Chapter 448 - 446: That’s How It Is
Celeste Grant froze.
’What did he just say?’
Javier Sinclair said he saw her when he was in the Demon Realm—fifteen thousand years ago—through the Mysterious Ancient Mirror.
Once she processed it, Celeste Grant’s eyes went wide. She pointed at him, stammering, "Y-y-you..." She swallowed, her expression one of utter shock. "So you have your memories?" ’How is that possible?’ But then again, it made sense. ’The Mysterious Ancient Mirror is the Demon God’s Companion Divine Artifact. If I could accidentally see him in the Demon Realm, then he would certainly have memories of it.’’
Thinking of this, Celeste Grant muttered under her breath, "Now that you mention it, I feel like my brain can’t keep up."
Javier Sinclair glanced at her and said, "Yes. I saw the future you back then. I knew that we would become Taoist Companions and even have a son and a daughter."
She asked, "Javier Sinclair, does that mean you liked me even back then?"
"No." Javier Sinclair looked at her and answered frankly, "At first, I was merely curious about you. More than that, I saw that you were carrying my children in the future. For whatever reason, I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. So, I acknowledged your existence in my heart, and before I knew it, I started to develop feelings for you."
He paused, then reached out and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "I truly fell in love with you when we were in the Cultivation World of the Lower Realm," he said softly. "We had a child by accident, and you happened to find me. In that place, everyone feared me. You were the only one who looked at me differently. As we spent more time together, my feelings grew, and before I realized it, my heart belonged to you." It was just as she had joked: if she called him ’husband,’ he would give her his life. And it was true. When the Cultivation World faced disaster, he really had been willing to risk everything.
Celeste Grant smiled.
She said, "You’re quite honest, Archfiend. I thought for sure you’d try to sweet-talk me and say you fell for me a long, long time ago."
Hearing this, Javier Sinclair took her hand and said softly, "I would never lie to you."
Celeste Grant hugged him.
"This is what I love about you."
Then she asked another question.
"So how did you end up in the Lower Realm?"
She was asking how Javier Sinclair, the Demon God, had managed to come to the Lower Realm. She wanted to know everything.
Javier Sinclair explained, "After I saw the future you, I was always worried about how you and the children were doing. As the Demon God, I can alter worlds with a single thought. Because of that, I couldn’t interfere with your future; there were too many variables. So, all I could do was wait."
"After that, I discovered that your appearance seemed to be inextricably linked to me. To ensure the karmic threads of the future weren’t tangled, I created the Cultivation World you were in, using the cultivation story you once described as its foundation."
Celeste Grant listened quietly.
’He created the Cultivation World?’
’So that’s how it was.’
’No wonder the world felt so real after I transmigrated into the book. It’s because he, as the Demon God, created it. The Cultivation World I was in only existed because of him.’
At that moment, Celeste Grant couldn’t help but sigh. "Fate truly works in mysterious ways."
He nodded slightly.
Celeste Grant asked again.
"And then what happened?"
He said, "After creating the Cultivation World, I wanted to see you and the children sooner and protect you, so I split off a part of my Primordial Spirit and sent it down into that world. However, the Cultivation World you were in was newly born. Its great dao was incomplete and its Heavenly Dao was weak. It couldn’t withstand the full power of my Primordial Spirit, so I had to split the descending part of my spirit in two. One part followed the Mysterious Ancient Mirror to another plane. As a result, when my Primordial Spirit arrived in the Lower Realm, it was like I was reborn, with no memory of being the Demon God."
Listening to his story...
Celeste Grant looked amazed.
She said in a low voice, "I never would have thought... Doesn’t that create a closed loop? It’s a causal cycle. Every time we’ve met was probably fated. Not a single link could be missing."
Javier Sinclair hummed in agreement. "And that time you sacrificed yourself, I broke the Seal on my Primordial Spirit. That body couldn’t handle the origin power and eventually disintegrated. I was originally planning to return to my main body, but then I remembered my other half was still out there and needed to be recovered first. After I returned to my body in the Demonic Domain, I fell into a deep sleep halfway through the Primordial Spirit Fusion. Luckily, even with amnesia, I still found you. That’s more or less what happened."
After he finished, Celeste Grant leaned against his chest and tilted her head up. "Everything that’s happened to us could be compiled into a million-word novel. It’s so romantic and completely gut-wrenching."
He chuckled. "That’s not difficult. I can grab... find an author for you and have our story written down as a memento."
At his words, Celeste Grant’s eyes lit up. "Hehe, you and I are on the same page, Archfiend. I used to read novels before I transmigrated. Back then, I was following a book by an author named Fleur. The writing was mediocre and full of typos, but the story was beautifully written. I even stayed up all night reading it. Let’s go with her! I’ve even thought of a title: *The Vicious Female Cultivator Flaunts Her Pregnancy, Taming the Bigshot and Getting Pampered.*"
Javier Sinclair: "..."
’I’m starting to think we’re not from the same world.’
That... just hearing the title made his brow furrow involuntarily.
She glanced at him.
"So? What do you think?"
He gave a dry laugh and offered a less-than-sincere compliment. "It’s great. A normal person would never think of a title like that. My wife’s ideas are certainly... unconventional."
She lightly punched his arm twice.
"Who are you calling not normal? Watch your mouth."
Javier Sinclair nodded slightly.
"As long as you’re not angry, my dear. Whatever you say, goes."
’In any case,’ he thought.
’No one will ever see it anyway. Even if it gets written, I’ll just tuck it away at the bottom of a chest.’
「In this space.」
Celeste Grant and Javier Sinclair, reunited after so long, talked for a long, long time. In the sea of flowers, the two of them nestled together, their conversation punctuated by occasional laughter.
Their eyes met, and he lowered his head to kiss her lips. All the longing from their time apart was poured into that single kiss.
「By the time they reappeared, it was already late.」
The village was brightly lit, the bonfires still burning. Not a single villager had left. Having witnessed a God perform a miracle tonight, it was destined to be a sleepless night for them all.
Celeste Grant led Javier Sinclair into view. Her gaze swept over the crowd, and the people’s faces lit up with excitement when they saw them. Seeing that they were about to bow again, she quickly stopped them.
"Hold on, no more bowing."
"We just came to freeload some food and drinks."
As she spoke, she pulled Javier Sinclair by the hand and found a place to sit.
The villagers were overjoyed to see them. They quickly brought over fine wine and good food, laying out freshly roasted leg of lamb and other mutton dishes as well.
