Chapter 674: Deciding to Go Back
"Don’t worry, Aunt Jensen. I will definitely do everything I can to cure him," Fiona Linton said solemnly.
Judith Pierce offered a few distracted replies, then promptly hung up the phone.
She gripped her phone tightly, her eyes filled with anger.
’Damn it!’
’Chloe Reed actually caused her son to go blind!’
’She’s nothing but a jinx!’
’And Walker is a fool. He knows how dangerous it is to be around that woman, yet he still refuses to leave her!’
’What’s so great about Chloe Reed anyway?’
Judith Pierce clutched her phone and paced back and forth in the room. She was incredibly anxious. If she let them continue like this, Walker might lose his life one day.
’That was not an outcome she wanted to see!’
’She had to go back!’
’She had to find a way to drive Chloe Reed away from Walker!’
Judith Pierce turned and entered another room. Looking at the middle-aged man resting inside, she asked, "Arthur, do you want to return to the country?"
Arthur Grant’s brow furrowed. "Didn’t we say we’d go back for the Spring Festival?" he asked.
The Spring Festival was still two months away.
’What’s the point of going back now?’
Judith Pierce said, "Our son is in trouble. I want to go back and see him."
After a pause, she looked at him with a complicated expression. "Arthur, he’s the only son we have left. If anything else happens to him, we’ll truly have nothing. It’s been over three years. Haven’t you moved on yet?"
Arthur Grant lowered his gaze slightly, his tone cold as he said, "He should have been the one on that plane."
Judith Pierce’s eyes instantly reddened. "Isn’t he your son? I won’t say much about you favoring Julian, but Walker is your son too! If he died, wouldn’t you feel heartbroken and sad?!"
Julian Grant had been exceptional. From a young age, he was his parents’ pride, the "perfect child" that other parents compared their own to.
Walker Grant, on the other hand, was mischievous and disobedient, a constant source of worry for Arthur Grant and Judith Pierce.
But whenever they wanted to punish Walker, Julian Grant would stand in front of his younger brother.
Despite not being much older, he would say with the air of an adult, "It’s enough for the Grant family to have me. Let Walker do whatever he wants."
At times like that, Walker Grant would hide behind Julian Grant and make silly faces, causing quite the headache for everyone.
Arthur Grant greatly favored his older son and placed all his hopes on him.
If not for that accident, Julian Grant would never have died, and the Grant family wouldn’t be in the state it is today.
Judith Pierce wiped her tears and said, "Every time I think of Julian, I get terribly sad too. But we only have Walker left now. We really can’t let anything happen to him. I have to go back and check on him. I just came to ask you. If you don’t want to go, then forget it."
After speaking, she turned and left the room, beginning to pack her things to return to the country.
Regardless of whether Walker resented her for it, she had to drive Chloe Reed away from him.
Chloe Reed’s very existence was a ticking time bomb, one that could explode at any moment and harm those around her.
’She also knew that Chloe Reed wasn’t at fault, but she shouldn’t have been enticing Walker Grant when she knew full well how dangerous she was.’
Judith Pierce quickly finished packing. She intended to tell Arthur Grant she was leaving right away, but to her surprise, when she pushed open his door, she saw that he had packed his things as well.
"I’ll go back with you."
He said, looking at her in silence.
Judith Pierce was overjoyed and broke into a smile. "Great! We’ll go back together. Walker will be so happy to know you’re worried about him!"
