Chapter 652: I Only Have One Son Left

His words were grave.

Dylan Finch didn’t mention Chloe Reed once. He spent the entire time saying Walker Grant was on the verge of death.

No matter how much Judith Pierce resented Chloe Reed, she had to save her own son.

She had already lost one son; she couldn’t possibly neglect this one too.

She said, "I’ll see what I can find. If I locate her, I’ll send you her information."

Dylan Finch breathed a sigh of relief. "Of course, Madam."

After hanging up, he realized his palms were sweaty.

’Judith Pierce really has it in for her.’

’But when it comes to love, it’s always a matter of mutual consent.’

’If Mr. Grant is willing, who is anyone else to interfere?’

"..."

That evening, Judith Pierce sent Dylan Finch an email.

Fiona Linton was in the country, living with her parents in a small seaside town.

Her parents had retired from the rescue team and were now enjoying their retirement.

Dylan Finch relayed the news to Walker Grant and Chloe Reed.

Nathaniel Monroe was also there listening. He immediately said, "What city? Are there any more specifics? I’ll go right now."

Dylan Finch took out a file and handed it to him. "All of Fiona Linton’s information is in here."

Nathaniel Monroe opened it and looked it over carefully, then said, "I’ll go tomorrow."

Just then, a cold, electronic female voice sounded out, "I’m going too."

"Chloe," Walker Grant said at once. "You should stay here in the hospital with me. Let him handle it."

But Chloe Reed kept typing. "If I go in person, Miss Linton can assess my condition and decide on a treatment."

If a cure was possible, Fiona Linton would undoubtedly return with them; if not, it would at least save her a wasted trip.

Nathaniel Monroe said, "I think she’s right. Don’t worry, Walker. I’ll make sure she’s safe."

Walker Grant said coolly, "It’s because you’re going that I’m worried."

Nathaniel Monroe: "..."

’Alright, alright! I see how it is! No love left for me!’

Chloe Reed continued typing. "We’ll be back as soon as possible. We won’t be gone for long."

Walker Grant still didn’t approve.

Chloe Reed’s fingers tapped on the phone screen. "If you were healed, we could go together. But you’re not."

Walker Grant fell silent.

Nathaniel Monroe spoke up again. "Walker, we’ll be back before you know it. We’ll call you every day, how about that?"

Walker Grant didn’t answer, just turned to face Chloe Reed, his expression downcast.

Seeing this, Dylan Finch cleared his throat and said, "Ahem, Young Master Monroe, why don’t we discuss the plan? This Miss Linton isn’t a very easy person to get along with, so we need to figure out how to approach her."

He spoke as he steered Nathaniel Monroe out of the room.

Nathaniel Monroe’s attention was quickly diverted. He nodded. "Alright, what do you have in mind?"

"..."

The hospital room fell silent.

"Chloe."

Walker Grant reached a hand in her direction, and soon, a small, cool hand clasped his fingertips.

With a gentle tug, he pulled her in front of him.

Chloe Reed’s breathing hitched as she pushed against his shoulder.

But Walker Grant just hugged her tight. "I don’t want to be apart from you."

His voice was low and soft, tinged with a lingering tenderness. "Not even for a second."

Chloe Reed froze.

’She never expected him to show such a clingy side.’

Her body was stiff for a moment, but then she took his hand and began to write in his palm.

"We have to get better."

’They had to get better quickly. Just because Vera Holloway hadn’t come after them yet didn’t mean she wouldn’t in the future.’

’They couldn’t let their guard down. They had to seize every opportunity to heal.’
