Chapter 665: A Striking Resemblance
Her expression was quite serious. "I can’t guarantee I can cure you, because you came a little late. If you had come to me on the very day you were poisoned, I might have been able to cure you."
Chloe Reed’s fingers curled slightly. She then typed on her phone, and a synthetic female voice rang out, "Let’s start the treatment. It would be best if I can recover. If I can’t, we’ll deal with it then."
Fiona Linton nodded. "I’ll give you acupuncture first, then follow up with a course of herbal medicine."
She stood up to get her acupuncture kit, which held a complete set of tools.
Nathaniel Monroe watched from the side, his hands clenched into fists. He asked in a strained voice, "And what if someone’s eyes have been burned?"
Fiona Linton said, "I’d have to see his condition to make a judgment."
Nathaniel Monroe immediately asked, "Then can you come with us? He has other injuries and isn’t able to fly here."
Fiona Linton faltered for a moment, then said, "I need to consider it."
Nathaniel Monroe wanted to say more, but Daniel Hayes stopped him.
Daniel Hayes said, "Take your time to think about it. For now, just focus on treating her. Let’s see what kind of results you can get."
"Mm."
Chloe Reed lowered her gaze, sitting on the sofa with her red lips pressed into a thin line.
’She can’t even guarantee my recovery. What about Walker Grant, then?’
’I can still live without my voice.’
’But if he can’t see, how is he supposed to live?’
At that thought, Chloe Reed’s heart seized. A sharp, sudden pain made her brow furrow.
"Come with me to the other room."
Fiona Linton said once she was ready.
Chloe Reed closed her eyes, forcefully suppressing her emotions, and followed Fiona Linton into a room.
The room contained a bed, and Fiona Linton had her lie down on it.
After Chloe Reed lay down, Fiona Linton pulled the curtain shut and said, "This is as far as the gentlemen go. You can wait outside. I won’t hurt her."
Daniel Hayes and Nathaniel Monroe had intended to follow them in, but at her words, they had no choice but to stop.
Chloe Reed’s top was removed, and Fiona Linton began inserting needles into the acupoints on her body.
She felt almost no pain, and in a short while, her chest and neck were covered with silver needles.
Fiona Linton sat to one side, staring intently at Chloe Reed’s face. She couldn’t help but say, "You really do look a lot like Jasper Holloway. Seeing your face now just reminds me of him. I wish I could tear him to shreds."
Chloe Reed’s eyelashes trembled. She felt a sudden, inexplicable fear.
’She was afraid Fiona Linton would tear *her* to pieces!’
But hearing those words, Chloe Reed guessed that Fiona was probably a daughter of the Holloway Family.
’That would also explain why Vera Holloway had tried to kill her time and again.’
She simply closed her eyes, deciding not to think about those things right now.
’Thinking about it would only bring more trouble.’
’Because as she was now, she couldn’t get close to Vera Holloway anyway.’
Fiona Linton sat to the side playing on her phone, and the treatment room gradually fell silent.
Daniel Hayes and Nathaniel Monroe stood at the doorway, guarding it like a pair of sentinels.
It was too quiet. Nathaniel Monroe wasn’t used to this kind of atmosphere, so he cleared his throat and tried to start a conversation.
"Doctor Linton, have you been studying medicine since you were a child?"
"Mm, I studied medicine with my mom and dad." Fiona Linton’s voice was tinged with a hint of sorrow. "My parents taught me everything they knew. I originally thought that after our last mission was over, our family would come back to live a normal, quiet life... but I never expected..."
Her voice trailed off.
