The doctor pushed his glasses up and said, "There hasn’t been any progress yet. We’ve contacted the world’s top ophthalmologists. We can only discuss a treatment plan after the consultation is complete."

He looked at her and, trying to soothe her, said, "Mrs. Grant, you don’t need to worry too much. We’ve already administered a special painkiller injection. It will help alleviate Mr. Grant’s pain."

Chloe Reed nodded, her face pale.

She got up and left the doctor’s office.

’He’ll be in constant pain...’

’Doesn’t that mean he didn’t sleep at all last night?’

’Thinking of her own sadness and heartache from last night, it felt as if she had found its source.’

Chloe Reed lowered her gaze slightly and walked forward in silence.

"Mrs. Grant."

Just then, Dylan Finch’s voice rang out from a short distance ahead.

Hearing him, Chloe Reed looked up, a hint of confusion appearing on her pale face.

Dylan Finch looked at her with a complicated expression, sighed, and said, "Can we talk?"

Chloe Reed nodded.

They returned to her hospital room.

Dylan Finch got straight to the point. "You were standing at the door the whole time, weren’t you?"

Chloe Reed was a little surprised. ’I was so careful. I can’t believe he still found out.’

Dylan Finch smiled faintly. "You don’t have to be so surprised. The bodyguards told me. Now that you know Mr. Grant’s current situation, can you tell me what you’re thinking?"

Chloe Reed remained silent, then picked up her phone and started typing. A mechanical female voice followed, "I will take care of him until his eyes have completely recovered."

Dylan Finch said, "And what if they never recover? I’m not trying to jinx Mr. Grant, but this is a reality you have to face. Eyes are very fragile. It’s poison, but what if we can never find the antidote?"

This was a problem they all had to face.

Listening to him, Chloe Reed’s long lashes trembled. She paused for a few seconds before she started typing again. "Then let’s just stay like this for the rest of our lives. He can’t see, and I can’t speak. We shouldn’t separate and become a burden to others."

"Then... do you still resent Mr. Grant?" Dylan Finch asked hesitantly, posing the most critical question.

Chloe Reed was quite taken aback and looked up at him.

Regarding her relationship with Walker Grant, everyone else had always remained a bystander. Besides their closest family, no one else had ever commented on it.

And this was the first time that Dylan Finch—always so proper, serious, and meticulous—had expressed an opinion on their relationship.

Dylan Finch cleared his throat lightly. "Mrs. Grant, I am Mr. Grant’s special assistant. I know everything he has done, and I admittedly have to stand by his side. For so long now, Mr. Grant has been trying to make up for his past mistakes. Haven’t you been moved even a little bit?"

Chloe Reed smiled faintly and began to type. This time, she wasn’t flustered. A few seconds later, the mechanical female voice rang out again, "Only the two people in a relationship know its joys and sorrows. As for our future, that’s a matter for the future. Right now, I just hope we can both recover and stay alive."

Hearing that cold, utterly emotionless mechanical voice, Dylan Finch fell silent for a moment.

"Alright, I understand. I won’t meddle again," Dylan Finch said with a nod. He then continued, "Mr. Grant is in his room right now. He’s not letting anyone near. Mrs. Grant, would you like to go see him?"

Chloe Reed was silent for a moment, then suddenly typed, "Can this poison be replicated?"

Hearing this, Dylan Finch asked, his face full of confusion, "Mrs. Grant, what are you planning to do?"

A cold glint appeared in Chloe Reed’s watery eyes, and her entire aura turned sharp and severe. "To make the wicked suffer the consequences of their own actions, of course."
