Chapter 115: Pregnant Female.
Silence filled the atmosphere as everyone turned, staring at each other and then at the female.
"What does this mean?"
"What is Lord Vale talking about...? Who is he talking to..?"
Immediately, the beastmen struggled to quickly do the math as Lord Ash leaned closer to feel the female’s stomach. "The female is pregnant?!" He confirmed.
"...!"
Shock filled the room as everyone turned and stared at the female.
"The female is pregnant again?"
"The female will bear another cub?!" Kan inquired.
"The female will give the tribe another cub?!" The elder around confirmed, thrilled.
Lord Ash stared at Lord Zark and Vale. Lord Vale had a proud expression on his face while Lord Zark kept a calm expression.
Vale leaned closer and held the female’s hand, gently soothing his other hand against her stomach. "The cub wants to get some rest... You’re being noisy."
"..." Lord Ash blinked, rather speechless.
"This is... When? How?" Lord Ash gasped.
Rai leaned closer. "And when did all this happen?" He asked Ayra. "When did you have another cub in there?" He was rather excited like the rest. Their eyes gleaming with anticipation.
Ayra smiled. "Well, it wasn’t too long though..."
The beastmen around gasped, intrigued. "The female really is bearing another cub!"
They wanted to let out a sharp cheer of excitement, but Lord Zark cast them a cold glare. All was quiet immediately.
"Ally is eating," Zark casually said.
They nodded while staring at Ally who was still being fed by the female. But Ally had slowed down her eating pace now.
"So whose cub is it?? What beast cub are we expecting??" Kan was excited.
Ayra smiled as she fed the cub. She didn’t speak but Lord Vale was quick enough to answer.
"What do you think...?" He said, leaning closer to the female. "The female has my cub..."
Everyone gasped, thrilled.
Lord Vale added, "And his cub..." He pointed his nose to Lord Zark standing at a distance.
Silence filled the room as all eyes fell from Lord Vale to Lord Zark. No one had a thing to say for a while.
Lord Zark met their gaze as he asked coldly, "What’s wrong? What? I can’t have a cub or what...?"
"No!"
"No we didn’t mean that at all!"
"No no! The dragon lord can have all the cubs he wants!"
"Yes yes!"
They all chorused, clearly scared of what the cold dragon lord would do to them. But they were surprised that the dragon lord had grown so fond of the female enough to want her to bear his cub!
He didn’t seem to trust anyone and was always cold and moody to everyone. But he was suddenly growing gentler with the female.
"Woah, the female is going to bear cubs for the two tribe lords. So that means we’re going to get more little ones to look after like Ally!" Kan expressed happily.
"Little Ally you hear that? You’re going to soon have little siblings too!" Rai happily said.
The elder standing behind was overly excited like the rest as he said, "Soon enough the whole tribe will be filled with life of little ones running around! So thrilling!"
Another elder shook his head with a smile, saying, "I recall the times when our tribe had no hope of creating life for our coming generation. No female could give us the feel of seeing little ones around our place after we were cut off from our lands."
He shook his head as he said, "But look now, the heavens have finally blessed you with this female and we’re now looking forward to more cubs!"
The beastmen shook their heads with smiles, happy almost in tears from the ray of hope of offsprings that they were experiencing.
Because never in a thousand years did they think that an F-rank female with zero fertility would be the one blessing their land with hope of new life and offsprings and saving them in their own land!
They all stood there, expressing their joys while showering the female with blessings and congratulations.
Ayra stood there with a smile while she fed her little cub.
Soon, Ally was done eating. And she didn’t take anymore. The little cub had opened her mouth and let out a loud sound of satisfaction.
The beastmen had all stopped talking. Total silence filling the room as they all looked down to meet the cub’s little mouth.
"So cute..." One said.
"She’s so tiny when she’s done eating..."
"I can’t believe this little one would never cause trouble," an elder smiled while they adored the cub.
The cub yawned as they paused again. This time, everyone leaned close to take a look at the cub who was preparing to sleep after all the trouble she caused.
"She’s about to sleep... Shhh," Rai stated the obvious as everyone nodded.
No one spoke as they watched the cub slowly close her eyes and soon drifted into sleep, letting out soft and gentle groans.
Everyone blinked in admiration while watching the cub sleep.
"This is my first time seeing a cub sleep," one pointed out.
"Me too. She looks peaceful," another expressed in a gentle tone.
Everyone nodded in agreement while they watched her for a while.
After a while, Rai looked up at Lord Ash and suggested in a low exciting tone, "The female is bringing forth another cub soon, so I think we should celebrate the female."
Kan nodded almost immediately. "Yes I agree."
An elder nodded too. "Yes. It’s only right we celebrate the female who is about to bless our land with more cubs."
Ayra stared at them. "Oh, you don’t need to go through the trouble of that..." She was trying to be considerate of the stress they’d have to go through for it.
But Lord Ash smiled at her as he said, "Nothing is trouble as long as it’s being done for you.. so don’t mention it at all." He smiled again. "We’ll do it for you. And we’ll make sure it’s grander than the other way," he assured.
Ayra simply stared, speechless. She guessed she couldn’t refuse.
