don’t lie to us; this is a serious matter." After saying this, the squad leader bent over and lowered his head because the fight involving Kadi and the others was quite intense, with residual impacts affecting the surroundings. The squad leader instinctively avoided the aftermath.
The circus people also squatted down, the horses neighing incessantly. If not for the circus folks holding the reins, the horses might have run wildly. It must be said that the circus people controlled the horses well, preventing them from panicking and losing control for now.
"Our circus is being rebuilt and currently lacks any animal trainer, so there’s no way we have such a creature." Kruz smiled broadly, having dealt with the administrative personnel many times before, knowing how to respond.
"Then those two guys are yours, right?" The squad leader continued his inquiry. Being helpless against the monster didn’t mean he had nothing to do. The Court of Guards must make some achievements when arriving on site; questioning these outsiders seemed a good choice.
"They are," Kruz answered cautiously.
"Why did you provoke the monster for no reason, look at how we’re afraid of injuring your people, making it hard to act!" The squad leader said meaningfully to Kruz.
"We didn’t provoke the monster! It was clearly the monster that charged at us!" Kruz didn’t have a chance to speak before others argued back.
"Exactly, we were about to reach the inn when the monster suddenly charged at us, now..."
Before they could finish, the eight-handed monster and Igor caused another commotion.
This time, the monster directly demolished a store’s column, evidently using it as a weapon.
This twist gave the squad leader a headache; the monster caused more trouble. Not only did it provoke these outside circus people, but it also harassed local Bistal residents, demolishing the column would surely cause an even bigger stir!
Seems like claiming credit is out of the question, avoiding punishment is good enough!
"What are you doing!" The originally comfortable Bistal residents abruptly stood up from their rocking chairs; the fighting hadn’t disturbed them previously, but the demolished column prompted them to throw their teapots at the Court of Guards squad.
"Exactly, taking our tax money, doing this kind of thing, with the monster roaming about while being helpless!"
"Even letting guests to our Bistal confront the monster, you’re truly useless!"
The Bistal residents suddenly gathered, as if blaming the Court of Guards resonated with them, while other matters seemed incapable of detaching them from their rocking chairs...
The squad leader felt his scalp prickling; this was the situation he least wanted to face. These Bistal residents were much tougher to handle than monsters.
Now that these residents were riled up, the Court of Guards naturally became their outlet...
