Chapter 373 - 371: Heavenly Thunder Strikes Her
The moment she finished speaking, her opponent spat up more blood.
Seeing the woman sprawled on the ground, unable to get back up, Celeste Grant sneered. "And one last piece of advice for you: show-offs get struck by lightning."
With a sinister smile, she glanced at the sky and raised her hand.
"Daddy Heavenly Dao, I’d like to report someone! She concealed her aura to sneak into the Lower Realm. I suspect she’s in cahoots with those Outer Realms Races who want to destroy the peace of the Cultivation World. This woman from the Upper Realm is obviously here to overthrow our world. Can you really stand for this? She’s completely disrespecting you! Our Cultivation World has only just regained its stability. You can’t just sit back and do nothing."
The Heavenly Dao is the personification of the Great Dao’s rules, the guardian of a realm’s peace and safety.
Back when the Cultivation World faced a crisis of life and death, it wasn’t just Celeste Grant and its people who united to contribute their power—even the Heavenly Dao itself was drained of its energy.
Fortunately, Javier Sinclair ultimately unleashed his Divine Power, mending the void, perfecting the Great Dao, and finally setting up a Barrier to conceal the Cultivation World.
In other words, aside from a few mighty figures in the Immortal Domain and some Cultivators possessing unique treasures, the Outer Realms Races could no longer find this place.
The Great Dao of this world had been fully restored. Therefore, the instant it heard Celeste Grant’s words, the Heavenly Dao locked onto Eve Warren on the ground.
Previously, the Heavenly Dao’s power had been weak, as it was newly formed. Now, however, it was more than ten times stronger. At its current level, the Heavenly Dao could protect this world even if the Outer Realms Races were to invade again.
Therefore, in the eyes of the Heavenly Dao, Javier and Celeste were considered insiders—a part of this world.
They were two good children who would risk their lives to protect the world’s inhabitants.
As far as the Heavenly Dao was concerned, only threats to the world’s safety were true scourges to be eliminated without mercy. This was why it always sent down heavenly punishment whenever a world-destroying demon appeared. As for the everyday skirmishes between the Immortal and Demonic Paths, the Heavenly Dao couldn’t care less. After all, that was just the law of balance at work.
The Heavenly Dao had now confirmed the identity of Jocelyn Grant’s mother: she was from the Upper Realm.
’Since she’s here, let the smiting begin!’
Celeste Grant saw a golden cloud materialize in the sky, along with a single word.
AUDACIOUS! ’The Heavenly Dao is still quite majestic,’ she thought.
The moment the word appeared, several bolts of Heavenly Thunder, each as thick as a bowl, struck down at Eve Warren. However, only Celeste Grant and Javier Sinclair, who was beside her, could see the word and the golden cloud in the sky.
’Javier Sinclair was a little curious. He hadn’t expected this world’s Heavenly Dao to actually manifest.’
The woman, beaten so badly by Celeste Grant that she couldn’t get up, was lying on the ground about to take an Elixir Pill to recover when a bolt of Heavenly Thunder as thick as a bowl crashed down on her head.
The force of the blow made her Divine Soul shudder. Eve Warren’s body convulsed uncontrollably, and she spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
There wasn’t a single thundercloud in the sky; the Heavenly Thunder was striking directly. This wasn’t just an attempt to expel her.
’This is meant to kill me.’
"No... AARGH..."
As the Heavenly Thunder descended, Eve Warren scrambled to use a Defensive Magical Artifact to block it. But the lightning was incredibly powerful, striking relentlessly, one bolt after another, as if it cost nothing. Soon, the Defensive Magical Artifact she had brought from the Lower Realm was shattered to pieces. Gravely injured, she could no longer withstand the assault, and her Cultivation was completely dispersed by the Heavenly Thunder.
"No... Stop! I’ll leave right now!"
Eve Warren thought that if she could just escape this world, the Heavenly Dao would stop striking her. After all, others had descended to the Lower Realm before, and the Heavenly Dao had merely expelled them.
