Chapter 742: Give It Back to Him
"Drink this for a few days. I think the results will be even better. You might even be able to speak again," Fiona Linton said.
A sliver of hope sparked in Chloe Reed’s heart. The days of being unable to speak were agonizing. Even though she had done her best to adapt, she couldn’t help but feel heartbroken.
Fiona Linton took her by the hand. "Come on, let’s get you your acupuncture."
Chloe Reed felt Fiona’s boundless vitality, and a smile touched her lips.
Fiona Linton was like a little sun, always warming those around her.
’Well, except for Walker Grant.’
"..."
「On the third day after Noah was taken away, Arthur Grant stepped through the doors of Jardinelle.」
The moment he entered, the atmosphere in the living room grew oppressive. He scanned the room coldly and demanded, "Where is Walker Grant?"
"He’s in the study," Fiona Linton replied.
Arthur Grant strode toward the study, pushed open the door, and found Dylan Finch giving a report to Walker.
Dylan Finch was visibly startled to see him. "Chairman Grant..."
"Get out."
Arthur Grant’s voice was grim as he ordered him out.
Dylan Finch nodded. "Yes, sir."
He turned and left the study, feeling a knot of anxiety tighten in his stomach. ’Chairman Grant didn’t come here looking for peace.’
The door to the study clicked shut. Arthur Grant looked at Walker Grant’s blindfolded face and said coldly, "This is your retribution."
Walker Grant’s hand tightened around his fountain pen, but his tone was devoid of emotion. "Did you come all this way just to berate me? If so, please, take your time. I’m listening."
He set the pen down, feigning an expression of rapt attention.
But Arthur Grant merely scoffed. "You said you would look after your older brother’s child. Is this how you do it? You bear full responsibility for what has happened to him. How do you have the nerve to keep living?"
A sardonic smirk touched Walker Grant’s lips. "If I weren’t alive, who would you take your anger out on when you miss my older brother?"
"You—!"
Arthur Grant’s face was a mask of fury. He had spent the last few days with Noah, his heart aching with a devastating mix of guilt and rage.
His tone grew even colder. "Where is your sister-in-law?!"
Walker Grant replied, "She’s not my sister-in-law anymore. She’s in a psychiatric hospital."
"Give me the address."
Fury blazed in Arthur Grant’s eyes.
"What are you going to do?" Walker Grant asked.
"I’m going to kill that venomous bitch!" Arthur Grant snarled, his teeth clenched. "After what she did to my grandson, she doesn’t deserve to live."
"And you want to spend the rest of your life in prison?" Walker Grant countered.
"That’s none of your business. Just give me the address," Arthur Grant said, his patience wearing thin.
"If you’re planning on murder, then I have to step in. I know you hate me, but you are still my father. You miss my older brother, and you feel indebted to Noah. You need to spend the rest of your life making it up to him. Killing Sunny Reed will solve nothing."
Walker Grant continued in a flat tone, "Sunny Reed is crippled now. She’s lost an eye, but her mind is perfectly lucid. She can feel all of her pain. Her life is a living hell."
"That is her punishment."
"Death would be a release for her."
"And she doesn’t deserve that."
Arthur Grant stared at him, his brow deeply furrowed. After a long silence, he said, "You failed Noah too. So don’t you die on me. You will raise him well, and in the future, you will hand the Grant Group over to him!"
Walker Grant said nothing.
His silence infuriated Arthur Grant. He strode forward and stared down at Walker Grant. "Did you hear me?! The Grant Group was supposed to go to your older brother. You only got your hands on it because of his accident. When Noah is grown, you will give it back to him!"
