Chapter 755: Cure You Too, By the Way
"Among a married couple, there’s no need to talk about owing each other anything. That’s far too formal," Walker Grant said, his expression unchanged, as if he hadn’t detected Preston Vance’s provocation.
Preston Vance smiled faintly. "That’s right. A couple shouldn’t be formal with each other. That’s why only estranged couples feel a sense of guilt."
Chloe Reed: "..."
She typed on her phone, then looked at Mr. Aldridge with a beaming smile. "Hello, Mr. Aldridge. I’ve used the prescription you gave me, and it’s really working."
Mr. Aldridge had been enjoying the drama. Seeing Chloe Reed address him, he chuckled. "Is that so? Let’s hear you try to speak."
Chloe Reed nodded. She tried to speak, but still couldn’t form complete words. She could, however, manage single syllables.
"Not bad." Mr. Aldridge nodded, then said, "Sit down, and I’ll examine you again."
Chloe Reed nodded and sat down beside Mr. Aldridge.
Seeing this, the two men said no more. After all, the consultation was the most important matter.
Preston Vance then took Walker Grant by the arm, saying, "Mr. Grant, this way."
Walker Grant didn’t refuse, offering a faint smile. "Thank you, Mr. Vance."
Standing to one side, Fiona Linton had taken in the whole scene and couldn’t help but think to herself, ’When men start bickering out of jealousy, is there even a role left for women to play?’
"And this is?"
Preston Vance looked at Fiona Linton.
Fiona Linton smiled and extended her hand. "Hello, I’m Fiona Linton. I’m their doctor. I saw Mr. Aldridge’s prescription and found it so novel that I decided to come along this time."
Preston Vance nodded. "A pleasure, Doctor Linton. Mr. Aldridge also told me that your treatment plan for them is very good. Your prescriptions complement each other, which should help them recover more quickly."
Fiona Linton nodded eagerly. "I have great admiration for Mr. Aldridge, so I’d like to learn from him."
She walked right over to Mr. Aldridge, her eyes shining. "Hello, Mr. Aldridge. I’m Fiona Linton."
Mr. Aldridge smiled. "Hello, Doctor Linton."
Fiona Linton looked a bit shy. "Mr. Aldridge, you can just call me Fiona. I’m here to learn, so I hope you can give me a few pointers."
Mr. Aldridge waved his hand. "Pointers are too formal. Why don’t we just chat?"
The two doctors then launched into a discussion about Chloe Reed’s and Walker Grant’s conditions.
The other three couldn’t get a word in edgewise. What was supposed to be a one-hour appointment dragged on for two, and they didn’t finish until after lunch.
In the end, Fiona Linton and Mr. Aldridge devised a new treatment plan specifically for Chloe Reed and Walker Grant.
Chloe Reed’s voice was expected to recover soon. Walker Grant, on the other hand, would still need acupuncture, and his eyesight was a particularly tricky problem.
As they were leaving, Fiona Linton and Mr. Aldridge exchanged contact information. Fiona, in particular, seemed reluctant to part ways.
Preston Vance said with a smile, "It seems Doctor Linton and Mr. Aldridge hit it off right away."
"Definitely." Fiona Linton turned and sat back down, saying, "It’s a shame we didn’t meet sooner! My mind is bursting with new ideas. Chloe, I’m going to cure you for sure!"
"What about me?"
Walker Grant’s sullen voice chimed in.
Fiona Linton waved a hand. "I’ll cure you too, while I’m at it."
Walker Grant: "..."
He laughed in exasperation.
’I’m the one footing the bill, yet I’m just an afterthought?’
Chloe Reed, meanwhile, turned to Preston Vance. She pursed her lips, then managed to force out a single syllable, "Thanks."
Her voice was still hoarse, but it wasn’t as strained or unpleasant to listen to anymore.
