Chapter 667: Are You Seeing Anyone?

Fiona Linton was a decisive person. Once she made a decision, she never looked back.

Right away, she began to pack her things.

There were no more flights for the day. The earliest she could leave was tomorrow.

She told Auntie King about her decision.

Worry immediately clouded Auntie King’s face. "Fiona, I don’t want you to go at all."

Fiona Linton hugged her and said, "Auntie King, you know how much pain I’ve been living in these past few years. I have to give it a try. It’s the only way I can do right by them."

Auntie King wiped away her tears. "But what if something happens to you? What would I do?"

Fiona Linton grinned and said, "I promise, nothing will happen to me. Even if I fail, I’ll drag myself back here if it’s the last thing I do. Then the two of us can just rely on each other."

Auntie King, however, remained silent.

’If only things were really that simple.’

Fiona Linton hugged her. "Come on, now. You just hold down the fort here and wait for me to come back. What if I succeed? Won’t our lives be wonderful? I’ll find a boyfriend, have a few kids, and you can help me look after them, how about that?"

Auntie King turned away. "You’re just good at sweet-talking me. I’m going to make dinner."

Once Fiona made up her mind, no one could easily change it.

No matter how worried Auntie King was, all she could do was quietly endure it and wait for her to return.

...

When it was time for the acupuncture session to end, Fiona Linton removed all the silver needles from Chloe Reed.

Then, she brought over a bowl of herbal medicine and handed it to Chloe Reed. "Drink this. We’ll see how things are tomorrow morning."

Chloe Reed nodded, took the medicine bowl, and drank it all down in one go.

That evening, Auntie King prepared a feast. She looked at the burly Daniel Hayes and couldn’t help but say, "Our Fiona is just a healer. She doesn’t have any other skills. It’s wonderful that she can help you, but I hope you can protect her."

Daniel Hayes quickly stood up and nodded. "Please, don’t worry. We will definitely protect her. We absolutely won’t let her get hurt."

Tears started to fall from Auntie King’s eyes again. "Thank you so, so much. You must... you absolutely must protect her."

’This trip was a huge risk.’

Though Auntie King was completely against it, all she could do was bear it.

Watching this, Chloe Reed felt a pang of envy.

’Fiona Linton is so lucky to have a family that cares about her so much.’

Fiona Linton didn’t say a word, just kept wolfing down her food. When she saw the others weren’t picking up their chopsticks, she said with a mouthful, "Come on, eat! My Auntie King’s cooking is amazing. You won’t find food this good anywhere else, so don’t say I didn’t warn you."

Her words did much to ease the somewhat tense atmosphere at the table.

The others began to eat, their eyes lighting up in surprise.

’It really is delicious!’

Nathaniel Monroe couldn’t help but exclaim, "Auntie King, your cooking is incredible! It’s better than anything I’ve had from chefs at five-star hotels. It’s a shame for your talent to be hidden away here."

Auntie King grew shy from the praise. "I’m just glad you like it."

"Like it? We love it! It’s a shame Walker isn’t here. If he came, he’d definitely love your cooking too." Nathaniel Monroe’s words were as sweet as honey. With his sunny, handsome face, he always wore an endearing, well-behaved smile when talking to his elders.

Auntie King looked him over and suddenly asked, "Young man, how old are you? Do you have a girlfriend?"

Nathaniel Monroe: "COUGH... COUGH... COUGH..."

He couldn’t help it—he’d choked.

Fiona Linton quickly interjected, "Auntie King, you can’t just ask everyone you meet that kind of question! It’s so awkward!"
