Chapter 410 - 408: At Least Not the Current Me

The woman in the Ancient Mirror was currently in a newly born Cultivation World in the Lower Realm. Her time was fifteen thousand years in his future.

At that moment, the woman in the Ancient Mirror was gently bumping her forehead against the mirror in her hands, her expression conflicted. She could be heard muttering to herself, "Javier Sinclair... Old Fiend Sinclair, where are you? Say something, say something... What in the world is going on over there? It was bad enough that you forgot me before, but why are you acting like you don’t know me again? What have I done to deserve this!"

"I get sad too, you know... Don’t do this to me. I never should have let you leave."

Sitting in the wicker chair, Javier Sinclair watched the figure in the Ancient Mirror. He raised a slight eyebrow, his expression serene. Only his golden eyes betrayed a flicker of curiosity and scrutiny—a scrutiny of the woman who had suddenly appeared.

’In the future, my Mysterious Ancient Mirror will fall into this woman’s hands. And she’s opening a past timeline to connect with me from fifteen thousand years ago.’ This also explained why, even though the Mysterious Ancient Mirror was clearly in his hands, she had one too. The timelines were out of sync.

The Mysterious Ancient Mirror was his Companion Divine Artifact, capable of surveying everything in existence and connecting the past to the future. So, it wasn’t particularly strange that this woman could activate the Ancient Mirror to reach him.

’But how could the Ancient Mirror have passed from my hands to hers? Did I really give it to her?’ With this in mind, he asked calmly, "You claim it was I who gave you the Mysterious Ancient Mirror?"

After Javier Sinclair asked this, he saw the woman in the Ancient Mirror look up at him and nod slightly. "That’s right. You put it on my pillow this morning. There’s no mistake."

Hearing her claim that he had placed it on her pillow that morning, Javier Sinclair’s hand paused. He found it utterly unbelievable.

Javier Sinclair raised a slight eyebrow and said, "Are you certain it was me who gave you the Mysterious Ancient Mirror?"

Hearing this, Celeste Grant shot back, exasperated, "If it wasn’t you, who else could it have been? Do you really think I wouldn’t recognize my own husband? Just like a moment ago, when you were standing in the water with your back to me—even without seeing your face, I knew it was you in a single glance."

Hearing her mention what happened earlier, Javier Sinclair’s golden pupils narrowed slightly. After a moment of silence, he spoke. "You’re saying that I became your Taoist Companion?"

Celeste Grant nodded slightly. "Mhm! We’re married. When you courted me, you sent me flowers and played music for me. You can’t have forgotten that, right? And just last night, we did... well, everything a Taoist Companion couple should do. I’m still exhausted."

Hearing this, Javier Sinclair’s fingers tightened around the Mysterious Ancient Mirror. A crack appeared on his usually serene, unflappable face.

’I courted her? With flowers and music? And I... did everything a Taoist Companion is supposed to do with her? The way I think she means?’ For that one moment, even the Demon God, Javier Sinclair, was filled with self-doubt.

He was sure it couldn’t have been him, yet a trace of embarrassment now colored his deep, bottomless eyes. And because of that, his tone grew even more authoritative.

"Nonsense."

His voice was a few shades deeper as he spoke.

Celeste Grant just sighed, assuming that after Javier Sinclair returned to the Demonic Domain, something must have happened to make him lose his memory all over again. As this thought crossed her mind, her temper flared, and she felt her frustration boiling over.

But the thought that he’d forgotten again left Celeste Grant feeling deflated.

"Sigh!" She let out a breath and said, "Forget it. Something’s obviously wrong with your head, so I don’t blame you. You just wait. Once I pass my tribulation and ascend, I’ll come find you in the Upper Realm. Whatever happened, we have to face it together. I’m the one who chose you, and you’re the one who’s my husband."

"Good thing I’m not some helpless, delicate flower. If this happened to one of those heroines who faints at every shock and can’t handle reality, she’d probably be threatening to kill herself after hearing her husband forgot her." She waved her hand irritably. "I’m used to these little episodes of yours."

As she spoke, the woman in the Ancient Mirror offered a gentle smile, though a trace of forced strength lingered in her eyes. She looked sad, but her composure was solid. She was the type who had seen her share of trouble—the type for whom life would go on, even if the sky itself were to fall.

Javier Sinclair said nothing, but the fingers holding the Ancient Mirror twitched slightly.

He switched the Ancient Mirror to his other hand, then held out his free palm, upturned. Instantly, a galaxy of countless stars materialized in the Demon God’s hand. Each point of light floating above his palm represented an entire world.

He sat poised, his long, smooth hair cascading over his body. The golden Demon Seal on his forehead emanated Divine Power, and golden runes flowed within the depths of his eyes.

His gaze swept over the myriad stars displayed in his hand, but he could not find the world that existed in the Ancient Mirror. In other words, her Cultivation World had not yet been born. It didn’t exist yet.

He gently closed his hand, and the galaxy within it vanished.

His gaze returned to the woman in the Ancient Mirror.

For some reason, when he met her eyes, he found himself saying more than he intended.

"The person you speak of is not me. At least, not the me of this present time."

Celeste Grant looked at him, her face a mask of confusion.

"What do you mean, ’not the you of this present time’?"

He asked, "Do you know where I am right now?"

’Where is he?’

Celeste Grant answered instinctively, "Aren’t you in the Demonic Domain? Just last night, you were saying that the people from the Sancthelm of the Immortal Domain were gathering an army to attack it while you were away."

As soon as her words faded, a voice replied.

"No. The Demonic Domain you speak of exists within another, more expansive Cultivation World. I, however, am in the Demon Realm. Your time and mine are separated by fifteen thousand years."

"I just checked. In this current era, the Cultivation World you inhabit has not yet been born. It is still a void of nothingness."

The moment he finished speaking, the woman’s hand trembled, and the Ancient Mirror dropped onto her bed. The view in the mirror filled with her magnified face and wide, staring eyes. She quickly snatched the Ancient Mirror back up and held it close.

Her voice rose in pitch.

"Y-Y-You... What did you just say?" She pointed first to the mirror, then to herself, her expression a whirlwind of shock and disbelief. "You’re telling me that your time is fifteen thousand years separated from mine, and you’re in the Demon Realm?"

「Back with Celeste Grant.」

She stared at the Ancient Mirror in her hand, her expression dazed and distant, as if she couldn’t believe her ears and thought she must have misheard.

Right now, she couldn’t see anything on the other side of the Ancient Mirror; she could only hear his voice. But Celeste Grant knew he could most certainly see her. Otherwise, how could he have pulled her clothes back into place for her earlier?

Celeste Grant stared at the Ancient Mirror in her hand and asked again, tentatively, "You’re in the Demon Realm?"

After she asked, the familiar voice came from the other side of the Ancient Mirror.

"Mhm."
