Chapter 648: Are You Bullying Me Because I Can’t Speak?

As soon as the voice faded, Walker felt the warmth leave his lips. His brows knitted slightly beneath the gauze but quickly smoothed out.

He held out his hand to her.

He was asking for the spoon.

But the spoon never made it to his hand. Instead, an electronic female voice rang out. "Are you taking advantage of the fact that I can’t talk? Why do you have to make such a fuss?"

"Chloe, I’m not."

Hearing this, Walker immediately retorted, "I just..."

But before he could finish, he felt another touch on his lips. The warmth of the congee had heated the cold spoon, which was now pressed gently against them.

His expression faltered for a second before he opened his mouth and took the bite.

He slowly lowered his hand, letting her feed him one spoonful at a time.

At first, the feeling was novel, even pleasant.

’But if this keeps up... won’t I be completely useless?’

’I’m just blind; my arms and legs still work perfectly fine.’

Walker’s brow furrowed slightly. ’I need to talk to Chloe about this later.’

But before he could say anything, Chloe Reed expressed her own opinion. "You do need to practice doing things yourself. I can’t be by your side every second of the day."

Walker nodded. "Mm, I know."

Chloe Reed didn’t type anything else and began to eat her own meal.

Dylan Finch took in the scene, unable to believe his eyes.

’How long has it been since Mr. Grant and his wife sat down for a meal this peacefully?’

’When was the last time, anyway?’

’He couldn’t even remember!’

’He was tempted to record this moment to show Mr. Grant after his eyes recovered. If he did, maybe his year-end bonus would get doubled...’

"Walker!"

After the meal, as Walker was listening to Dylan Finch’s work report, the door to the hospital room was suddenly thrown open. Nathaniel Monroe burst in like a gust of wind, his face a mask of shock as he stared at Walker.

"When I first heard the news, I thought it was a joke! I can’t believe you’re actually hurt! Walker, are you going to recover? Have you seen a doctor?"

Nathaniel Monroe fired off a barrage of questions the moment he entered, shattering the quiet of the hospital room.

Beneath the white gauze, Walker’s brows knitted. His voice was tinged with annoyance. "How do you manage to make the sound of one person talking seem like several hundred people all speaking at once?"

"Huh?" Nathaniel Monroe looked momentarily baffled, then asked, "Walker, are you saying I’m being loud?"

Walker let out a soft sigh before asking, "The matter I had you look into—any results?"

Nathaniel Monroe pulled over a chair and began. "The Holloway Family keeps a low profile, but I was still able to dig up some information. The Holloway siblings are all currently vying for a ferry project. If they land it, the profits will be astronomical, and it will solidify their position within the Holloway Group."

Walker grunted in acknowledgment. "Contact Lucas Shaw. The two of you can figure out our counter-strategy."

Nathaniel Monroe nodded. "Alright, I’ll get in touch with him. Speaking of which, I haven’t seen him in years. That guy’s been overseas forever. Does he plan on never coming back?"

Walker said, "You can ask him that yourself."

Nathaniel Monroe pursed his lips in disdain. "Forget it, I’m not asking. He can come back or not, who cares. Walker, let’s talk about your eyes. Is there any way to fix them?"

Walker said, "We’ll have to wait until after the doctors’ consultation to know."
