The blue spatial portal had lost control.
Loki desperately hugged the Tesseract, his entire body dragged several meters forward by the intense suction, his knuckles turning a ghastly white from exertion.
He frantically tried to yank the coordinates back to the Bifrost.
But the violent spatial power inside the Tesseract absolutely refused to obey him.
Another will—deeper, more distant, and terrifying enough to make his scalp tingle—was forcefully pushing its way in from the other side of the universe through the channel.
He knew that feeling all too well.
Thanos.
The cosmic madman who had once forced him to his knees in humiliation.
The color drained completely from Loki's face.
"Damn it!"
"This is absolutely not the door I set!"
Thor roared as he rushed out of the rubble, lightning dancing wildly over his body, blood still pouring from his chest.
He stared dead at the burning city of steel on the other side of the door, his eyes practically shooting flames of rage.
"Loki!"
"Where the hell did you take us!?"
Loki gasped for air, hugging the Tesseract tightly, yet his mouth refused to back down.
"At least we're not dead yet!"
"You should be on your knees thanking me for that alone!"
Before he could even finish his sentence, a massive Leviathan roared, forcing half of its jagged body out through the spatial door.
Its thick steel scales ground violently against the edges of space, emitting an ear-piercing screech that made the surrounding Asgardian soldiers cover their ears in agony.
Before the behemoth could even fully squeeze through, Kaido was already grinning.
Kaido of the Beasts.
Former Yonko, Governor-General of the Beasts Pirates, with a bounty of 4,611,100,000 Beri.
Currently working as a security guard at the Partys Bar, Employee No. 007.
He was covered in blood, half of his dragon scales brutally ripped apart, a few black blades still firmly wedged into his broad shoulders.
But as he looked at that alien behemoth, the fanatic excitement in his eyes couldn't be suppressed in the slightest.
"Hahahaha!"
"This thing looks big enough—big enough for me to kill!"
The hard ground beneath Kaido's feet exploded. Like a demon god, he charged right through the sky full of black blades and straight into the blue portal.
Thor's expression changed drastically.
"Kaido!"
Loki also froze for half a beat.
"Has that madman completely lost his mind?"
The next moment.
In the skies above New York.
The Chitauri army was pouring endlessly out of the wormhole like a plague of locusts.
The flames of war ruthlessly engulfed Manhattan. Skyscrapers shattered, cars were flipped over, and terrified civilians were fleeing frantically through the streets.
Tony Stark was weaving perilously between skyscrapers, dragging a long tail of Chitauri chariots behind him.
Just as he was about to lead the annoying pests trailing him toward the Hulk, another blinding blue rift suddenly tore open overhead.
Tony froze for a second inside his helmet.
"J.A.R.V.I.S."
"Tell me right now that isn't another damn wormhole."
J.A.R.V.I.S.'s calm voice replied.
"Sir, the energy signature is remarkably similar to the Tesseract, but the spatial coordinates are highly unstable."
Tony didn't even have time to curse out loud.
A massive, terrifying black dragon plummeted down from the rift, carrying a horrifying wave of pressure.
Kaido's thick dragon claws slammed down on the Leviathan's skull. Carrying its mountain-like mass, he forcefully smashed it through half a block of New York City.
Boom!
The Leviathan's impenetrable steel skull was brutally stomped deep into the crust of Times Square by Kaido.
The road caved in completely.
Giant billboards shattered into pieces.
Countless New Yorkers screamed in terror, scrambling wildly in every direction.
Kaido stood proudly atop the alien behemoth's skull, slowly straightening his demon-like posture.
He looked up at the Chitauri army swarming the sky, then at the Leviathans endlessly drilling out of the wormhole.
And then, he bared his bloodstained fangs and let out a wild, booming laugh.
"Not bad!"
"This place really isn't bad at all!"
"Plenty of fodder—more than enough for me to have a good time killing!"
The Chitauri soldiers couldn't understand his arrogant rant at all.
They only knew that this terrifying monster, which had just fallen out of another rift, had violently crushed one of their Leviathans.
Dozens of chariots instantly pivoted, their cold energy blasters locking dead onto Kaido.
A torrential downpour of dense red and blue laser beams rained down on him.
Kaido nonchalantly raised a thick arm to shield his chest.
Violent explosions and fireballs instantly engulfed his upper half.
When the smoke and dust cleared, Kaido simply glanced down dismissively at a few scorched scales.
Yes, he was injured.
And yes, it genuinely hurt.
But compared to monsters on the level of Hela or Frieza, this firepower was pitifully weak.
Kaido's laughter grew even more deafening.
"Is that supposed to tickle!?"
He abruptly opened his massive maw, unleashing a devastating, scorching blast of Dragon Breath.
The crimson pillar of fire swept across the sky, instantly incinerating over a dozen Chitauri chariots into blinding fireballs.
A Leviathan just emerging from the wormhole took the Bolo Breath directly to its flank. Its steel shell turned glowing red in an instant, and its massive body completely lost control in the air, spinning wildly before violently snapping the exterior wall of a nearby skyscraper in half.
Thor plummeted heavily from the spatial rift right after him.
Without Mjolnir, he couldn't fly at all.
He could only wrap his body in his newly awakened, violent lightning, crashing hard into the street right next to a yellow taxi.
The driver was so terrified he crawled out and fled for his life.
Panting heavily, Thor braced his hands on his knees and stood up. He looked at the completely alien steel jungle around him, the Chitauri army flying everywhere, and then at Kaido, who was wildly laughing and slaughtering enemies in the distance.
His expression turned extremely grim.
"Midgard?"
"We actually got teleported to Midgard?"
Loki, clutching the Tesseract tightly, crashed into the ground not far away, rolling pathetically a few times before finally coming to a stop.
He lifted his head, saw the iconic New York skyline, and completely froze.
Of course he recognized this place.
This was the very place he was supposed to be leading the Chitauri army to bloodily conquer.
But the situation now was entirely wrong.
Too wrong.
He wasn't the Loki of this timeline.
Nor did he descend here as a high-and-mighty conqueror.
Right now, he looked like a miserable wretch fleeing with stolen loot, mercilessly dumped by the Tesseract right back into the grueling battlefield he least wanted to face.
Loki gritted his teeth, cursing under his breath.
"This is going to be even more of a headache than my sister."
Thor charged over furiously, grabbing him by the collar.
"Send us back immediately!"
"Father and Mother are still fighting a lone battle in Asgard!"
Loki was also completely enraged.
"You think I don't want to!?"
"The Tesseract is being jammed by another force!"
"There's something terrifying holding onto the coordinates on the other side, it won't let me close the door!"
Before Thor could roar back, a red and gold blur plummeted from the sky, trailing a blast of shockwaves.
Iron Man had already locked his weapons systems onto Kaido.
Tony stared at this giant, horned, scale-covered monster that breathed fire and had just squashed an alien behemoth in Times Square like a bug.
