Chapter 447 - 445: He Recovered His Memory
The villagers at his side looked sincere, even a little excited.
"The Demonic Domain sounds pretty good."
"The Sovereign Lord... that sounds so majestic. He’s truly worthy of being our God."
Since ancient times, only the most powerful beings in existence could use "Sovereign" in their title. So, it didn’t matter what their God’s identity was. As long as the God they worshiped was real, that was all that mattered.
These villagers weren’t frightened by Javier Sinclair’s words in the slightest. Instead, they looked eager to follow in their God’s footsteps.
They gazed at him with devout expressions.
"We pay our respects to the True God of the Demonic Domain."
"Greetings, Sovereign Lord."
"We pay our respects to the Sovereign Lord."
Javier Sinclair: "..."
At that moment, Javier Sinclair just scoffed without a word.
Celeste Grant gave a faint smile.
She glanced at Javier Sinclair and spoke. "Old Fiend Sinclair, what do you think? They’re so loyal to you. Even after finding out you’re the Archfiend, their loyalty hasn’t wavered in the slightest."
He glanced at Celeste Grant and muttered in a low voice, "What could I possibly think? They must have all gotten their heads slammed in a door." Though his words were dripping with disdain, Celeste Grant knew that he had already accepted these people as his own.
’Wait a minute... gotten their heads slammed in a door?’
’That sharp tongue...’ Hearing his words, Celeste Grant froze. Her eyes lit up as she turned to face him. "Say that again." She leaned in closer.
Seeing her get so close, Javier Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "What is my wife up to?"
Celeste Grant stared at him intently.
Suddenly, Celeste Grant asked, "Javier Sinclair, what did you say the first time flowers bloomed on my head?"
Javier Sinclair paused, then replied subconsciously, "Nothing much, was it? I told you to put the flowers away, that my eyes were going blind." He trailed off as he met Celeste Grant’s bright, knowing gaze.
He suddenly chuckled and whispered, "You found me out. I was hoping to surprise you."
"This is already a huge surprise."
Celeste Grant broke into a smile.
She knew Javier Sinclair so well that she could guess his thoughts from a mere frown. The moment he spoke, she knew his memories had returned.
Looking at the man standing before her, her face filled with joy and excitement. A thousand words welled up inside her, but only one escaped her lips. "You remember?"
As she asked, a bittersweet feeling washed over her.
She had thought it wouldn’t matter if Javier Sinclair never remembered. As long as they were together and never separated, nothing else was important. But those memories were a precious part of their life together, so she was overjoyed that he had them back.
The Javier Sinclair she first met had been that same sharp-tongued man. That was why she knew, the instant he spoke, that his memories had returned.
He reached out, pulled her into his arms, and nodded gently. "Yes, I remember everything. There was no ’ex-husband’—it’s always been me. Celeste, I’m sorry for making you worry."
Celeste Grant hugged him tightly.
"This is wonderful."
"You finally remember."
As she spoke, she wrapped her arms around his neck, hanging on him playfully. Javier Sinclair expertly swept her up into his arms. She bumped her forehead against his. "Find a private place. I want you to tell me everything, down to the last detail."
He nodded slightly. "Alright. I’ll tell you anything you want to know."
Just as they were about to leave, Celeste Grant remembered the outsiders and turned to glance at the villagers.
She was in such a good mood that she couldn’t help but call out with a laugh, "Everyone, keep the music playing and the dancing going! My husband and I are just going to catch up for a bit. We’ll be back!"
By the time she finished speaking, Javier Sinclair had already disappeared with Celeste in his arms.
After the two of them vanished, the villagers finally snapped out of their daze.
The High Priest spoke up. "Quickly, quickly! Didn’t you hear our God? Let’s get this celebration going!"
"Oh, and have someone bring another sheep over! Slaughter it and put it on the roast."
"Yes, High Priest! We’re on it!"
You could hear the slight tremble of excitement in their voices.
They had seen their God.
Their God had manifested!
As for their God’s claim that he was a Demon, they completely ignored it. It wasn’t important. Not in the least. For generations, their God had been an existence akin to their own ancestor. Who would betray their own ancestor?
They could feel in their hearts whether their God was good or not. Their entire village had been under this God’s protection for generations. So what if this God wasn’t the kind of god they had imagined? What did it matter?
At this moment, all that mattered was their joy that the God had finally manifested.
「Elsewhere.」
In a space conjured by Javier Sinclair, Celeste Grant sat on the ground amidst a sea of mountain flowers, leaning back into his arms. He sat beside her, one arm wrapped around her waist while the other gently caressed her belly. Whenever he looked down at her, his gaze was filled with tender affection.
His gaze fell to her stomach, and he couldn’t help but say, "Your belly seems smaller this time than when you were carrying our son. It’s all my fault."
"Huh? How is it your fault? Don’t go blaming yourself for nothing," Celeste Grant said with a laugh. "Our daughter is perfectly healthy. Generally, girls are a bit smaller than boys at birth, though there are exceptions. Some baby girls are quite sturdy from the get-go. Not every pregnancy is the same."
He added, "From the looks of it, she’ll be born soon."
Celeste Grant hummed in agreement. "If I’ve calculated correctly, probably early next month."
Hearing this, the corners of his lips curved upward.
"My dear, I’m going to have a daughter."
Celeste Grant shot him a glare.
"Hah. Old Fiend Sinclair, so now that you have a daughter, you’ve forgotten all about your wife."
He hugged her closer.
"How could that be? My wife is the most important person in my heart."
"Enough of that. Tell me what happened. What happened to you after your body dissipated back then? And how did you become the Javier Sinclair of the Demonic Domain?"
There was so much she wanted to know.
Javier Sinclair glanced at her and began to explain.
"Well... it’s a long story."
Celeste Grant rolled her eyes at him.
"Then give me the short version. Don’t drag it out."
He grunted in affirmation.
"Alright."
"It all started fifteen thousand years ago."
Hearing this, Celeste Grant froze. She looked up at him. "What? How does this involve fifteen thousand years ago?"
At the mention of this, Celeste Grant felt a pang of guilt. Before she was with this version of him, she had used the Mysterious Ancient Mirror and accidentally connected with the Demon God. ’Even though that was also him,’ she thought, ’it still feels a bit like I was cheating on my husband.’
"Speaking of fifteen thousand years ago, it reminds me of something."
Javier Sinclair glanced at her.
"I know."
His words made Celeste Grant’s face fill with confusion. "What do you know?"
He began, "I’ve remembered certain things... about you. Back when I was in the Demon Realm, you used the Mysterious Ancient Mirror and saw me by accident."
The moment Javier Sinclair said this, Celeste Grant felt like her brain was about to short-circuit.
