Looking at the way half his face was wrapped in white gauze.

Chloe Reed’s lips trembled as a bitter feeling flooded her heart. She wasn’t worried about being unable to leave him. In the face of life and death, everything else was trivial.

She just couldn’t accept it.

’Why can’t I speak anymore?’

’Why can’t Walker regain his sight?’

’We didn’t do anything wrong.’

’Yet the evil-doers are still sitting pretty, beyond the reach of the law.’

She subconsciously clenched her fists.

Walker Grant sensed the shift in her mood. His tone grew grave. "Chloe?"

He couldn’t see the look on her face, couldn’t know what she was thinking.

’Is she heartbroken? Or just sad?’

A moment later, she pulled her hand from his.

Walker Grant felt his heart drop. He instinctively curled his palm, trying to hold on to the lingering warmth she had left behind.

Soon, a cold, electronic female voice sounded out. "We will get better. We can’t let the ones who hurt us get away."

Even though the voice was emotionless, Walker Grant could still picture her as she said those words.

’Her eyes must be burning with rage. She must be indignant and furious.’

’She isn’t sad or dejected, nor is she upset about being unable to leave.’

Walker Grant’s heart gradually settled. He nodded. "Yes, we will get better."

"..."

Through Lucas Shaw, Dylan Finch managed to find some information on Fiona Linton.

She was still active with international rescue teams, carrying on her parents’ legacy.

Dylan Finch looked at Walker Grant on the hospital bed, hesitated, and then said, "I can’t find her for the time being, Mr. Grant. Should we try contacting your parents? They’re still with the rescue teams. They might know Miss Linton’s whereabouts."

Ever since Judith Pierce had left, there had been no news from her.

Madam Grant was still living in the overseas manor, her life like that of a prisoner, and her condition was deteriorating by the day.

And now, Mr. Grant needed his parents’ help.

The hospital room fell silent.

After a long pause, Walker Grant finally nodded. "Okay."

Dylan Finch let out a sigh of relief and strode out to contact Judith Pierce.

While others were unreachable, Judith Pierce and Mr. Grant could still be contacted.

It was just that ever since Julian Grant’s death, Mr. Grant had never come back, though Judith Pierce returned frequently.

He managed to contact Judith Pierce quickly.

Judith Pierce was quite surprised to receive his email and called him directly.

"Dylan Finch."

Dylan Finch smiled. "Mrs. Pierce, have you been well?"

Judith Pierce acknowledged him. "I’m fine. What about Walker? Is he all right?"

Dylan Finch paused for a moment before saying, "Mr. Grant is not doing well."

On the other end of the line, Judith Pierce’s breath hitched. Then she asked, "Is it because of Chloe Reed?"

From her tone, Dylan Finch could already hear her resentment toward Chloe Reed.

Dylan Finch hesitated, then changed the subject. "Mrs. Pierce, do you know a doctor by the name of Fiona Linton?"

"Why are you looking for her?" Judith Pierce’s tone turned cold. "Don’t tell me it’s to treat Chloe Reed."

She paused, then added, "I’d rather she were dead. That way, she wouldn’t be able to drag my son down with her."

Dylan Finch’s expression was complicated. "It’s to treat Mr. Grant," he said.

"What’s wrong with him?!" Judith Pierce grew frantic. Even over the phone, he could picture her worried expression.

Dylan Finch said, "If you know Dr. Fiona Linton’s whereabouts, please tell me. Right now, she might be the only one who can save Mr. Grant."
