Chapter 372 - 370: Sent Someone Flying with a Slap
Eve Warren had never been so humiliated in her life.
Seeing the other woman’s sour expression, she turned her gaze to Celeste Grant and said coldly, "Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?" She lifted her chin, her face a mask of arrogance. "If not for the fact that you’re my junior, you would already be dead for disrespecting me like this."
’In the Cultivation World, some people are arrogant because they have the power and background to back it up. Sometimes, they don’t even need a reason to kill you. But since Jocelyn Grant’s mother got planted in the dirt by Javier Sinclair, that means he can beat her. If that’s the case, what’s there to be afraid of?’
’Time to fight back.’
Celeste Grant pretended to poke a finger in her ear, feigning that she couldn’t hear. "What was that?" she said loudly. "The wind’s too strong, I couldn’t quite catch it."
Eve Warren’s face flushed red. She glared at Celeste and snapped, "You ignorant junior, so audacious! No wonder you were born with such a venomous heart."
Hearing this, Celeste gently stroked her own face and smiled. "Can’t be helped. Heaven blessed me with such beauty, so I had to grow a little black heart to go with it. If I’d been born a soft-hearted idiot, you probably wouldn’t be standing here right now. So, being venomous is just part of the image I have to maintain as a villain." As she spoke, Celeste walked over to Javier Sinclair’s side and draped an arm over his shoulder. She added, "After all, my husband is a Demon. Were you expecting me to be some kind of saint? Are you crazy?"
Eve Warren seethed. She hadn’t expected this little bitch to be so sharp-tongued. ’My poor daughter must have been so helpless when she faced her.’
"Such a silver tongue."
"Celeste Grant, you still show no remorse. Jocelyn was your cousin, no matter what. I didn’t expect you to treat her well, but you shouldn’t have killed her! You deserve to die for murdering your own kin. Today, I will clean up this disgrace to the family on behalf of your parents."
’Did I hear that right? Clean up the family on behalf of *my* parents?’
Celeste Grant stood up straight.
Her expression turned cold, her gaze sharp as she began to curse. "You old hag, what are you yammering on about? I stay quiet for a second and you really think you’re hot shit. You, represent my parents? And clean up the family on their behalf? You’ve got some nerve. Who needs an elder like you? I’d be better off using you as a rag to wipe a table, and even then, I’d think you’re too dirty for the job. Ptooey!"
’Some nerve?’ Eve Warren couldn’t believe her ears. In all her life, no one had ever dared to speak to her like that, let alone curse so filthily! She pointed a trembling finger at Celeste. "You’re outrageous! You don’t have the slightest trace of a proper young lady. Is this how your parents raised you? Hah, just as expected of an uneducated wild girl from the Lower Realm."
The moment her words fell, Celeste fired back.
"How my parents raised me is none of your damn business. Mind your own business, you nosy bitch. And you, old hag, you’re ugly enough as it is, so stop running your mouth about people from the Lower Realm. If you’re so high and mighty, why did you run off to the Lower Realm in the first place? Weren’t you the one who hooked up with a man there and gave birth to Jocelyn Grant? What does that make you? If we’re talking about the saying ’having a mother but no upbringing,’ you and Jocelyn Grant are truly a perfect match. Both the type to give birth but not raise a child. I spit on you."
Hearing Celeste’s merciless words was like having her ugliest secrets ripped out and put on display for all to see. Her dignity was being trampled into the dust.
Eve Warren was livid, but she managed to choke out, "What do you know? Grant and I were truly in love."
Celeste threw up her hands with a look of disgust. "Ooh, look at you, all flustered. I never said you two weren’t in love, so why are you so defensive? To be honest, I’m sick of hearing that line. Your daughter, Jocelyn Grant, would say the exact same thing every time she stabbed one of her Taoist Companions to death. She was ’truly in love’ with every single one of them, but she never hesitated when it came time to run them through. I actually kind of admire it, in a way. At least she didn’t second-guess herself. I wonder, as Jocelyn Grant’s dear mother, what level of ’true love’ are *you* on?"
Javier Sinclair didn’t remember the past, but from Celeste’s snippets of conversation, he was subconsciously piecing together quite a drama.
’No wonder there’s a saying in the Mortal Realm: villains and women are the most difficult to handle!’
Eve Warren pointed at her, enraged.
"Shut your mouth! What nonsense are you spouting? Your heart is so venomous you fell to the Demonic Path and murdered my daughter and her husband. And now you stand here gloating, showing no remorse, spouting insolence. Today, you will die."
As she spoke, she thrust a palm toward Celeste. A powerful force, visible to the naked eye, shot straight for her.
Eve Warren said coldly, "You took advantage of my absence from the Lower Realm to cruelly murder my daughter, Jocelyn Grant. Today, I will annihilate your Divine Soul to avenge my poor child."
’This woman is indeed strong.’
’Even if this is just a clone she sent to the Lower Realm, it has the power of the Transcendance Tribulation Stage. With my current cultivation, I’m no match for her.’ However, she gave Javier Sinclair’s shoulder a light squeeze with one hand while her other hand swung out to meet the incoming force.
Javier Sinclair understood Celeste’s meaning in an instant. He raised his hand and, as if by chance, clasped the hand she had placed on his shoulder. The next moment, he discreetly transferred his power to her.
The two forces collided for just an instant. The power Celeste unleashed completely shattered her opponent’s attack.
Seizing the opportunity, she raised her hand. In that moment, countless streams of water appeared in the air, instantly morphing into sharp arrows that aimed, dense as a swarm, at Eve Warren.
Celeste smiled faintly. "Jocelyn Grant and I go way back, and since you’re her mother, that basically makes us old acquaintances too. You’ve gone to all the trouble of coming down to the Lower Realm, so please, have some Water Arrows. Don’t be polite." As she spoke, she flicked her wrist and thrust her hand forward.
The Water Arrows that had materialized in the air shot toward Eve Warren, carrying a terrifyingly immense power.
Startled by this terrifying pressure, Eve Warren quickly waved her hand, and a Spiritual Energy Shield appeared in front of her to block the attack. Immediately after, she raised her hand, locking onto Celeste with her Sword Intent.
"Little girl, did you think a cheap trick like this could do anything to me?"
"You should know that there’s always someone stronger..."
Before she could finish, Celeste cut her off. "Let me give you a saying too: whether in the Lower Realm or the Upper Realm, there are tons of Cultivators stronger than you. Don’t go posturing for no reason. People who show off like you tend to get slapped in the face."
She borrowed Javier Sinclair’s power, gathered her cultivation in her palm, and swung. With a cry, Jocelyn Grant’s mother was sent flying, her face knocked askew, before crashing heavily onto the ground. Not only that, but Celeste heard a distinct CRACK.
At that moment, Eve Warren felt as if her internal organs had been shattered, and she couldn’t stop herself from vomiting blood.
"Pfft—"
Celeste casually straightened her clothes. "See? I never make empty boasts, and I rarely lie." ’It’s just that when I do lie, I don’t blush or miss a beat.’
