Chapter 107: Panic
Rai and the rest had met Lord Ash and Commander Lynn and immediately informed them about the situation at hand.
And they immediately rushed to the scene with some other guards.
With the panic at hand, the beastmen around couldn’t help but wonder what was going on. Why was the tribe leader and Commander Lynn moving like some enemy tribe was invading the land or something?
Commander Lynn went in and searched the whole spot carefully and didn’t see any sign of the cub as well. He came out to meet Lord Ash and the rest.
"There was no sign of the cub," Commander Lynn shook his head while reporting to him.
Lord Ash sighed as he folded his arms. "How is it possible that she could not be seen? It’s not like she can walk or anything... how is she gone?" He was panicking within while he simply struggled to keep his calm.
Rai and his peers felt guilty at the moment as they said, "We’re so sorry for not taking care of the cub.." Rai said.
"She is lost because of us..." Kan said.
But Lord Ash stared at them, patting Rai by the hair as he said, "There’s no need for talking and putting blames right now. It doesn’t help the situation at all.."
He added, "Instead of worrying about that, we should find a way to look for the cub. We have to find her first before anything happens to her," he said with a calm expression even though he was panicking within.
Rai nodded as he said, "Yes. We’ll work hard to make sure we find her! We promise not to sleep a wink or even rest until we’ve found her!" He promised as they all nodded in agreement.
One of the guards folded his arms as he said, "In a situation like this, I think we should inform the female..."
Kan nodded as he said, "Yes. The female has a special bond with the cub! And I think she’ll be able to find the cub faster and easier! We should certainly inform her."
His peers nodded.
But Lord Ash was skeptical. "She’s busy and probably tired now.. I don’t think we should disturb her. Plus, we wouldn’t want to get her all worried about the cub.."
They were quiet as they slowly nodded while seeing his point.
Commander Lynn inputted, "You’re right, but I think she also deserves to know.. plus, they have a point, her bond with the cub might help find the little one faster."
He had managed to convince Lord Ash who told one of the guards there, "Okay go and check on the female. If she’s awake, then inform her about the situation. If not, then let the female rest some more."
The wolf guard nodded profusely as he said, "Yes!" And so he set off to inform Ayra and the other tribe lords.
With the guard gone, Commander Lynn and Lord Ash turned to the other guards.
"While he’s off to call them, we need to begin acting immediately. This is a grand emergency. Take it as an emergency worse than invasion by another tribe," he emphasized as they all nodded.
"So..." Lord Ash continued, "Go and gather all the guards and warriors around the tribe. Get them all set and prepared to begin looking for the cub!"
"Yes!" They chorused.
He added, "Note! No one takes a break until the cub is found! Search everywhere and leave no stone unturned!"
"Yes!" Rai and his peers echoed as well, standing in attention.
Commander Lynn turned to Ash as he said, "I’ll go and lead them. Gathering the men and starting the emergency search."
Lord Ash nodded. "Thanks... I’ll be counting on you," he said as Commander Lynn set off to gather the men.
While Lord Ash was there with the rest, brainstorming on the action they’d take, some beastmen approached the scene.
Beastmen around the tribe who had been watching to know what was happening and why the state of emergency was in place.
As they drew closer, they had gotten the news that the cub was missing.
"!!!!"
Panic instantly swept through the atmosphere as they murmured amongst themselves.
"What? Did I hear that right? Our cub is missing?!"
"How’s that possible?"
"What happened? Did she run away or did someone steal her?"
Panic filled the atmosphere as they stared around, scared of what could have happened to the cub. Their precious cub.
The elders instantly stepped forward as he said, "Don’t worry, we shall also proceed with the search. We can’t sit around and not do anything while our precious cub is missing."
Another nodded. "Yes, we certainly have to do something in this moment."
Lord Ash said, "Thanks for your consideration but you don’t really have to do anything.. you can rest and we’ll do the work." He was being considerate of the elders.
"Don’t say such. Little Ally is missing and this concerns all of us. So we can’t just sit around and do nothing," the elderly fox insisted.
Everyone nodded.
"Yes. We have to join in the search.. this is a general emergency. So we have to all join in and do something," the common beastman insisted.
"We’ll also join in! We have to find the cub by all means!" The youths agreed as well. "We can’t sit around and do nothing. Let’s immediately set out and begin looking for the cub.. I believe she hasn’t gone so far."
Lord Ash slowly nodded with a smile as he stared at them. "Thanks a lot for all your considerations. I’m grateful that you all want to help."
"Don’t speak of such at all," the elderly fox said. "Ally belongs to us as well. She’s our precious little fox so we have to put our hands together and find her," he insisted.
"Yes!" Everyone chorused in the most supportive way possible. They were all worried and eager to look for the missing little fox.
And just then, Ayra and the two lords had rushed into the scene in panic.