Seeing this, Celeste Grant reacted in a flash, using her Magic to immobilize the woman.
’Trying to run? Not a chance. Since you’re here, you might as well stay.’
Eve Warren was enraged.
She glared at Celeste Grant. "How dare you do this to me! Aren’t you afraid I’ll hunt you down when you ascend to the Upper Realm?"
She didn’t want to be struck dead by Heavenly Thunder.
If she were simply killed, only this incarnation would die. Her main body in the Upper Realm would suffer a significant loss of Cultivation, but would otherwise be unharmed. However, being struck down by the Heavenly Dao’s judgment was different. Her main body in the Upper Realm would suffer a backlash, and her Primordial Spirit would be grievously wounded.
A slight smile played on Celeste Grant’s lips. ’This is exactly what I was counting on.’ That was why she hadn’t killed Eve Warren herself, but had instead used the Heavenly Dao to do her dirty work.
’Oh, dear, oh, dear.’
’I’m so wicked!’
’I feel like breaking into song.’
"Jocelyn was right about you, Celeste Grant! You’re a venomous snake! I will not let you go!"
Celeste Grant smiled faintly. "And if I let you live now, you wouldn’t hunt me down when I ascend to the Upper Realm? That’s impossible, so your threats are pointless. There’s an age-old saying: kill the young, and the old will come for revenge. We were always destined to be enemies. It’s perfectly reasonable that you came to the Lower Realm to kill me, only to be killed by me instead. If you have what it takes, you’re welcome to try and kill me too."
At this, she let out a sinister cackle, which then turned into a full-blown "HAHAHA!" She truly looked like a little witch reveling in her evil deeds.
"’Let me tell you something! I’m the type who holds a grudge. Didn’t your precious Jocelyn tell you? HA! Anyone who messes with me had better be prepared for me to mess with them. So not only will this incarnation of yours die here, unable to return, but you just wait. When I reach the Upper Realm, the question won’t be whether you’ll hunt me down. It’ll be me, coming to take your damn life!’"
As if in response to her words, the moment Celeste Grant finished speaking, Jocelyn Grant’s mother’s incarnation was obliterated by the Heavenly Thunder, her body turning to ash.
Deader than dead.
Celeste Grant thought of a famous saying and couldn’t help but mutter, "She just arrived in the Lower Realm and died. This must be what they call ’dying before the mission is complete.’"
Jocelyn Grant’s mother, the one who came from the Upper Realm, was dead.
The Heavenly Thunder ceased, but the golden cloud remained in the sky. Just then, a voice resounded in Celeste Grant’s ears.
"’Child, you risked your life to protect the Cultivation World in its hour of need. It is because of you that this world has endured. On behalf of all living things, I thank you. From this day forward, you and your husband shall be as my own children in this world. You will be shielded by the Power of Providence and blessed with immense fortune. You will live a happy life, child.’"
As the voice faded, Celeste Grant felt a mass of golden light descend upon her, shimmering with points of exquisite beauty.
The light blazed brightly.
She narrowed her eyes slightly.
’My fortune is at its absolute peak now, and these rings of light around me are Merit Golden Light. I can use this to cultivate a Dharma Body when I ascend to the Upper Realm. You’d only get this much Merit Golden Light by saving an entire world’s population, right?’
It wasn’t just her; Javier Sinclair was covered in it too. He simply raised a hand, stared at the Merit Golden Light enveloping him, and was left utterly speechless.
He wore an expression of pure reluctance. "I’m a Demon, and you’re covering me in this stuff? What’s left of my fearsome reputation?"
Before he could finish, Celeste Grant patted him on the head. "Don’t mind him," she said. "He’s just stunned silly with happiness."
Javier Sinclair: "..."
He glanced at his wife beside him.
Seeing her beaming, Javier Sinclair found her smile infectious. Suddenly, he thought that perhaps this wasn’t so bad after all.
